About this house rental
Nestled in the heart of Torrey, Utah just 5 minutes from spectacular Capitol Reef National Park, with many restaurants and hiking/biking trails right out the front door, this is the place to stay while exploring the mountains and desert nearby. There is excellent internet and cell coverage perfect for working remotely.
You'll love this spacious apartment! It has everything needed for a comfortable stay. The kitchen is fully equipped for preparing your favorite meals with views right from the large windows.
There are two spacious bedrooms with queen size beds in each. The bathroom has an illuminated mirror, sink and vanity area and a shower/tub combo. It is fully stocked with everything you might need while away from home.
The living room/dining area has two large, comfy recliners and a large couch to relax and watch the flatscreen TV. The private laundry room is fully stocked and supplied with everything you might need.
When you arrive, you will go up the front stairs to your private entrance on the east side of the building, Door #4. There is a keyless contactless entry system. We will supply you with the entry code after booking and before your check-in date. The backdoor opens onto a large deck and an expansive view of Velvet Ridge Mesa and steps leading down to a spacious 3/4 acre, fully fenced backyard. There is ample free parking.
I have hosted Airbnb homes on and off since 2016 and I recently bought this space- May 2021. During this new management transition I will be working out all the hiccups and getting to know the property. It is a work in progress and my aim is to make your travels and your stay as relaxing and convenient as possible.
The house has 4 apartments in it. Three of them are connected via sealed entrances that can be opened for large groups. There will be other people sharing the building during your stay, so expect to share walls, parking, porches, and the backyard. I live close by and I am available via messaging/phone all the time and you can contact or message me with any questions or needs. I love meeting new people and hearing about your travels.
Other things to note
THERE IS NO GROCERY STORE IN TORREY. The nearest shopping is in Loa, Utah- 17 miles away. Come prepared with groceries or contact Danielle and arrange to have groceries delivered in advance for a nominal fee
Weather: Torrey is located at 6,800 ft above sea level, so we thankfully don’t get the intense heat that other desert towns experience. Summertime temperatures range from the mid 80's to low 90's during the day and mid 50's to mid 60's at night. Winter high temps are mostly in the mid 30’s to lower 50’s with a few days in the 20’s. Snow doesn't stay long in Torrey but there is plenty of it up on nearby Boulder Mountain.

Nice place, second floor step. Met our needs. Steps to condo could use some care.

Enjoyed our stay at the Heart of Utah. Great space and great host. Had all the essentials in the kitchen and bathroom. Easy driving to the Capitol Reef hikes and especially Sunset point that allowed us to experience great sunsets. Host provided coffee that was local and excellent.

Everything was just as we needed it to be. The place was clean, comfortable and well stocked. We walked across the street to a restaurant for dinner. There is a coffee shop and an creamery right in front of the lodging. It was only a short drive to beautiful Capital Reef National Park.

The apartment is clean, spacious and as pictured. We appreciated the washer/dryer after two weeks on the road. Coffee was provided - it was excellent. You’re walking distance to food options and we highly recommend the taco truck. Danielle was a friendly and responsive host! The views out back are beautiful- a convenient and great place to stay if visiting Capitol Reef.

We enjoyed our stay. Close to the park & a few options for eating. Comfortable beds & plenty of space for our needs. I was impressed with the eco-conscious care & encouraging more sustainable practices by both the owner & surrounding businesses. That was a definite plus for me!

This apartment exceeded my expectation. It was comfortable, much larger than I expected, and had everything my daughter and I needed after long days of hiking: laundry, full kitchen, two comfortable bedrooms. The first night we arrived, it was quite warm and I enjoyed sitting on the deck at sunset. Then it snowed and Danielle was out early shoveling the deck for us. She clearly is taking a lot of care to make this a comfortable spot for guests, and I really enjoyed the magazine she and friends put together about local businesses and artisans--some operate right in front of the apartments. Even though Torrey has no supermarket, Austin's Chuckwagon store a block away had everything we could have needed on vacation. We loved staying here in Torrey, loved the town, loved Capitol Reef, and loved the whole feeling of this place.

The space is very spacious, comfortable and very close to Capitol Reef. Danielle was easy to communicate with and ensured we had everything we needed. Our daughters loved the sheep next door and playing in the snow. The cafe right in front of the property have great coffee and delicious food. We would stay here again if we come back to the area.

Ms. Rodier's Desert Dwelling Inn is a great property to stay at while you're in Torrey UT. It's cozy, comfortable and in a great location if you're exploring Capitol Reef National Park, Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument. We never had the pleasure of meeting Ms. Rodier in person; however, she was very hospitable and professional in the communications we did have. My wife and I travelled from Brian Head UT to Torrey UT via Scenic Byway UT 12 and Ms. Rodier recommended we stop in Boulder UT and have dinner at Hell's Backbone Grill & Farm. What an amazing 5 star gourmet restaurant in the charming town of Boulder. The food, service, ambience and hospitality were second-to-none. Our deepest thanks to Ms. Rodier for her recommendation.

We just finished up with a week long tour of Capitol Reefs/Escalante/Bryce Canyon while staying at the Desert Dwelling. Danielle was just fabulous and so attentive ahead of time and while we were there. When we arrived all tired out from our long day of traveling she already had a high chair & pack and play set up and ready to go (which was totally unexpected). My daughter loved looking at the chickens in the backyard and the sheep next door! The lodging itself is highly functional and has everything you could need. Our favorite part was the location right behind the café and scoop shop (which we visited one too many times!). Thanks so much to Danielle for a great experience and I would highly recommend this spot for anyone looking to stay in Torrey.

Property was neat, tidy and very clean. It appears to have been updated recently. Furnishings are not “trendy”, but rather homely comfortable and suited to the dwelling. Was well equipped for self catering which we appreciated. Also well located for exploring Capitol Reef.
Suited us very well and would stay again.
Thank you for a great stay!

Great experience at Danielle’s place! We were only there 2 nights and wish we had longer. Danielle thought of everything. Kitchen had everything and great pans! Loved the coffee! We slept so good. The bedroom we used had the most comfortable mattress. The living room had the must comfortable recliners. Having a washer and dryer was so nice. These are both large too! The little extras supplied in the bathroom did not go unnoticed. We are at a restaurant across the street both nights and then enjoyed ice cream at the creamery. Perfect location for visiting Capitol Reef. Best part was waking up both mornings to beautiful views and the 4 chickens. I loved them! Thank you for a wonderful stay!

So this place is great with a couple of little issues for some people. It is nice and roomy and has all the conveniences you might need. You can easily walk to the general store, which had the basics most people might need. It is steps from the Wild Rabbit Cafe which is incredible. It has a great kitchen. If you really love AC, you might be slightly disappointed. There are window units in the living area, and both bedrooms. The units worked well, but didn't cool the bathroom or the kitchen well. The bed that my husband and I stayed in was not super comfortable. I got very little sleep because I woke up every time he moved. I would definitely stay there again if it were only my husband and I (that way I could have my own bed).

Good place for the area
The place was clean but needed updating. It also was not the unit I reserved according to the pictures on the internet. The communication from the property manager was terrible! I got 1 message from her when I booked the place and then nothing. I had to contact her when I got there to find out what unit I was in and how to get into the unit. I then got several messages about what to expect upon arrival and my unit information which I should have received before I arrived at 7:30pm.

Great Place!
We stayed one night and everything was perfect! We arrived in the area earlier than we planned and were allowed to check in early. Beds were comfortable and we appreciated the coffee that was provided.

Great find near Capitol Reef
We loved staying in this lovely apartment for our visit to Capitol Reef. It's larger than it appears, immaculately clean, quiet, and convenient. Danielle was easy to communicate with. We had a little trouble with the keyless entry until we figured out that you need to hit zero before entering the code.
