This is a charming cottage within walking distance of beaches, hiking and downtown Leland. It was perfect for our 2 week stay. The owner is very helpful and made everything easy for us. You will truly get a feel for Leland while staying here.

We stayed in the Dean cottage for 6 nights in July. It’s an older cottage as advertised which is what we grew up with and throughly enjoyed. The location is ideal for walking to Fishtown, Leland and the Beach. The only thing I missed was the ability to have a bonfire under the clear starry sky.

We like to spend a week in Leelanau every summer, and found this place in our budget. The owner contacted us in advance to make sure we were okay staying in an early 1900s cottage, meaning it was original design and not modern luxury. We liked the location and saw that despite being old, it was well kept and clean, and relatively private even though on the main road going into Leland. We appreciate that Hugh communicated the overall feel beforehand, and that he checked in to make sure all was well. The place had loads of space. Way bigger than we needed, but it was nice to spread out. Very clean bathrooms. Open kitchen and dining room were great to prepare our meals. Just 2 blocks from a small public access beach with few people, where we spent every night watching the sunset and eating picnic dinner. Easy walk into town, or quick drive to grocery store, just a few blocks from the cottage. All in all it worked very well for us!

The cottage is larger than the photos show and in a great location. A pristine neighborhood beach that very few people use is a few blocks away. Leland is a short walk too and booking a charter is a must-do for anyone who likes to go fishing. The beds are comfortable so no concerns there. This cottage is not for those expecting a modern kitchen, luxury bathrooms, and a hot tub on the deck. It is well-suited for people who appreciate traditional cottage life and want to be close to all the nice towns along M-22.

This home is exactly as advertised and is even more spacious. As seen in the photos it is older and it feels like an older home but it's not a surprise. You have everything that you need. It is 100% about the location. We spent almost every night at the beach which is a few quiet blocks away. Downtown is also a few blocks away and it was so nice not to need our car for shopping and nights at the beach. We were only 3 people but there was room for 8! We spent our week exploring many of our favorite spots in the area with lots of hiking, boating, swimming and wandering. We loved our stay!
