About this house rental
Built in 1862, this character-filled home that was once a stable boy's accommodation is now a cosy and atmospheric 21st-century getaway. We love every irresistible inch, from the light-filled skylights and gorgeous sea views down to the glossy parquet floor. The sumptuous master bedroom is so stylish, it's hard to believe it's all upcycled from cladding and roof joists, and the master bathroom is even better. Relax with a soak in the lavish free-standing bathtub or rinse off under the rainfall shower. The living area is warm and incredibly comfortable. In the mornings, open the bi-fold doors and sip your coffee on the Juliet balcony, watching the ocean waves from the floor-to-ceiling windows. After a tasty breakfast rustled up in the blue kitchen, head up to the roof terrace to soak up the sunshine. Decked out with lush greeny and a barbecue, you'll want to spend every minute you're not at the beach sitting up here, enjoying alfresco meals and sipping cocktails as the sun sets over the water. Speaking of the sea, it's just a five-minute walk down to the beach or into town, where you can snack on fish and chips and grab a pint at one of the local pubs. Shopaholics can browse Saltburn-by-the-Sea's independent boutiques, keen hikers can walk along the Cleveland Way or for a more leisurely pace, just stroll along the Victorian pier, relishing in the salty sea air.
Home truths:
*The custom-made bunk bed in the second bedroom has two double mattresses, so four guests could fit in there at a push – that said, we think it's better suited to two adults or four smaller children
*At full capacity, the living area might feel a bit small, but luckily there's a lovely roof terrace as well
*A cot can be provided for little ones – just request when booking
*This home is located on Saltburn bank along the seafront and can be difficult to find – the hosts provide a Google Pin location prior to arrival, and advise that you indicate early before turning onto the drive
*The balcony is a Juliet balcony so there's nowhere to stand, but with the bi-fold doors open, it feels like a separate space
