Great food and spoil, would thoroughly recommend as a
Weekend getaway , but if you are looking for complete romantic privacy then it’s not for you , people can be heard in other rooms , but the hosts do everything to ensure you feel special
, great spot
More privacy

the view was amazing
it is really far out, which is fine.
however, on arrival, for a 5star establishment, they dont even offer you a snack or a cup of tea.
Felt like there were too many staff around, and for such a small establishment, sometimes you need more privacy.
The 4 bedrooms were also very small & very on top of the other guests.
We could hear the other guests talking from our bedroom.
The shower entrance was way too small to get into the shower.
no cushions on the outside balcony of our bedroom.
The bed was very short, especially for my tall husband.
Also, i think its a rare occurrence to see any wild horses, so thats false advertising.

Location , quietness and hospitality
The road to the place . The gravel road is long and rough
The food is good but not tasty
The food caters for only one culture and lacks African touch .
Muesli everyday for breakfast, I thought there is a room for change
R4700 a night for a small room like that , you expect a suite

The food was amazing. The owners and staff very friendly and helpful. The views over the dam were splendid.
The 20 Kms of dirt road to get to the property. We overseas visitors are not used to such poor roads and probably you need a 4x4 for peace of mind.

The food was excellent. We loved the peace and quiet and lack of pressure. The scenery and views are suberb and we especially enjoyed the sailing trip on the dam.

The food was outstanding! The staff was friendly and very helpful.
We also had an awesome morning outride around the estate
Due to load shedding the breaker kept tripping and caused drying hair to be a bit of a challenge

The views are breathtaking and it was so peaceful and restful! exactly what I needed. The lodge itself is warm, welcoming and I love the fact that there’s only 4 rooms which ensure that service is up to standard. The staff is immensely helpful and went out of their way to ensure every reasonable request is fulfilled. Chef Maralize’s food was excellent everyday and she is extremely accommodating of dietary requests in advance. I was so grateful to have some good weather on Friday afternoon to go sailing on the dam with John before an incoming storm stayed for the weekend. I’ll definitely be visiting again!
The dirt road was difficult to navigate after an entire weekend of rain and I had to be towed up a slippery hill. if it’s raining and you have low profile tyres, you may want to reschedule your visit but the road was manageable on the way in when dry. A little bit of attention to detail on the cleaning of the rooms behind the bed and tv

the road is bad at the moment

The outlay of the place , the castle style design.
Nothing.

beautiful location , excellent staff and food quality. do take their advice seriously on the access road which requires care and more time (around 50 minutes off the tar roads ) than you might anticipate.
4.5
The setting is beautiful and the gardens are well cared for. With only four rooms the lodge provides you with an intimate feeling, but simultaneously gives you plenty of space to relax privately. The rooms are beautiful furbished each with its own private balcony overlooking the dam and/or the mountain. Each meal was exceptional and beautifully presented.
