About this house rental
The Big Tatanka is the perfect place to experience the Ozarks. This gorgeous 2 story home sits on the bank of the White River at Buffalo Shoals in a private setting with walk in access to the river, allowing you to enjoy one of the most beautiful locations in the Ozarks. The Big Tatanka offers plenty of space to spread out and enjoy your stay. The home sleeps 15. The main level includes dining for 15, a full kitchen, a large great room, 3 full bathrooms, 3 bedrooms, and a deck overlooking the river. The lower level offers a 2-car garage, 2 bedrooms, 1 full bath, a large great room, foosball table, refrigerator, microwave, and patio. For the more adventurous types, the home is approximately 2 miles to a Buffalo National River hiking trail, approximately 6 miles to the Ranchettes public boat launch on the White River, and approximately 9 miles to a public launch access on the Crooked Creek. We would be happy to connect you with some local guide services if you have a desire to book a guided fishing trip while staying with us.

What a great location for large families. Peaceful and great outdoor space to play and venture on the river. Very clean and fully supplied. Sandy was helpful and was available for anything we needed. Looking forward to a return visit.

The house has the most amazing views od the white river from multiple decks and patios. A beautiful property with ample room to walk and hosted all of our family without feeling cramped. A true gem 8n Northern Arkansas!

We came to Flippin to relax, kayak, and do a little fishing. We had 4 adults, a teen, and an 11 yr old. This home was the perfect set up. We had plenty of room to let the kids play around and the adults relax.
Sandy was a great host from check-in to check- out. She made sure we had everything we needed, answered questions we had about the river access, and even came out to make sure everything was okay after a storm. We have only good things to say about our stay!

My wife and I along with our 3 kids, my sister, her husband and their 2 kids, and my parents, all met here for a sat-tuesday long weekend with the monday eclipse being the highlight. We wanted somewhere a little off the beaten path and this spot was perfect! Large, clean house, plenty of room to accommodate the 11 of us. So very peaceful and quiet. Beautiful view right on the white river, several bald eagle spotting's every day we were there so bring some binoculars if you have them. Kitchen stocked with all the necessities, a grill out back, cornhole, the girls enjoyed the rock painting garden, firepit was great. Walk in river access was very nice. Love that there was not much else around the property but a short 20-40 min drive to stores if needed and some good hiking. Would recommend the Indian Rock Trail hike, it was about a 45 min drive from the property. Overall, loved the place with plenty of privacy and quiet surroundings. And the eclipse was amazing of course!! Sandy was excellent host and had great communication with anything we needed. Would definitely come back!!

We have a large family and celebrated Thanksgiving on the White this year. We had plenty of room for all. And it was a perfect kitchen (well stocked with pots/utensils) for cooking. We loved being on the river for fishing and exploring and used the fire pit for s'mores! Really great place and host were very helpful.

This place is unbelievable. So beautiful. Sandy is amazing. Best place I’ve stayed at so far. We stay at at least four or five places a year and this one is by far our favorite. We will be staying here again. Thank y’all so much.

This lovely property on White River is amazing. Everything about it was simply perfect and I’m not exaggerating. From breathtaking views from the balcony to having a lot of beds and sofas and games…this house have it all. Sandy and Scott are amazing people and we hope to be back to their place again.

Had a great weekend in the house! Was as advertised. Only thing I wished was better was the Wifi even though im sure they have limited options given the location. Would definitely stay there again and recommend!

Sandy did a fabulous job giving special attention to details. She welcomed us with a personal tour of the property, she provided a gift basket that had something suitable for all ages and provided fresh vegetables from her garden. There was always something to do, such as, kayaking, fishing, cornhole, painting, sightseeing, and just relaxing on the deck or by the river. It's a beautiful place with very friendly hosts. It's definitely a place we would visit again.

If you are looking for a large property directly on the river with walk-in access, this is your place! We had a great time fly fishing, playing games, cooking, using the firepit for hot dogs and s'mores, watching the bald eagles over the river, listening to the shoals, relaxing and spending down time together. Our crew had 6 adults and 3 teens/tweens and we plenty of space. The place was very clean and the owners had great communication. It was also extremely well stocked for cooking, etc. It is a pretty remote location (at least for us city people) but that was fine by us. All the little extras made this place great for a getaway. There is no cell service (at least with AT&T) but there is Wi-Fi.

The property is very well decorated and clean. They thought of everything you could need in the kitchen, from a crock pot, blender, toaster, etc. to plenty of pots and pans, dishes and silverware. Couldn't have felt more like home. The river view is wonderful and if weather had been better for us, lots of fishing to be had. Just an overall excellent location.

This was a perfect getaway in an absolutely outstanding home. Everything was breathtaking, every detail was attended to and the view of the river from the deck was unparalleled. Our host was delightful, helpful and accommodating to our need. Strongly recommend this as a must go to for your next Ozark vacation to anyone want the perfect place to relax in luxury.

Sandy went above and beyond to make sure our stay was fantastic. We had a small wedding here and it was more magical then we could have imagined. This property was perfect for our wedding, but I would also be perfect for a family reunion, a fishing trip, or just a get away. This property has it all- literally. I would 100% recommend.

We took all our kids and grandkids to the white river to celebrate my birthday! The house accommodation were perfect! 3 bathrooms on top floor and one on the bottom all had plenary of towels and wash clothes as well as travel size soap and shampoo!! Very easy check in and check out! Had all the kitchen gadgets and dishes we needed plus a cute set of plastic kid dishes they loved! Big refrigerator held all our meal supplies and we cooked every meal at the house—including grilling the fresh trout we caught off the bank! We enjoyed the fire pit at night and made s’mores! Check out was easy peas-everything back in its place and used towels in the hampers! All our kids loved this place and we want to come back next year! Sandy is a great host!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay on the White River at this lovely accommodation. The home is even better than the pictures. The property managers were great and very attentive to our every need. We had plenty of space for our family of 10. Kitchen was very spacious. Bedrooms and bathrooms were great. The home is nicely decorated and had everything we needed. All in all, we had a great time.

First class property and hosts! The property is super clean and the hosts have thought of most everything in amenities. Especially love the deck overlooking the river and listening to the Schulz. So bald eagle most every day. Fabulous place to get away with a fairly large family we had 12. The splash pad in Yellville and the big Spring and rope swing in Cotter or terrific for the children. The yard and house were great for games and just being together. Very impressed with this great place to get away. Also had a great trout fishing guide.

Amazing host and beautiful property
One of the most beautiful properties we have stayed on while visiting the White River. The host went above and beyond in making sure we have an enjoyable experience. Plus note I caught my biggest brown trout if 24 inches fishing right behind the back porch. The house was clean organized and had all of the amenities needed for our stay.

Wonderful property!
First let me say that the owners are the nicest people! Superb communication and a pleasure to deal with at every stage of renting a property.
The home is large and perfect for a big group like ours (8-9 adults and 2 children); we never felt crowded in any room. The bedrooms are so nice, all beds are comfortable, and 3 full bathrooms on the main level was a HUGE bonus. There's also a full bath downstairs, along with a large bedroom, sitting room, kitchenette, and bunk beds. Plenty of towels, too!
Outdoor spaces are large, well maintained, plenty of parking, and use of garages was SO appreciated (it rained several times during our stay). We used the main level deck, the downstairs patio, AND the gazebo you don't see in the pictures. Lots of family came to visit during our week, and we always had plenty of space!
Kitchen is wonderful! We cook most meals, and we had every pot, pan, bowl, appliance, dish & silverware we needed. Second sink and the small refrigerator downstairs was helpful, too.
The only issue for some people may be the stairs, which is mentioned several times in the description. Folks with bad knees be warned.
The direct river access was phenomenal. We rent fishing boats each year, and it was wonderful to be able to come ashore right at the house for lunch or breaks. You also get the sound of the river rushing over rocks while sitting on the deck - just perfect.

We had our families drive up from Texas for our daugthers graduation. The house is amazing with easy access to the river and beautiful views. The host is very accommodating, the house feels like home with alot of little "extras" to make your stay comfort. As someone who has offered their own VRBO in the past we really appreciated the extra coffee, laundry pods, and many other items too numerous to list. It was like staying at your very own vacation home. The multiple outdoor sitting areas are comfortable and great for breaking out into intimate groups. Of course, the sound of the rapids on White River are the show stopper. We can't recommend this enough.
