The staff were excellent and really made you feel welcomed. The theme of the hotel was wonderful and very well done. The room was very comfortable and warm. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend and we will stay again in the future.
We couldn't find anything we didn't like.
4.7
Overall, the service and especially the quality of food which was excellent in very good portions. Serving staff were very attentive.
The location was ok: convenient for travelling to local places.
Room had everything I needed and the bathroom was superb.
A lack of attention to some details: I was given the wrong room and although the manager apologised and gave me an evening meal “on us” she still tried to charge for £6 worth of a coke and a coffee with the free meal.
I asked for the room to be serviced, leaving the sign on the door handle as the information booklet asked, but the room was left untouched and afterwards I had to ask twice for things to be replaced.

The staff at the Railway Hotel are super helpful and cannot do enough for you from Manuel the Manager, through Mia on Reception who booked us in, to Pauline our waitress at breakfast who went over and above including letting us know that it was Moussa, the Head Chef, who prepared our delicious breakfast choices. We stayed in one of the smaller rooms, but, as always at the Railway Hotel, the railway-themed décor was delightful and we were very comfortable.

Staff were welcoming..the hotel was super clean.. Everything apart from the bed..it was a little uncomfortable
Quality of the bed wasn't up to the standard of the rest of the hotel which was excellent

Railway memorabilia and food. Friendly staff.
Found the bed a bit too soft but that is personal preference. Everything else excellent.

Liked the themed setting in the room, very clean, great quantity of coffee and tea supplies in the room. Breakfast was tasty and good amount. Friendly and helpful staff.

Excellent breakfast, spotlessly clean and loved the chocolate and rock in room .

The decor is very nice but its style over substance. The breakfast was very good. The staff were kind and friendly. Plenty of parking. Location was good for my needs.
The bed was possibly the worst i've ever stayed on and I stay in hotels around 20 times a year, Lumpy, springy and worn out. Id rather have had less decor and a better quality bed. Genuinely think this is the same mattress from way back before the renovation. The room is extremely compact and I would not recommend it for 2 people, there isnt enough room to put anything out and the bathroom is literally a toilet and a shower like a caravan set up. Turn the shower on and the toilet and toilet floor are covered!
Also I was hoping to have dinner and was told it was quiz and quiche night and that was the only option so I had to go to town to find food.

The accommodation was first class, the hotel has been restored on the lines of a Railway station, many original features, throughout. The dining car is where we ate our delicious breakfast! The staff are so helpful and friendly, nothing was too much trouble and we could not fault the service. The hotel has restored my faith in British hospitality - it is FIRST CLASS!!
there was nothing we didnt like, we loved the whole experience.

Unique, individual setting and decor. Very clean with attention to detail.
Mattress not very comfortable

Character and friendly staff. Food good quality and generous portions.
Our room, although very well appointed and spotless, lacked storage space and bit cramped from bathroom to bedroom..

Staff were excellent!
Directions to the property exact locations as I took a while finding it!

Thoroughly enjoyed the railway theme and particularly the restaurant with its emphasis on the orient express. Very comfortable room and an excellent breakfast.

We ate dinner and breakfast here. The food was lovely and we enjoyed both very much. The room was excellent and fun. Probably one of the cleanest hotel rooms I have ever stayed in. Plus the windows opened fully which is pretty unusual (and necessary in the summer). The only problem we had was an inconsiderate guest in the room next door who had the TV on until the early hours of the morning (still going at 2am) which showed us that the walls don't stop sound carrying through. But an inconsiderate guest is not really the fault of the hotel. I'd stay here again, hopefully in a different room so I get to see more of the individually themed rooms.
I'm not sue that there was anything that could have been better. It was more than we expected for the price, location and general description.

Welcoming but non intrusive to female solo traveller, showed me where everything was, explained building layout etc. Straight forward and helpful. Very clean. Lovely decor and attention to small details, practical or otherwise.
Very hot, there was a fan provided but I’m guessing due to fire doors and health and safety window restriction in place preventing much natural airflow. No evening meal available, which I knew before I arrived, but it would have made my stay easier.

the mattress on the bed was rather uncomfortable!

The decor was lovely, cleanliness. Fantastic breakfast & the staff were all top class.
The town was very quiet but it was bank holiday Easter weekend.

Staff were very friendly and the breakfast was excellent. We loved the theme of the hotel.
For our tastes the pillows were a but soft, but not enough to complain.
Although the weather was fairly cold and wet we needed to keep the heating on in our room all night. This kept the room warm but we would expect not to have to do that.
4.7
Room was spacious clean and good value.
Breakfast and staff were excellent.

Lovely railway themed hotel - fresh and clean decor. Staff excellent - friendly, helpful and thoughtful. Particular mention to Gareth whom checked us in and showed us around - making sure that elderly mother with mobility challenges would be looked afterwards

The hotel was so clean and our room was set out as a beach. Our wardrobe was styled as a beach hut and the bathroom was beach themed. Each room had a railway name. The breakfast was excellent.
There was nothing I disliked. Really happy with everything and will certainly stay there next time we are in the area.
