This home was a lovely place to stay in the historic district of San Antonio. It was beautiful and convenient to so many fun activities. The home was clean and and charming in every way. It was perfect for our large family.

Awesome location, just minutes away from downtown. Plenty of room for family to relax, after a full day being out walking downtown San Antonio. Quiet neighborhood

My husband and I stood in the casita. My biggest problem was the first night we did not have air conditioner. But was extremely grateful that it was repaired quickly

We stayed here for the Christmas holiday. The house had nice, open space for ten of us to spread out. Although it's a historic house, the rooms and bathrooms are updated. A few things kept this from being 5 stars. Firstly, what the previous reviews said about the mattresses are true. The soft foam toppers or mattresses themselves need to be replaced. Worst of all is the master bedroom which leaves a permanent dent in the topper and back pain for the sleepers. Secondly, for the house to sleep so many it's lacking supplies. We barely had enough towels and they were a bit dingy. There were some basic kitchen supplies, but not everything you need if you plan to cook meals for a number of people. Lastly, there is an issue with the hose to the garbage disposal that affects the right side of the sink. I suspect it was "fixed" before, but only jerry rigged because the quick fix failed during our stay which caused a leak under the kitchen sink. We couldn't use the right side of the sink nor the dishwasher which was an inconvenience. The neighborhood is fairly quiet and close to the San Jose Mission and downtown. Overall we enjoyed our stay, but there are some details that can be improved to make this a 5 star rental.

The layout of the house was great for our family. It was about a 20 min walk to the riverwalk, and great restaurants near by. The backyard had great seating area and was welcoming.

Lots of space, including a detached flat

The house it's self is nice and big enouh to accommodateour big party. The cleaning was minimal, the beds were so uncomfortable to sleep in. There was no sope or barley sope in the kitchen and top bathrooms. One of use put the hand behind the couch to rest it and found a dirty old dusty hat which showed how unclean the house really was. While leaving we stripped the sheets as asked and realized there was blood and dirty sheets so that was gross knowing we were sleeping on dirty shots for the past 4 nights. Location driving wise was grear. Wouldn't be able to walk to downtown since there are no street lights. Overall wouldn't come back to this house.

House was decorated impeccable and everyone loved the comfort of the beds. Large gathering space in the family/kitchen area. Casita was quaint.

It was a great place for a group from our cheer team to stay together! Clean, close to everything and comfy beds!

The property was great for our large family. Clean and laid out well. Our only negative was the lack of amenities: no tissues, no dish towels, no ice. The toilet paper and the paper towels were cheap and coarse. Otherwise, fabulous find!

Great house, fantastic location, horrible beds.
The house itself was perfect for our family and the location was great with easy access to everything we wanted including running trails, the river walk, and easy access to highways.
The beds were all extremely soft memory foam and no one in the family got a good nights sleep the entire week. The master bed was the worst and had a permanent indent that cased you to slide down one side all night. If the mattresses were replaced this would be a 5 not a 3.

The house us really comfortable but it was dirty and the sheets on the beds were not clean. The patio was dirty and unorganized. Some one came and arranged it while we were there. The balcony furniture was so dirty and dusty we could not enjoy it. The taking showers, the drainage smell so strong like sewerage. We were really dissatisfied. I was not allowed to do a cancelation even when airlines cancelled most of my families flights. I still had to go to the hiuse and I was still charged for all of them. Bad business!

Location was good for downtown/River Walk and the Missions. Master bath being worked on and was to be finished on our second day, but was not. Some dogs in the neighborhood that barked at night. Second night noticed sound of frequent trains in early morning. Kitchen was well supplied. Everyone stated beds were comfortable. Nice outside spaces (although back space was covered by leaves due to the time of year). Only a half bath downstairs, so if you have an elderly member they will have to go upstairs for bath/shower. Casita had several up steps/down steps into various areas which you need to be aware of. Some light switches are in odd places, meaning you sometimes have to walk into the room to another wall to get to a light switch for that room. Remodel was very nice, but just some of those simple things that could have been better thought out. We probably would not stay here again as a group.

Close to everything yet in a quiet, safe neighborhood. Lots of space, loved the separate house space. Some lights were not working but that would be only complaint. Loved this home!!

While in some ways the home is charming and it was clean, in other ways it was a very disappointing stay, for the amount charged. The bottom line was the air conditioning was not working properly and so the home was very warm and humid, given this was San Antonio, Texas. The ceiling fan and light in the master bedroom also did not operate, which made the bedroom very warm, dark and with no circulation, and a number of windows did not open (safety isssue??) Upon arrival we also had a plugged toilet (not from our doing), which I eventually cleared. Upon contacting the management company, someone was to come out on Friday - they never showed, and I was even told the AC person was finishing up a job and would call me. We were in town as a family for a wedding, so needless to say, this was not what we were expecting. This rental was ultimately handled by Vacasa - I would avoid them totally. Their customer service is terrible, and NO resolution with regard to my request for a refund of the partial cost. AVOID THIS HOUSE.

Wonderful house very clean and good spaces for visiting! Casita was comfortable and clean

The property was nice and clean for older construction and in a good
Location. Everyone complained about the mattress toppers being too soft and uncomfortable. There were no kitchen towels or bath rugs and there was not enough towels for a property that is supposed to accommodate 16 people. We had 7 adults and four Kids for four days. There was also not enough silverware and plates for large groups.

The Cedar House
The Cedar House was spacious and clean with a private area in the back for outside seating. Excellent kitchen with good appliances. Friendly neighborhood. Train whistles at night. Skimpy on supplies e.g. toilet paper. All in all, we had an enjoyable week staying here in lively San Antonio.

Great family home
We loved staying here, the location was great for the activities that we had while there. Very clean and well maintained. The ping pong table was a great way for kids to burn off some energy.

We very much enjoyed our stay at The Cedar House. The location was perfect as it was close to the Riverwalk and many of the "touristy" type areas. The neighborhood was nice and other than the trains that you can hear at night, it was very quiet. The open living space was wonderful for our family to all be together and we appreciated there was a seating option for everyone. Check-in was very easy and the local manager introduced themselves at arrival time via text. We had one small issue during our stay and they responded very quickly.
What is keeping me from giving a five-star review are very simple things. First, be warned that all beds consist of very soft memory foam mattresses topped with memory foam toppers. Everyone in our group commented on how it was hard to move in the beds once you "sink in" at night. Second, access to basic cleaning supplies and a vacuum would be nice so that we can tidy after ourselves. Lastly, we are a family that likes to cook, and while the kitchen is well equipped with bonus items like a slow cooker, the basic items such as the knives were very cheap and hard to use properly.

Great property!
The house was really awesomely decorated! Lots of space inside and outside and super close to the River Walk! Everything was really clean as well and property manager was always readily available to ask anything. The only two downsides were that the downstairs was much colder than upstairs and only one thermostat to control the temp and at night the trains passing were very loud.

Frustrating
While it is clean and the common areas are spacious, calling it 'well equipped,' as a previous review did, is a bit of a reach. We've always enjoyed our VRBO stays, but this one was as close to bare bones as it gets. There was barely enough toilet paper to get through the first day; one dish towel in the big kitchen, none in the casita (and no paper towels there, either); more plug-in appliances than three families could use but few pots and pans in the main kitchen and none in the casita...makes it difficult to feed 7 adults. There is no smoke detector in the casita...is that even legal? No bath mats in any of the bathrooms with showers/tubs, and the shower in the master suite was very slippery. The casita bathroom slants and there was standing water behind the toilet when we arrived. There was one set of door keys for three families and two cars going in different directions. We had an extra set made and left it behind with the originals. The biggest thing was that there was no book that is prominent in most VRBO properties with instructions, places to see, restaurants in the area, stuff like that. None of us had Roku at home, and there was nothing anywhere to tell us how it worked. We never did figure out how to find the local network stations. I would have traded all their fancy-but-useless knick knacks for a page on the tv. So it was a frustrating few days. We enjoyed San Antonio...and this place is close to everything...but I'll never rent from this outfit again. I never felt particularly welcome and any communication we got from the rental company was just a boilerplate email.

Great house!
The house was remodeled and nicely decorated. There was plenty of room for our large group to spread out. The backyard had different sitting areas and was enclosed so the young kids in our group could safely play. Extra plus- it is walking distance to the Riverwalk. We will definitely stay here again.
