An adorable Caribbean cottage! Such charm and character! Amazing views of the bay from the porch. Comfortable living room for our family of 4. Well stocked kitchen for cooking and making drinks. We made such wonderful memories. We were happy to have some rain to enjoy cards, crafts and relaxing in the house. Outdoor showers were nice.

This was an amazing spot, great views, beautiful landscaping and wonderful decor. The kitchen was well stocked and they had beach gear including a cooler and umbrella which made our beach experience amazing. The beds were comfy and the bedrooms cozy. The manager met us in town to bring us to the unit, which I have mixed feelings about, however she was friendly and said that it helped the client not get lost, which I can see could be a problem. Generally, when I go on vacation I’m just wanting to be just my family members right off the bat. Other than this, I absolutely enjoyed staying here, and hope to come back someday!!

The property location was convenient to Cruz Bay and the scenery was amazing. The hosts were great as they communicated effectively.

Estate at Chocolate Hole is a wonderful villa/house. It’s a quick 4 min drive to Cruz Bay, just up the hill from the Westin. The house is spacious with all the amenities you’ll need for your stay. It has 2 very nice bedrooms(A/C in each bedroom) with bathrooms attached, and an extra room with another bed. We were only a party of 2, so obviously we weren’t crowded at all. Can easily accommodate 2 couples and 2 kids comfortably.
The unique part is the second main bedroom is in a separate guest house 8 steps from the main building. I loved it. The house itself was extremely clean and is stocked with anything and everything you’d ever need for a vacation—all kitchen appliances, bathroom amenities, indoor and outdoor seating, etc. Beach chairs, cooler, and towels are provided. Bring your own snorkel gear. The view is spectacular.
I would, and we did, rent a Jeep. It allows you the freedom to truly enjoy all that St. John offers. We took taxis a few times and they were fine and reliable. $8/person to get to Cruz Bay. The beaches are close—10min to Hawksnest, 15min to Maho. Property manager was great. We only talked to Lauren on our arrival and departure. That’s how stress-free, and issue-free our stay was. We would definitely stay here again. Don’t hesitate to book this place, you’ll be very happy!!!

Myself and 4 friends stayed here. We usually stay at the Westin and this was our first time doing a Vrbo rental. The house was absolutely amazing! Had everything we needed, the best view and the best vibes. The kitchen had everything, both main rooms had AC that worked really well. Very easy to get into town. We walked to the Westin and caught a taxi when we weren’t using our car. We had the best time and will 100% be back at the Estate chocolate Hole!

We absolutely loved the cottage and guest house. We had two couple in our party, so the separate quarters provided ample privacy. The outdoor space was perfect for relaxing with morning coffee and after a long day at the beach. The house was quick to get to from Cruz Bay, but also along Centerline Road for trips to the North side and Coral Bay. The host was very accommodating and shared great tips for the area. We enjoyed cards and games provided at the house most evenings. I will note the property could sleep 6 as the main house had 2 bedrooms, but just a master bath. The separate guest house has a bedroom and en-suite bath. We would certainly return to this property!

The property is really nice - you feel home the moment you walk in. View is amazing and I really enjoyed drinking my morning coffee outside with the ocean in front of my eyes. The house is big and there an additional guest house right next to it which is great in case you have kids. The covered space outside is gorgeous with plenty of space to relax, eat or take a nap (there is an hammock). For people who enjoy to prepare their meals at home (especially given covid) there is a very big assortments of utensils, kitchenware and you won't need to bring anything from home. For us it was really a great spot.

This was an amazing property for our family to stay in for a week! The photos don't do it justice. It is a gorgeous cottage with wonderful amenities and so comfortable. We arrived Christmas night and the host had left all of the lights on and a video of a crackling fire on the TV that was also playing soft Christmas music. So welcoming! It is not clear in the description but there is a whole separate "guest" cottage next to the main cottage, so there are three bedrooms - two with king beds and one with a queen. The two king rooms have great air conditioning and the queen room has so much air flow that it didn't need A/C (in December). The guest cottage has its own bathroom and outdoor shower. The main house kitchen is well-stocked with anything you could need to cook meals. We ate at the cottage a lot because of COVID and there being so many people in town that we weren't able to get dinner reservations - even by calling the week before. It was so nice to have a variety of pots and pans, knives, cutting boards, spices, and anything you could need for cooking. One thing to note if you haven't been to the island is that the roads are crazy steep and winding and are not walkable except in the downtown area and on the trails. This includes the driveway to this property - extremely steep! Rent a jeep if at all possible! We had a sedan car and every time we went up the driveway I wondered if we would make it and we scraped on most of the speed bumps.

This property was recently added to Vrbo and I'm always a bit nervous about selecting a new and unrated property (we're frequent Vrbo renters having rented 3 properties in St John alone this year prior to this trip), but my family and I were pleasantly surprised. The photos, location, and description of the property and its amenities are all accurate. The only thing that I missed in the description of the property is that there is no clothes dryer (a nice new washer but no dryer) which required us to hang our clothes on a clothesline behind the property. I've nothing against the eco-friendly way of drying laundry but due to the humidity, it took a very long time for our clothes to dry and left everything thing with a musty smell. That includes the linens found in the bedrooms, towels, etc., and hence my reason for the 4-star rating on cleanliness (the musty odor). My recommendation to the property owner is to replace that big washer with a small energy-efficient stackable. But, honestly, it's a minor ding.
Another suggestion for the property owner is that although the property is well ventilated, has ceiling fans, and a constant breeze, the summertime high temps and humidity beg for more A/C. primarily in the living room area (not just the window units in the bedrooms which work just fine for those areas). The home is built like most homes on St John that survived Maria with poured concrete walls and masonry that effectively turn the inside into an oven as the sun beats down on it during the day. More fans would help.
Overall, this is a great property and I'd highly recommend it to anyone who has a small family of between 4 and 6. If you're sensitive about drying laundry there's an excellent laundry service nearby and if you're sensitive about warm interiors, I'd suggest waiting until the fall or early spring to rent this property.

Pro’s: great location, beautiful views, nature setting, tree frogs and sounds of nature, very fair price for setting
Con’s: Nest camera over entrance way that presumably can listen to all discussions on front room which is not cool. Outdoor dining room, but no indoor table or even coffee table so all food is outdoor (some mozzies) or crammed on your lap. No normal TV, apparently has Chrome TV, needs an app downloaded, we did not bother. No AC in main room only a loud AC in the master bedroom. Needs a larger frying pan for cooking.

Such a wonderful week we had overlooking St John in this wonderful cottage. All the amenities required from beach chairs, towels, soaps & shampoo to all the cooking utensils required & grill! Perfectly located near Cruz Bay so quick access to restaurants, beaches but also a bit removed so you can get out of the rush when you want.
