We really enjoyed staying in this little cottage. The house is really functional, clean and has everything we needed for a pleasant stay. Having washer and dryer was very convenient. We used the boards, beach chairs and flippers they had in the cottage, which was great as well. We especially enjoyed the garden, where we had our meals. It is really green, quiet (except the birds singing :)) and private. Kids loved the chickens and cats running around.
The hosts (Karina and Bill) are wonderful people. We enjoyed having a conversation with them few times on our way to the beach. They welcomed us into their property and gave us fruits from their garden.
We will be coming back in the future!

Bill and his wife Katrina are some of the most amazing people we have met on the big island. We have been there visiting often on for years and their property. Its location to Kona is amazing! Not only do you have Captain Cook and the tropical area you also have the dry and mild climate of Kona 15 minutes away. They’re literally right on the line. Where are you? Have some of the tropical stuff that Hawaii is famous for but you also have the warm weather right next door with a Kona.
The house is beautiful and well-kept and the property has amazing trees flowers in year-round, beauty.
Bill and his wife can send you to some cool places that are not on any brochure as they have lived there for decades..
I would recommend this property to anybody who wants to have an amazing time. It’s very quiet and the frogs at night will put you to sleep. !
All of the amenities that Kona has to offer are 15 minutes away and we can’t wait to come back and enjoy the beauty again here hopefully soon !

We stayed at this cute one bedroom cottage for 10 days to celebrate our 50th Anniversary and my birthday. Our hosts. Bill and Karina were amazing, very communicative and helpful, and made us feel like part of the family.
The property is very clean, and the Coqui frogs lulled us to sleep every night. It rained on and off, but it was so warm it didn't matter. Because it is on the edge of the rain forest, it was about 10 degrees cooler than at ocean level, so it was very pleasant to sit on the deck to have meals, read, and look at the lovely vegetation. There are kitties on the property and chickens, but no roosters, so no crowing at all.
Bill and Karina encouraged us to reach out with any questions, concerns, or requests. The property is gated so it feels, and is, very private and safe. There is a Wal-Mart and Costco within a half hour, so very reasonable shopping for the area.
If we return to the big island, we will absolutely want to book this location again. It is totally a home away from home. Thank you Bill and Karina for being such amazing hosts!

Great private place to stay on Big Island
This property is perfect for 2 to stay up and away from the daily hustle. Secluded but yet only 10-20 minute drive to grocery markets and Kailua-Kona. Cool evenings with breezes with no need for air condition. Soothing natural sounds from frogs, birds make for great rest. Kitchen is well stocked with what’s needed including many spices. High quality appliances, very quiet dishwasher. Bill and Karina are excellent property owners. We were greeted upon arrival with great information on the property and information on the island. We had plenty of privacy during our stay.

Charming cottage in the jungle
What I liked: Charming cottage surrounded by mature tropical plants, palm trees and deciduous trees, nicely updated, but still has a feel of old Hawaii.
The morning explodes with bird songs. Owners are very friendly and hospitable, they grow papayas and bananas on the property and we would often find gifts of fruit on the lanai table outside. Conveniently located close to some of the island's many attractions south of Kona. The owners also very generously shared beach chairs and toys.
What I didn't like: The TV is mounted on a wall which is at 90º to the couch. The bathroom is quite small, the shower head produces a very fine spray and it takes a long time to rinse off any soap from your body. The approach driveway is very steep and requires some faith that your rental car will make it up there (it did). The kitchen has wood counter tops, although very beautiful, they need to be kept dry at all times (as per request of the owners) which is impractical, especially around the sink.

Beautiful Location
The rental unit is located in a quiet and safe neighborhood away from city noise, surrounded by tranquility and the beauty of nature but it's only a few minutes drive to Keahou Shopping Center. It's absolutely the perfect way to end a full day of island activities. Bill and Karina are just the most gracious hosts. Bill responds very quickly to text messages or emails with any inquiries you may have including island activities or must-see places around the Big Island. The property actually looks more beautiful than the pictures on this site; and it's clean too. It felt like we were in the middle of a rainforest with the sounds of nature around us. The unit was also equipped with complete kitchen equipment, utensils, supplies, etc.
We would definitely stay here again.
Highly recommended!

Great spot just outside the hustle and bustle
I used this listing as a getaway while moving off the island back to the mainland and was greeted by very responsive hosts and a cozy modern cabin in the heart of the jungle just outside of town. It’s far enough away to be outside of the bustle but close enough that it’s a 5 minute drive to the store (KTA Keauhou). bring bug spray, it is the jungle! There is nothing negative to say about the property at all.
