About this house rental
Welcome to paradise! Primehaven, in Primehook Beach, DE is back to nature with all the comforts of home. Out the back door you have an open deck with beautiful views of Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge, great for bird watching and relaxing as the evening sun sets in the west. Out front you enjoy a beautiful sunrise and are just steps away from two entrances to a dog-friendly, not crowded beach on the Delaware Bay. Our house is pet friendly with a pet fee.
Primehaven is the perfect place to unwind, relax and enjoy time with family and friends. The house is a recently built (2012), open and airy, sanctuary that sleeps 6-7 people (plus possibly one on person on the pull out couch). The 1st floor of the house has an open living area which includes a large living room with cathedral ceiling, the deck, and a large kitchen, all with views of the wildlife refuge. This level also includes a queen bedroom suite with a full bath, a laundry room and powder room.
The second bedroom is actually a large second floor loft overlooking the first floor as well as the wildlife refuge. It has an open architecture as well, has a queen and two single beds and a trundle bed, and an office area (but who wants to work?), and of course, a full bath. Windows on the east side provide an overview of the bay and the community and to the west look over the beautiful refuge.
Family meals? The house has a well equipped kitchen and a dining area. We do not have a dish washer but do provide paper places if you don't want to wash the dishes! Beach toys? The house has many beach chairs to choose from, kites, boogie boards and large floats/boogie boards.
We hope you enjoy the time to unwind and escape the beach crowds to spend quiet time with family and friends. Please keep in mind that this is a private beach and is not a groomed beach.

My daughter had a lacrosse tournament in Frederica and we had a wonderful time here. Great experience. Thank you.

We love PH- and the simplicity of the place- in fact we are building there over the next 18-24 months- but wanted to enjoy the place - and this house is perfect for us and our two pups- stocked with everything, great views- for a smaller home- the space is used very well-easy walking and biking - only 6 miles to a wonderful town with everything you need- We love it- definitely will stay again in this lovely beach cottage!

Great home and location. My wife and I and our dogs had a great long holiday weekend. We would definitely stay again. Sunset views from out back cant be beat.

The home was great! It was so well equipped. Sitting on the deck watching the wildlife was relaxing. The sunsets were absolutely breathtaking. We will be back!!

We really enjoyed our stay at PrimeHaven. Everything at the house was clean and fresh even though we were there at the end of the season. It’s one of the best appointed houses we’ve ever stayed in. They really have thought of everything. The pictures posted provide an accurate depiction of the house, but I was bowled over by the expansive view from the deck. It’s the perfect place for morning coffee/tea, birdwatching, and enjoying the spectacular sunsets.

If you are looking to for peace and quiet, Primehaven is your ticket! Situated in a nature preserve, you just need to take your binoculars out on the back deck to birdwatch and enjoy nature. The sunsets are beautiful and the bay beach is just across the street to watch the sunrises.
The house was VERY clean and stocked with everything needed for a relaxing stay, but it is just a short drive to Milton, Lewes and all the more typical beachy places for ice cream, breakfast or a good meal.
We will be back!

We had a terrific stay— house is very comfortable and well stocked, location is beautiful, and it was a great place to come for a relaxing and fun family vacation.

Beautiful home just as promised. Awesome hosts who answered questions very quickly! The home was clean, with thoughtful provisions and well stocked kitchen. The outdoor view is spectacular especially if you like Great Blue Herons. The neighbors were so friendly. A beautiful retreat situated on the edge of nature at its best. A must stay! We loved it and will be back!

Nothing but good things to say about this beautiful, well-kept family home. Quality furnishings, including the outdoor furniture, and the cleanest outdoor shower I’ve ever used, made our visit very pleasant. The owner kindly provided paper goods and soap products to make it even easier. We had a great week of amazing views and floating in the bay; can’t wait to come back!

I can not say enough good about our stay. My only complaint was the mosquitoes & that was no ones fault. My family had a great time.

Beautiful house with top notch amenities. Awesome, quiet and friendly neighborhood. House has everything you need, and then some. Loved the 4th of July parade. Short walk to the beach access. Enjoyed our stay.

Excellent overall experience. Home was beautiful. Extremely clean and well maintained. Easy walking distance and access to the beach which was essentially a private beach. Nice assortment of beach supplies available. Kitchen supplies were well stocked. Beds were very comfortable. Only had one minor issue with a door lock sticking to which owner addressed immediately. Our family intends to return.

We had a wonderful stay at PrimeHaven. It is nicely situated with views of the refuge and close access to the beach and main road. The place is new and modern, with a great kitchen, lots of windows, very clean and modern.
We only had two nits. The first is that there are no sheets. While this is stated in the description, it is at the end and there was no reminder in the check-in instructions. Because no sheets is pretty rare these days, and so important, we believe that it should be more prominently listed in the ad. And, specifically stated in the check-in instructions.
The second is no dishwasher. This is also stated in the description. Not a huge deal, but seems a little strange with such a new kitchen. And, who wants to do dishes on a vacation!
These points would not prevent us from staying here again. We had a great trip, and the place was wonderful. We look forward to coming again.

We had a great time at this gorgeous prime hook home in a quiet and peaceful neighborhood. Beach was super close and we had stunning sunsets! The house had everything we needed to cook meals and we enjoyed several glasses of wine on the porch overlooking the nature preserve. We hope to stay here again next year!

My family & I had a wonderful time! The house was perfect for the 4 of us plus our dog. The house is well equipped. It has everything you need. Prime hook beach is a nice community. Everyone is friendly & dog loving. The beach is very close & we had beautiful sunsets every night. We also like watching the birds in the reserve from the deck.

The house was well equipped with everything needed and more. A short 2 minute walk to the beach with friendly neighbors. The owners and neighborhood were very dog friendly and ours had a great time playing in the water and digging for crabs. Took some time to get to restaurants and outlets but worth the drive for such a clean and well equipped house. Highly recommended for the price!

House is located on a private street. Very quiet neighborhood. House was well equipped with everything you could need for your stay, all we needed was to buy some groceries for a few dinners and lunches. Pet friendly was a huge bonus as well. Had a fairly steady breeze on the back deck which made sitting there comfortable any time of the day even with warmer weather. My wife and kids loved the outdoor shower. The beach is a short 2 minute walk away if that. Jellyfish were pretty bad 1st half of the week couldn't really go in the ocean but got better eventually. Apparently August is prime Jellyfish month. Wish there was a pool to cool off in being the Jellyfish were bad but it seems nobody in the neighborhood had one either. Beach was practically empty and had it all to ourselves for the most part. You can only setup your blanket and chairs in the area where the access path is. The area in front of the houses on the beach is considered their property but you can put your chair in the water pretty much anywhere. Rehoboth is a short drive away where most restaurants and activities are. Overall if you're looking for a quiet semi private getaway with a modern well equipped house this is the perfect place. We've never spent this much on a rental before, usually half the cost typically. Personally for the price I'd expect an ocean front location but the rental cost seems to be what things go for down here so can't fault the owners for getting what they get. Would prefer a Saturday to Saturday stay but only offer Sunday to Sunday during summer. Having to get situated back home and ready for work the next day after being away for a week is tough with so much to do getting home on a Sunday. Overall Had a great week. Was nice to get away with family and relax for a week and eat at some great restaurants. Would consider coming back in the future sometime.

We had a great time. The house backed to the nature preserve and across the street was the bay. We have been to Prime Hook many times and this was one of our favorite homes. The home had everything we needed and more!

The property is located a a block from the beach/bay area. The house is lovely and so many essentials in the house. A little distance to stores and restaurants. There is no dishwasher so if you plan on cooking/grilling, have paper plates or be prepared to wash dishes, pots and pans. The location of the home has beautiful views. You need to have bug spray on the deck and the beach. The fly’s can get nasty at times. Also, be careful of jellyfish if you go out deeper in the water. The owner is very attentive and responds quickly to messages, they also stay in the neighborhood. We did day trips and enjoyed our children and grandchildren visiting us while we were here.

Couldn't ask for a better house
This house is beautiful, clean, and has everything you could want or need (except perhaps a dishwasher). The view from the back deck is wonderful, and proximity to the beach is very convenient. Our 3 kids enjoyed having the loft space as their hangout. Communication with the host was flawless.

Much needed get away..
We enjoyed our summer week at Prime Hook..The home was just end space for the four of us.. A short ride to Lewes about 15 minutes down Rt 1 .. From the house we were only steps away from the beach most of the time we had it all to ourselves. The view of the of Prime Hook Refuge was so enjoying watching the birds and the sunsets each evening were beautiful..Betsy and her husband our host were a delight and so gracious to us.. We can not wait to go back.. Counting the days to make Delaware our home..

Wonderful week getaway!
Our small family of 3 (plus 2 doggies) really enjoyed our stay at this amazing house! We kicked off the week with a fun 4th of July celebration with the neighborhood and continued our lovely week with beach trips and local sightseeing. The house is filled with everything you need and the hosts are super friendly and gracious. Can’t say enough great things about the property!

Beautiful property and location
The house and location are really nice and perfect for a low-key restful, stress-free vacation. We brought along our very active, young dog who loved the beach and walking the neighborhood. Betsy and her family were responsive and could not have been nicer and easier to deal with.

Relaxing getaway with a beautiful view
We absolutely LOVED the view from this house - we didn't want to leave! It was definitely windy/a little buggy while we were there, so sometimes it was tough to sit outside on the deck but we know that's part of being near a wildlife preserve. It was about a 20-25 minute drive to get to restaurants in Lewes (we loved Heirloom!) but we were perfectly happy staying in most days. Betsy was a great communicator, answering all our questions and making check in a breeze. We hope to return soon!

Perfect!
My little family of 3 visited this Delaware area for the first time for a larger family weekend in Lewes over Memorial Day weekend. Not only was the weather and celebration perfect, but so was this house! From the convenient location, decor, and amenities to the easy convenient communication with the owner when i had a question. We really enjoyed our stay and all slept great too! Back deck view and bird watching was such a treat! I highly recommend to others :)

Wonderful property!
We had such a wonderful stay at Prime Haven! A lovely, well-stocked, and clean house with a beautiful view of the marsh. So relaxing to sit on the back deck and watch the sunset and listen to the birds. We will be back for sure!

Perfect getaway from it all
Betsy was a great host. House was exactly as pictured and contained everything you could possibly need. The proximity to the beach was perfect for us and our 4 legged children. The weather was great too! It was close enough to Rehoboth, Milton was a cute area too! Would definitely come back again!!

Beach & Birding Paradise
This house is exactly what you want for a vacation beach house. It can't be much more than a decade old. It is a comfortable, well-built house with spactular views of the globally renowned Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge. If you're into bird watching, you probably already know about this refuge. If you're not into birding, you will be after staying in this place. The house's deck directly abuts miles and miles of open, fresh- and salt-water marshes. You'll spend hours and hours on the deck (regardless of weather conditions!) just taking it all in. We usually rent beach-front vacation rentals, and we are so glad we switched to the "marsh side" of the island. Sandy beach access is easy and super-close (i.e. 1 to 2 minute slow walk just across the road). Primehook Beach is different from the beaches you're used to from the Carolinas and Florida. Don't let that dissuade you from this house; the beach is perfect for daily walks and other normal beach activities. You'll become an expert in horseshoe crabs and the fish called menhaden. Also, it is an easy, thirty-minute drive to the more traditional and hopping beaches of Rehoboth. The location of this house gives you easy access to fun day-trips (like Rehoboth Beach, Delaware Seashore State Park, Trap Pond State Park, JP's at Bowers Beach, Dover Air Force Museam, etc) with the ability to come home to the tranquil and friendly neighborhood of Primehook beach. The house's kitchen is very well equipped (especially for a beach rental), so it is very easy to bring some groceries and take the time to make some home-cooked meals as you enjoy your retreat. The hosts are super friendly and very responsive. I don't think I'd change anything about this property.

Five star house with beautiful views!
This property is FIVE gold stars. The loft bedroom has windows on every side, allowing for beautiful views of the wildlife refuge on one side and the ocean on the other side. The house has a fully equipped kitchen, a beautiful dining table with amazing sunset views, and a lovely living area with comfy seating. We travelled with our little non-shedding doggy who enjoyed the walks on the beach and sitting on the outdoor patio. The home is impeccable, decorated with taste, complete with gorgeous pottery, candles and placemats to match. Walking distance to the beach made this the perfect house for us. We highly recommend this property. The owners were very helpful, super communicative, and took the effort to ensure we found the welcome binder upon our arrival.

Wonderful Experience
We really ejoyed our stay at this property in the middle of a Nature Preserve. Lots of great hikes nearby and a lovely beach right across the street. The deck overlooks the marshes and was great for bird watching. The house was very modern, clean, and well designed. We felt welcomed and right at home and communication with the owner was perfect. Easily one of our best vacation rental experiences.

Incredible location and lovely house
We loved our stay at this beautiful place. We watched the sunset over the marsh from the deck (with bunnies hopping across the back yard) and could see the sunrise from the other side of the house over the Bay. We were looking for peace and quiet and found it. The house is lovely and well equipped with everything we needed in the kitchen (just bring your own sheets and towels). The upstairs bedroom has spectacular views and is loft-style; the downstairs bedroom has a door, giving it more privacy. The host was very responsive and helpful and the check-in seamless.
