We love checking out the wine trail and the many great hiking trails in the area. This property is perfectly located for such.

Loved our stay at the Loft! Was so easy to travel the wine trail. The Loft itself was perfect for us. We were looking for a weekend of R & R, this was the perfect spot! Hot tub was a perfect spot to relax before hitting the wine trail and then a perfect spot to relax after a busy day to relax with a nice bottle from the wine trail.
We will definitely be back!

This lovely little place was perfect for my two college-aged children and me to decompress, hike, soak, eat and laugh. Great experience!

What a cute little place! We very much enjoyed the hot tub and fire pit. We found out that in March, the whole town is closed down Monday-Wednesday, which of course was our stay time, HA! We would really have loved to try the bar across the street and several wineries that were also closed, however it was also nice to have no one around. I mean, NO ONE! Bald knob cross, the Cliff state park, the natural bridge trail...never saw one person. Still enjoyed great service at several wineries and was able to return and relax on the most comfortable Vrbo couch I've ever sat on. The kitchen is small, which I learned from other reviews so we decided not to cook as much and brought paper plates. Steve sent a funny quip about a pizza cutter when we checked in and there were 2...but not hot pads. hahaha It's always something. We loved this stay and have it on the list to return!

This place has two nice-sized bedrooms, comfy leather furniture in the living space, and ample space throughout. The hot tub was the perfect temperature and just a few steps out the sliding door on the secluded deck. The water pressure is good in the shower. The four of us had plenty of fluffy towels for the hot tub and the shower. The floors are a little creaky but expected in an old building. The location is great - just down the street from the bourbon bar (serves more than bourbon), and right on the wine trail. There is also a fairly flat trail nearby that is an easy walk. My husband and two teens had a good time and plan to stay here again.

So cute, and perfect location! We enjoyed the wine trail during the day and walked to Bourbon Bar across the street in evening. Quiet and relaxing stay with everything we could possibly need. We will be back!

Property was super cute, but the beds were terrible and the pillows were either flat or super lumpy. I woke up sore every day and the hot tub became necessary not a luxury. Also, strangely un stocked - no skillets, no mixing cups or spoons, and no dishwasher. So we spent the entire morning doing dishes with one hand (i was injured) so we wouldnt get a charge.

Easy check in and perfect location for wineries.

This property was more impressive than we imagined. It was so quaint and romantic. We absolutely loved it, and it had everything we needed! We will definitely be coming back!

It’s a cute place that sits in a convenient spot for the wine trail. We stayed here before and would again.

Nice property. We stayed in the back section with the hot tub which was nice. The Burbon Bar across the street was the high point. The trails and meals at Giant City State Park where also high pointa.

We enjoyed staying at the loft. Everything was as expected and more. Snacks, coffee and the hot tub was nice and so relaxing. Steve responded to all questions quickly.

Cute and comfortable little two bedroom place was great for our small group.
The furnishings were simple, yet tasteful and very comfortable. Location was quiet, with easy access to everything the area offers.
A couple drawbacks that the owner should address, but overall we enjoyed our 2 night stay.
Things we liked: beds were comfortable, couch and chairs were comfortable; assorted board games and reading material; snack basket was provided with nice selection of snacks.
Items they should address: Hot Tub needs to be properly maintained or removed (breaker was off when we got there, so tub was cool and water had not been getting circulated leaving a scum ring around the waterline; we started it up to verify functionality but we were not about to tempt fate by climbing into it); remotes for tv were either worn out or batteries were shot but they made tv viewing a bit of a challenge; entryway was overgrown with too many weeds; cobwebs hanging from can light in kitchen; ice maker did not work in freezer; and the shower was too tight, suggest curved curtain rod like many hotels have to make room for an average sized adult to turn around.

We went to Giant City National Park for hiking with the family. Steve was a great host, the loft was what we expected however when we got to Alto Pass we realized that there was only one bar across the street (the only one in town which we didn’t go because we went with kids), a very small grocery store that barely had anything, the closest fresh farm was 10 minutes away that only had peaches and ice cream shop (no veggies, etc) and no restaurant options close by and tap water wasn’t drinkable so had to buy it.
I’m giving Steve and the property 5 star but wish we knew these things ahead of time to plan accordingly since I have food restrictions and ended up sick the whole time there. We assumed we would find a decent grocery store in town which we didn’t. Also, had to buy drinking water that the grocery store had only 1-2 gallons available every day but not enough for a family of 4 that had to carry some of it for hiking.

What a great property! The listing was very accurate, and communication with Steven the owner was quick and easy. The bed was comfortable and we also made use of the hot tub a few times during our stay. The general store and Havisham Bourbon Bar were a very short walk from our unit. We also visited a couple of wineries in the area too. We really enjoyed our weekend getaway!

Glue mouse trap was left behind a chair in the livingroom area, a few mouse droppings were near it but we didn't see any mice.
Hot tub seemed to be filled too low to actually use it, but it was dirty enough that we also didn't want to try.
No batteries in TV remote so couldn't use it's smart functionality, cable remote worked fine though.
Gas grill outside wasn't working (but gas fire pit did).
Not a bad experience overall, but we paid more than other VRBO options in the area because of amenities like the hot tub. If we knew the hot tub wasn't prepped yet for the season we probably would have chosen a more affordable option.

This was the cutest little loft apartment for our girls trip! Had a great time and loved the firepit and hottub!! Great location and close to 3 wineries! The host Steven was very helpful with any questions or problems we had, would definitely stay again!

This is our second time here. The property is in the perfect wine trail location. It is super clean and has everything you need. Walk out the door right to a beautiful trail. The owner is super responsive and check in was a breeze! We love this place.

The online pictures of the property do not match the actual property, the building is needs a ton of work or the demolition ball is in order. This is not meant to be a bash of the property rather this posting is the reality, it was not what we expected by the pictures posted. We were greeted by dead landscaping outside the door that could have used a shovel and rake. The deck area had carpeting that was dirty and had green mold along with a grill that was gross (we cleaned it to be useable). The hot tub was dirty and had not seen a scrub brush in a while. - we did not use it. The screen doors were broken and had no useable screens, one was missing and the other was rusted in place. Inside the floors squeeked most all over, the drinking water had a terrible taste that tasted like copper and something else we have never tasted before. The bathroom faucet was loose and the shower handle could hardly be turned on to get water , it was difficult to adjust the water. The AC units in the bedrooms were loud and put in place with press board and could hear the neighbors next door as well as the front unit. The location is OK, we tried to walk around however the area is not conducive to safety with no sidewalks and its a blighted area. The location is very close to winery's and a trail that is over grown, walking to the winery's is not advised.

We had such an excellent last minute stay, celebrating my mother-in-law's birthday weekend! The place was immaculate, the hot tub was perfect for a cool-er night, and we even got to use the gas firepit! Everything was so accommodating!! And talk about having everything you ever need in that kitchen to use! Thank you for a great stay!

Great location near the wineries. Had everything we needed for a good time.
Got unpacked and went to a couple close wineries. Then relaxed in the hot tub. Next day was hiking, wineries and hot tub. Very nice time. Snacks on the table were a nice addition.

Great weekend getaway
My husband and I came to the area to do a little hiking and the Shawnee wine trail. It was perfect for that. Enjoyed the back patio every night. The fire pit, lights and hot tub were enjoyable. We had an issue with the hot tub and Steve was nice and came to fix it right away.
It was a pretty clean rental, but could use a deep clean. Dust bunnies and cobwebs behind the bed and food crumbs when the living room chairs were pulled out. Although, we would stay again if in the area.

Love the hot tub
We rented this for a girls weekend. Only 3 of us so plenty of space. The central AC wasn’t working but the rooms had window units . The main draw is the patio with the fire pit, grill and hot tub. Lovely and peaceful. The wineries you mainly drive to. Alto winery is walkable but a good 15 min walk so we drove . Location is central to all wineries. No place to eat in Alto pass so stop to get groceries elsewhere. Kitchen has all you need to cook.

Awesome
We were just looking to get away for a few days with a hot tub. Very nice, clean space with everything you need, just like home. The host is great and was available for any questions I had(and I'm not the best traveler). Check out Cobden and grab some tacos at the food truck. Thanks for a great stay!

Great location and timing
This is a great location for the southern Illinois wine trail. On top of that, by luck we chose the one weekend a year of a local bike fest, which was really cool to enjoy and be a part of. Although there were a few minor issues that arose, Steve jumped in and handled them immediately. Great time and great place.

Great Experience
We wanted to find a place to stay on short notice for Mother's Day weekend. We were lucky to get the loft fir this weekend. Great location on the wine trail, clean, and the hot tub was perfect at the end of the night. Will definitely come back.

Nice place to get away.
The place is located in town but the fenced in deck makes it very private. The inside was roomy and bright. The beds were comfortable. We plan to return again. Owner was very responsive with the questions we had.

The neighborhood is very nice, it is a nice place to distress. The price is affordable, but we did encounter ants in the bathroom

Really cute
We enjoyed this little place. The hit tub was awesome! The coffee maker took over an hour to brew a pot of coffee but there were no other issues! It was stocked with great towels and linens and everything we needed! I would stay here again.

Thanksgiving in Alto Pass
We enjoyed our stay here this past weekend. Everything was clean and looked like the pictures. It’s such a cute remodel of one of the downtown store fronts. It’s also in a convenient location for wineries so we definitely recommend.

A friendly and fascinating place
We had a great stay at alto pass loft and we recommend the property highly. The area has more to offer than we expected and we are glad we stayed. We felt as though everyone we met around there was friendly and kind.

Time warp weekend
Such an adorable little getaway location. We loved the historical charm but with modern amenities. Not much to do right around the rental, but lots of outings within 10-20 minutes. It was a nice jumping off point for exploring the area. The comfy sitting area and hot tub were great for a rainy afternoon in. A restful night sleep was the only thing missing, beds are spring type and while comfy once settled, they are super squeaky just with normal turning. A little more space for hanging clothes would be great also.
