Would like to see it when fully open
The Hotel was closed for maintenance and so our stay was not what we expected. The owner did his best, but it was not good. Also, the credit card machine did not work. Luckily we had enough cash. If not!!!

Quiet
Very lovely, quiet spot. Sitting out on the backsteps watching the sun go down is really marvellous. Very good breakfast
As we should have noticed from earlier reviews, the restaurant (mentioned on Booking) is not in operation. So as we were bicycling, we had to do another 7 hilly miles to Alandroal to get something to eat from a small grocery and the same 7 miles back.

Public humiliation and insults from the owner, who refuses Covid-19 existence
I had the worst experience of my life here. That being said, I can vouch for the good location, if you seek a quiet space, but far from any restaurants or any other social activities. The view of the pool with the water behind it is beautiful. NEGATIVE (Since there isn't enough space below): There were several small things that didn’t really bug me that much at first, and if it wasn’t for the unacceptable attitude from the owner (explained below), I probably wouldn’t complain this hard and just give it a rating of 5 or 6. This were things like: a weird mold smell in the bedroom, total lack of internet in the bedroom(s), pool needing maintenance and better cleaning, and maybe more diversity at breakfast.
Absolutely unacceptable: 1- total disregard for COVID precaution measures. The owner didn’t wear a mask and refused the existence of COVID at all. The staff didn’t wear masks either. Breakfast was buffet style, with shared serving cutlery, with guests, owner and staff walking around with no masks. 2- we checked out at 12 and asked if we could still use the pool during the rest of the afternoon, and got a “of course, enjoy”. Around 16.30, given the high affluence of new guests, the owner approached us very rudely demanding that we leave the pool area because people were complaining about lack of chairs and “that was just unacceptable”, and argued that he had exactly the amount of chairs for the capacity of the property (which was a lie, since there were 12 chairs and the capacity was 22 people). Although we didn’t like the tone, we said we were going to get dry and leave. Not 5 minutes passed, the owner returns and approaches us again with an even more insulting attitude, threatening us that he would call the police to kick us out, because “we were pushing it” and “we should have left already”, in front of several other guests, increasing his tone of voice on purpose so people would think we were in the wrong and humiliating us. I told him I would not accept that tone of voice and said that I already agreed on leaving as soon as I was dry from the pool, to which HE LOOKED ME UP AND DOWN and said “you seem dry to me”, which is BORDERLINE HARASSMENT. At this point I asked for the complaints book, which was denied and accompanied with a new threat on calling the police to kick us out. He also threatened to charge us for another night because of this! As I was fed up with the situation and with the unfair public humiliation, I proceeded to immediately leave. Not before I heard some demeaning comment about my (alleged) sexual orientation, as I was with a female friend, whom he assumed was my partner, and some other xenophobic comments (those, not addressed to me).

Superb
Excellent and quiet location in the beautiful countryside. Rooms at ground floor and with all amenities. Great view from the terrace of the dining and breakfast hall. Very good breakfast. Very friendly staff.
The food was really good but also the most expensive of our 10-day trip in Portugal. Initially I had to get used to the larger dog but he is as friendly as the jolly little one.
