All the staff are very kind and helpful. Latiffa was a great hostess for the event: Karaoke Night! I especially cared for the value of the staff to be mindful people and down to earth too!
Nothing went wrong.

This was my first time at a hostel in many years and I loved it! It was clean, comfortable and efficient.
Planes fly right above the hostel. I have noise canceling headphones so it didn’t bother me. I actually enjoyed watching them fly overhead but for light sleepers it could be a problem.

The staff was super friendly and nice. They had breakfast.
#1 no private bathroom. We didn’t realize this when we booked. Bathrooms are shared with everyone else staying at the hotel which was gross to me. We weren’t allowed to plug in styling tools or hair dryer in the room so you had to get ready in a bathroom with other strangers. We had a private room but it was so tiny. Sheets looked old and had stains. Bed was uncomfortable. Towels looked old and faded (think black towel that’s been washed a million times). To top it off, walls were paper thin, we could literally hear the entire conversation of the people in the adjacent rooms. It was super noisy all night (even though they have signs that quiet time is at 11pm). We couldn’t sleep at all due to all the noise. You could literally hear the other people going in and out of their rooms and walking in the hall it was so bad.

Check-in process was very long with a long list of instructions. Room size was very small and the staff did not let you adjust your room temperature (It was kept locked inside a box) as they have a common thermostat across rooms (Can you believe it?). Ended up paying more than what I would have paid at Holiday Inn even though it was a holiday weekend based on online prices when I checked. They also offer a discount on in-house meals in lieu for a 5 star review that explains why it has a good rating. Someone also ended up scratching my car while it was parked during my stay.

Since I travel with Zero expectations, of course they were all met!! I walked to the hostel and was late getting there, they waited for me, acting like I was right on time!! I made one request and it was granted!! Another plus....my room was right next to the restroom!! I enjoy breakfast, so that was definitely a plus! The facilities were cleaned every day and offered many options, many I did not use or need. The highlight of my stay was the "people"!! Staff and guests! Staff made you feel welcome and valued! Most guests invited conversation! I am extra thankful for Andrew, Andrea and Ana as they at different times went out of their way in helping me navigate my stay with helpful suggestions and advice. They alone would be a strong magnet in making another visit to California Dreamin-Ocean Beach!! They deserve a tip and I forgot to leave one!! Another reason to stay again!!
Not a biggie, but coming from the East(different time zone) the 8 30 bfast start time seemed Late!! ( expressed by other guests too)

Loved the other people staying at the hostel. Hostel staff were excellent, very helpful. TV was great, hot tub was nice but should be free for the cost of a singles room. Bathrooms were very clean in the morning.
I thought breakfast would have a bit more variety for dry food, usually oatmeal etc. No ice is kinda a bummer. Micro transactions are a bit much!
Bedroom had hairs and little things on the floor near bed, light was dusty. I think they could upgrade some things like the door hinges bc they are so loud in the morning.

The staff were very professional and nice, bed and sleeping conditions were great, I had no problems sleeping

Super friendly and everybody is trying to help you if you need something. Everything was clean and fine
The bikes aren't very great and a liitle bit expensive in my opinion.

Lateefa was exceptional and answered our questions and took care of our needs! All the staff were more than happy to assist.
Can't say we disliked anything.

Communal facilities are really good - large kitchen, dining area, TV room, outdoor pool and hot tub (additional charge). Also offers hire services such as bikes and surf boards.
Breakfast included (which includes toasted bagels)
The location. It is not in Ocean Beach (despite the name) - it's 1.3 miles away from Ocean Beach in a residential area (Point Loma Heights) with not much around in the immediate area and no decent public transport links.
Parking is available though so not a massive issue if you have a car.

I liked the lockers in the room and hallway. Each bunk had privacy curtain, night light and phone charger outlet. kitchen facilities with your own cubby. clean facilities and friendly staff. Great area.
4.3
staff there were fantastic! shout out to Marcella who gave me very warm welcome, and being very friendly and helpful!
as a hostel, it very clean and organised. the large locker exceeded my expectation, and the curtains at the bunk bed are really thoughtful.
if you don’t drive and also don’t want to Uber, then getting around may be a bit of a trouble. but it’s close enough to many things that if you drive, it’s a very sweet spot to be in.

Valeria, the receptionist was an amazing staff! She recommended to us various places to go and definitely made us feel extremely welcomed. The facilities in the hostel were perfect! The lobby was clean. They provided breakfast too! The rooms felt very clean and well-maintained. They also provided towels which was a plus. There were also bicycle rentals available.
Nothing! Everything was perfect.

It was my first time traveling solo so being warmly welcomed was extremely nerve relaxing. The staff....especially Sam made my stay an unforgettable experience. If I am to return to California this is where I'd stay again. It was amazing. 10/10 guys. And thanks again
Nothing. Everything was fabulous.

The room was smaller than expected and you could hear almost every sound in the building besides being right under the flight path...

Very good value for money. The place is nice and people are friendly. My only issue was the parking, where no free or paid parking if you reach at night. I even got a ticket in the last night of stay. Beside this, facility and people were very nice and I would recommend it as a hostel in San Diego.
Unavailability of parking
You might wait sometimes for a toilet
Breakfast is kind of served late starting at 8:30

Behavior is excellent.
Location is far from the sea.
