I had an amazing stay! First and foremost, the staff were extremely helpful in making sure I had the best experience, location was central to Annupuri Ski Resort (3 min walk), and dinner was prepared on request. I am very pleased to say that I will be returning to Country Inn Milky House in the future 😃

Such a great stay right next to the slopes! The staff at Milky were very kind and welcoming. The house feels like a traditional Japanese style home with modern appliances. We loved our room! It was plenty big for the two of us. Everything about staying at Milky was amazing. Just a short walk to the slopes! We will definitely be back!

The Country House Milky Inn consists of the main Inn plus a separate cottage a half mile away (located on the main road before turning onto the road that leads to the Inn), which is where we stayed. Staying at the cottage includes breakfast at the Inn. The cottage, although just off the main road, is quiet at night. The cottage has 3 floors. You enter onto floor 2, which has a boot room, small living room and kitchen, and toilet with sink (the Booking site photos for the cottage show two toilets but the Cottage has only one). The floor below has two bedrooms, one with 2 single beds and one with 3 single beds, and a shower room with tub and sink (no toilet). The upper floor is a loft with space to lay out 5 single futons (3 fit comfortably, 4 leaves little add’l room, 5 would be quite tight but doable). The bedrooms have black out curtains but no curtains in the loft. The loft has lovely big windows which are atmospheric and fun to watch the snow fall from. The apartment is well appointed and clean. Our daily breakfasts at the Inn were a real joy. The food is excellent with multiple options and something different every day. The Inn itself has a both modern and traditional feel, with fireplace and big picture windows. The owner is one of the nicest and most helpful proprietors I’ve ever come across and takes pride in offering a top notch guest experience. We ate dinner twice at the Inn. It is a bit pricey but we’ll worth it, with excellent local ingredients and a fantastic chef who is able to create a stunning variety of both western and Japanese dishes. We had Christmas dinner at the Inn and the owner made it so special that it will be a fond memory for years to come. The cottage has no laundry but you can have a load washed and dried (not folded) at the Inn for a reasonable fee and turnaround time of about 24 hours. The Inn itself is a short 5 minute walk uphill to the resort, but I believe they provide a shuttle. You can ski back to the Inn.
The cottage has kerosene heaters, which do emit an odor on occasion. They are confusing to operate so we recommend not touching them without first getting instructions from the owner on how to adjust the temperature. There are also little stink bugs that like to hang out by the windows on the top floor especially, and occasionally on the second floor. They are benign and we’d just gather them in a tissue and toss them out the window. They didn’t bother us in the least but some people are extremely bug averse so it’s something to know. The only real drawback for us was having one bathroom. We were a party of 7 including 2 girls, so it was doable but there were some crossed legs in the morning waiting for the toilet. For our nightly showers, we just went to onsens and showered and brushed teeth there instead of waiting to shower one by one at the cottage.

Staffs are kind. House is beautiful!
The toilet is a little clogged sometimes. In one room, desk lamp and heater are out of control.
