Gorgeously located on the shores of Squamish Harbor in Port Ludlow, this water-view home exudes calm, relaxation, and serene natural beauty in every season. It's a wonderful spot to spend the summer collecting seashells on the beach across the street and winter holidays curled up under a blanket with a view of Puget Sound. The interior living space is full of natural light, with windows throughout the home that frame views of either the ocean or the surrounding evergreen canopy. Come home from a morning on the beach, a kayaking excursion, or an exploration of the Olympic Peninsula to toss the day's clothes in the private washer/dryer and both prepare and eat dinner with an incredible view. Bring your coffee and dessert outside to the deck, and settle in for a good show or a movie in either the loft or the downstairs den.
This water-view home is located on Squamish Harbor in the peaceful community of Port Ludlow, across the street from a set of steps that lead to the beach (please note that the steps are on a pulley/wrench system and they need to be lowered and raised). You'll be two miles down the road from Shine Tidelands State Park, a great place for fishing, harvesting shellfish, birding, kayaking, and walking the beach. The small town of Port Ludlow is six miles north, where you'll find the marina, the Port Ludlow Golf Club, and the Village Market for your convenience. And if you're looking to explore this lovely part of the Olympic Peninsula even further, you'll find the charming Victorian town of Port Townsend only 22 miles north.

This house was perfect for us and our visiting family from North Dakota. The view is spectacular. The house is big and had enough space for all. The house is a little outdated but was very clean. Yard is huge. There was a pickleball/basketball court that the family loved.

Bring your own basketball & pickleball paddles/ball to play on nice court.

Big house with lots of good sized sleeping options, very well equipped. Awesome views and easy to get to from Seattle via ferry. Will be back!

The door code given to me didn't work so we had to stand out in the ugly, rain and call Vacasa to get a new code. After 20+ minutes, we finally got it. We thought there was a fire pit, but there wasn't. The "grill" listed was not a BBQ, but a flat-top, so we couldn't do s'mores like we'd planned. The kitchen needed a new set of pans, a cookie sheet, larger cooking dishes (like a 9" x 13" or 10" x 15" Pyrex dish) and serving platters/plates as well as A sharp knife! When a house says it will sleep 10+ people, I would expect it to have more than one 8" x 8" dish. The washer and dryer needed to be deep cleaning and smelled like mold and mildew. On the good side, the beds were comfortable, and the linen closet was nicely stocked. I'm not sure if the listing said anything about having a hair dryer, but it would've been nice to know that they supplied shampoo, conditioner, soap, TP, paper towels, dish soap, new sponge etc. so I didn't have to pack it. The driveway was huge and could easily hold 8+ cars. We didn't like the fact that the garbage from the previous party was taking up 3/4 of the outside, rolling bin and stuck so bad, we had to keep moving it farther and farther away from the house so we could stand walking past it into the house. The stairs on the pulley system were broken so we couldn't get down to the beach and had to use the next-door neighbor's stairs. Looked like someone was getting ready to pour some new concrete stairs, but that didn't help my 85-year-old Uncle.

Overall great location and views. Our sheets are either dirty or stains and the dishes and utensils has dried foods on it. We would stay again in the future.

The house was a great location for what we wanted to do, spend time in Port Townsend and hang out together. The rooms upstairs were great for all the girls to hang out together before they go their separate ways. House had everything we needed and was clean upon arrival.

We had 5 adults and 2 children staying here. There was plenty of room for all of us. We could all be together or if someone wanted privacy they could go to another room. The view of the sound was amazing and we really enjoyed it. It was comfortable and all of the basics were provided. We were here in the winter, but summer visitors would be able to enjoy the outdoor seating and the basketball/pickleball court. There were a few places that could have been cleaner, but overall it was clean. I would stay here again.

My husband had to quickly get off dining room chair as the legs were very wobbly. No TV or internet... no idea why there is a TV there.... no DVD player so couldnt even go out and get a movie. Planned power outage last day so woke up with no coffee or shower before leaving. We should have been told there would be one.

Our friends from Montana joined us for a weekend get away on Shine Road. What a relaxing, enjoyable place to be. The property was clean and inviting. I recommend this accommodation for just about anyone! There is room for couples, families, even small groups. Highly recommend!

The view was awesome. There were also a lot of alternative play areas for kids, such as basketball, pickle ball, sands, and also boardgames in the den and upstairs.
The most remarkable thing was the Mongolian bbq grill. First time experience and we used it all night. It was very intuitive and out was highly delicious. I am still a fan of charcoal ones, but this is an awesome choice for getaways.
Just one thing to consider. If you are sensitive to highway noise, this property may be suitable for you. It was not a big deal for us and we enjoyed and spent a very good time at the property overall.

The location was lovely. Amazing views, very spacious. About a 15-20 minute drive to Port Townsend, which offers many wonderful restaurants and shops. Only issue was the lack of internet and TV reception. Hosts might want to consider a satellite dish to remedy that problem.

I really wanted to like this house. It’s in a nice location by the water, it’s spacious, and the house itself, although a bit outdated, it still nice.
I got there a few hours earlier than my family and friends I’d invited, and I’m glad I did.
The kitchen countertop was still dirty, so I cleaned it. The trash in the kitchen was full, so I took the trash out. (The large trash can outside was full, so I understand if they didn’t have room, however that shouldn’t be the responsibility of the guest)
The main patio lights were not working. The patio table was so dirty, I deep cleaned it myself. The rug in the living room had a lot of dirt spots, I doubt it’s been cleaned in the last year. A few of the dining room chairs were wobbly and need some screws tightened or need to be replaced. There were multiple dirty dishes. Some of the bed covers had stains on them. The fridge had stains inside which I cleaned myself. The sliding screen door to the deck does not slide unless you place your hands on both the top and bottom and slide it in.
I hate to leave such a negative review because it’s a beautiful property, and I hope the owners continue to be able to rent it out to guests, however it definitely needs a deep clean and better quality housekeeping in general. It’s not fair to the guests who are paying good money to walk into an unclean property.

We had a great time with our group of 10 folks - perfect amount of sleeping space, gathering spaces (inside and out) and recreational space (driveway and pickleball court). We loved being able to walk down to the rocky beach just across the little road as well. Unfortunately there were a lot of little things that would have made for a better experience. The grill was absolutely nasty, uncleaned, covered in grease with previously used utensils under the cover. Our fault for not checking this before we bought all the supplies for a cookout, but it was still a very gross experience to encounter. There are not enough kitchen materials for 10 (or 6 for that matter) people to use without having to run the dishwasher almost constantly. The kitchen chairs were all on the verge of falling apart before we even used them our first day there - we spent a lot of time standing and eating around the table because we did not want to be those guests that broke the camel's back. The coffee caraffe also had a sizeable crack in it which made making coffee every morning more of a task than would be expected. The towels and one of the bed's sheets had stains on them which was very gross and not the standard we assumed we were paying for. That also goes for the pillows which were plentiful and completely flat - BRING YOUR OWN PILLOWS! These are some of the disappointments, but hopefully all easily resolvable by Vacasa - otherwise we had a very pleasant stay.

It was great. The house itself was a little dated inside, but appliances are new and everything worked great. We cooked a lot at the house and it had pretty much everything we needed to do so- Well stocked with kitchenware and the basic cooking supplies. Rooms were comfortable- Some more pillows might have been nice but it was sufficient. The bay view was amazing, and access to the water wasn’t as complicated as we anticipated based on the listing details. Low tide was fun for the kids as we found hundreds of crabs under rocks, even shrimp and an eel. We brought inflatable kayaks and had a wonderful time. The bay is very calm. The front road is small and low traffic. The highway behind the house, while invisible, had a lot of road noise… but was not really noticeable from inside the home. The house has great air conditioning- which isnt on the listing by the way and should be updated (we almost didn’t select this home because of that- We stayed in August so it was pretty warm out). We played pickle ball, and lots of basketball (there were two basketballs available there). The grounds were really nice, fruit trees in the back. Watered, green turf would have been nice but not a big deal. The property has irrigation systems but it doesn’t look like they’re in use. There’s a small lake nearby which we loved too- quaint for some light, quiet fishing. Overall, a great little property, but I was not a fan of how early the check out is. 10am is a bit much. Even 11 would be better and a late checkout would have cost another $115.

This was a comfortable stay for 9. All three kids in one room let the rest of the families spread out into the additional beds/sleeping areas. Wireless didn’t work, but we expected it to be spotty, so it wasn’t a deal breaker. Would definitely rent again!

This is a good place to stay if you want to hang out a few days at a location with a great view in quiet environment. If you have places to be in the area, like I did, it's a little remote. The house is large enough to accommodate a large group. The internet and televisions (which the ad says are on cable) were basically inoperative which was a minor issue since we had children with us. The house is needs upgrading as some of the chairs were stained, the oven was dirty and front door was difficult to open. The bedrooms, bathrooms, laundry facilities and kitchen (except for the oven) were fine. Overall, I enjoyed my stay there and with some attention to worn or broken items at the house, it could be a great destination for relaxation.

Lots of space for us!
My family of 8 adults, 2 dogs and 1 baby stayed at Shine Road for the weekend. I just wanted to comment on a few things I read in earlier reviews that I didn't find quite accurate... and were better than the reviews had led me to believe! First, while it wasn't 100% spotless, we found the house very clean. Really the only thing we found were a few pans with some stuck on grease and carpets with dog hair. That didn't bother us, we were thrilled to find a dog friendly home. The internet worked just fine to watch movies on the TVs and use our devices without trouble. The kitchen did have salt, pepper, oil, etc. as well as about every cooking utensil you could need. The water was hard, and had mild sulfur odor, but very hot and good water pressure. We found the futons very comfortable. Maybe most importantly, the reviews made me concerned about getting to the beach, which was the major draw of this property, but the pulley system is both super easy to figure out and very easy to use. If you can walk down stairs, you can get to the beach. We definitely enjoyed ourselves! The one thing I might ask Vacasa to include in their house info is how far up and down the beach you're allowed to walk and/or fish. We know some property owners are sticklers for their tidelines and it would have been nice to know the expectations of the community.
Overall, we loved this house and would definitely come back!

This house is great and the view of the Hood Canal is beautiful. Beach access is across the road and easy. There was plenty of space and we had a good time.
I paid $1450 for 2 nights, so my expectations were that I would get my money's worth. Ummm... no.
If it were my house (and I am a former VRBO owner) I would:
1 Spring clean. We have little people and they found plenty of places that had been ignored. The walls around the trash can in the kitchen were filthy. Utensils put away dirty. Just needs a deeper clean.
2. There weren't enough dishes to accommodate our family. This is an easy fix.
3. There is a cute tennis court with a net (with holes in it). No tennis 🎾 or balls. No net on the basketball hoop; and again, no basketball 🏀. Bummer.
4. The fireplace did not have instructions for safe use. Another easy fix.
5. No recycling can. Come on. This is Washington and we recycle. I had to take our recycling with me.
In summary, this would have been a much better rental if we didn't have to pay almost $800 in fees and taxes that made this last minute rental so expensive and not worth it.

The house was nice. A bit secluded. A+ It was easy to get to. A+. 4 bedroom 3 bath as indicated. Bedding was nice and comfortable. Ample blankets pillows towels.
Now, the reason low review. The double ovens were so dirty they smoked when preheated.
Coffee filters were cone instead of basket shaped. An added expense to buy the right ones for coffee.
The dishwasher worked but so loud and crazy sounding (like a dying cat) we had to turn music up loud to drown out the sound.
There were clocks/white noise machine in every room that didn’t work. 🤔
Ran out of paper towels.
Couldn’t get the fire place to work. When contacted the contact person. I got. Fireplace not for clients. 🤦🏼♀️🤔 so don’t expect to use it.
The sun goes down this time of year at 4 pm. Couldn’t be outside cause a lack of lighting. Specifically the basketball court/tennis. My son was most disappointed in that.
With the internet in and out (which was told to us) there was no way of watching movies at least. (No DVD player) that would be nice. No games either. A deck of cards would be nice to have. Not everyone that stays there lives in the area. We had to buy games on our own.
No reusable shopping bags. It would be nice for the renter if these were available seeing that the store changed for bags.
No way to access the beach. It was all locked up and no idea how to get to it. The Vrbo said there was hot tub. Wasn’t one which was 1of the reason we got this house. No tissues, extra paper towels or napkins. That would’ve been nice. So you know. TVs are roku. 2 one in media room and 1 in loft. The Vrbo also stated canoe wasn’t one. The king bed is upstairs in a room that isn’t a master. Queens in the masters down stairs.
In renting a house for a week a day or more. It’s the little touches that would make the experience more enjoyable.
I hope this helps. Communication and having what you say you have is a must.

Clean comfortable home with great amenities and stunning views
This home was in a nice quiet private location yet easy to find, access was a breeze. Lots of parking space, loved the yard including basketball court and the view deck. The furnishings were comfortable, the house was clean and supplied with everything we needed. The beds were heavenly. I was impressed with the kitchen, spacious and much better stocked than most rental kitchens. I felt like the manager really cared about our experience. We would definitely come back!
