Quirky and interesting property in an excellent location. I enjoyed the details and care that went into building and decorating this house. Someone spent a lot of time and love on this place. I enjoyed our stay.
Whoever that someone was, they obviously haven't been involved with the property for a decade of two. The current operator is clearly trying to monetize it with the absolute minimum of investment. Kitchen seems to have been kitted out with garage sale rejects. Some light fixtures don't work, others have a random mix of bulbs with different color temps. Some smoke alarms were missing. Towels and linens may have been bought at a garage sale as well!
Since they are charging at the higher end for a rental place, they need a little more investment in the details.

Overall, we had a great stay at the Riverheart retreat. It had a great location right on the river with a great adobe style villa. Lots of room to spread out and enjoy the property. Check in was easy and property management was friendly. Our only trouble was that upon arrival the home still needed cleaning (floors/rugs not vacuumed and dishes needed additional washing), which was disappointing given the cleaning fee.
We still had a great time and would consider returning if the cleaning issue is resolved. Definitely a great place to unwind, listen to the river and take in the stars from the hot tub.

Overall, it was a great stay! Because of the fence and the trees, we kept forgetting we were just off the road. The trees and the river behind the river is a difficult view to beat! Even when it was brisk, we spent a lot of time outside. The house was exactly how it looks online. That front area is very unique and it felt very cozy and comfortable. One morning we saw three deer grazing on the grass in the front. What a view!
There are some aspects with it being an old house that I feel like could be improved. Its difficult to have central heating, so we understood, but we only found two electrical heaters (and one of them screamed when it was on). We were told of different rooms they were in, but it sounds like most of them were in the external cabin we did not get. The other piece of it was the kitchen. We loved the stain glass cabinet doors, but we were REALLY nervous opening and closing the cabinets because the stain glass shook. They seemed like they were one close away from falling off and shattering. Theres also not a whole lot of storage space in the kitchen, which is an issue because the kitchen utensils provided are very bare bones. We brought some in anticipation, but we didnt really have anywhere to put it.
Other than those thints, the place was amazing! It had PLENTY of room for everyone to sit. The hot tub helped take off the slight brisk temperature of the home. The backporch area was my personal favorite when the wind made it too cold. Thank you!!

Very interesting and beautiful area with wonderful views of the river and mountains.

Temp in house was 47 degrees on arrival. Owner was unable to get sufficient heat in common areas and admitted one bedroom was un-heatable/unusable due to cold. We left the property 30 mins after arrival. Management company and owner will not cooperate in providing full refund. Renter beware!

We stayed here with several couples for a wedding up at the Surf Hotel and it was a perfect spot for our group. Only a mile away from the venue which was great. Between the rooms in the house and the Casitas there was plenty of sleeping options, and the home had plenty of space to hang out, cook meals, and enjoy our time together.
Also great access to nearby hiking trails, public fishing spots, and downtown BV that we all took advantage of.
Spending time down on the river was a plus as well.
This place is eclectic and very fun to be at. Would recommend!

Renting was easy. We left a written list of suggestions for the owner to help elevate this place to a greater level!

Our family stayed here for a short weekend. It was absolutely wonderful. We loved the eclectic feel. There were so many Knick-knacks to look at and art on the walls. We had fun just finding new things! The WiFi didn’t reach out to the smaller cabins so we all ended up staying in the main house. The kitchen was adorable and they had everything we needed to make a large family dinner. There was a fire pit around back that we used, and you can’t beat being right on the river. My husband fished and me and the teen kids walked up the river in water shoes and floated back down. We had a wonderful time and would totally stay here again.

"Riverheart Retreat" perfect description
Truly one of the most interesting and perfectly located homes we've ever visited. The kitchen was a perfect size for a crowd and plenty of unique little areas for just "hanging out." In need of a little TLC but after spending many hours listening and enjoying the river, it truly is a "riverheart retreat."

Unique property, great location!
The grounds outside were beautiful and the home itself is very unique. The hot tub was very nice and clean and the living area space is comfortable and cozy. The owner reached out right away to check-in which was great. The location was great however, getting down to the river is somewhat steep and can be tricky if it rains or is dark. The bathroom situation was challenging, there is only 1 full bathroom in the main level so everyone in our group primarily used that one which was fine but the 2nd one is upstairs in the loft area and it’s very small. There are also single stairs/steps everywhere so that was not ideal for my 15m nephew. None of the sheets/towels really match which wasn’t a big deal but if that is something you like just be prepared. Overall it was a fine property to be at while enjoying BV!

The description says there are 2.5 bathrooms. I don't think that is accurate. There are 2 toilets and 2 showers in the main house. The bathrooms are dated and doable but thought they could be upgraded a bit. A .5 bathroom to me would mean there was another toilet in the house. There is not, Lots of sinks but only 2 toilets. There are two Portable Toilets, literally. Not sure why they don't build another bathroom outside where other 2 cabins are. Also, the listing says 6 bedrooms and some places 7 bedrooms. There are really 3 bedrooms in the house (there is a nook with a pullout couch - would not call that a bedroom). There are 3 cabins outside. 2 of them seem like ones we can use. We were told that the other outdoor room (looks like the old-garage) could not be used. It was very cluttered anyway and did not look like a place that would work to sleep in. Lot's of couches but all old and uncomfortable. So I would say there are only 5 room. But who knows?
The beds and linens are old and OK. Would be great for them to upgrade these. The outside has a ton of potential. However, the outdoor furniture seems to be all over the place.
The location off the river is awesome! Great shade and places to congregate with the family.
The management organization does a good job of sending details you need.
I just thought for the price the place would be a little sharper (linens, outdoor furniture and layout).

Amazingly eclectic gem on the river! The history and character of this special space were so unique and truly a space for retreat and respite. Our group was able to hike, run, bike, and hot spring right from front door!

We won't forget this place! We had a fantastic time - drop dead mountain view in one direction, direct access to the Arkansas River in the other, and more unique decor than you can shake a stick at. It was a great place for a long weekend. We saw tons of shooting stars from the hot tub, too, what a treat.

This house is so unique and interesting! It’s location on the river will have you searching for vacation properties of your own. Cabins are a great spot for kids, but less ideal for adults wanting bathroom access and a larger bed. Main house has three bedrooms and one room with a pullout sofa. This will be our go to place on our next trip to Buena Vista. Excited to return!

Wonderfully quirky!
We rented this with 2 other families to use as a base for skiing at Monarch. It was so wonderfully quirky in decor. The location was really nice - right on the water. The kids loved having their own cabins to sleep in.
There were plenty of linens, towels, coffee, etc. The only downside was the hot tub wouldn't heat enough for us to use it and the dishwasher didn't seem to be working.
