About this house rental
Welcome to beautiful Monroe Bay! Relax in the beautifully refurbished home, on the back deck, by the private pool, or by the water on the private dock. Bring your kayaks, boat or jet skis to explore the creek and local water way.
Located in a private community 2 minutes from down town Colonial Beach and just 2 hours from Washington, D.C.; 1 hour from Richmond, VA, and about 30 minutes from Fredericksburg, VA. The quaint Town of Colonial Beach has restaurants, grocery stores, breweries, a dog park, and public beaches.
Just minutes away is access to wineries (Monroe Bay, Ingleside, Back Porch, General's Ridge), State Parks (Westmoreland and Caledon), and historical sites (Birth places of James Monroe and George Washington, as well as Stratford Hall which is home of the Lee Family).
The house is equipped with High Speed Internet and two Smart TVs for your streaming needs.
Golf Carts (not included in rental): Colonial Beach is a Golf Cart community. There are rentals available and there is access to the town from the property, should you want an alternate way to explore the town.
Water Access: There is a small ramp for launching kayaks, jet skies, or small craft (e.g., john boats) on the property. For run-abouts and larger craft, there is a public ramp in the town of Colonial Beach (5 minute drive). The public ramp is free, but there is a fee to park. There is ample trailer parking at the property. Monroe Bay Creek is mostly brackish water, but once one transitions to the Potomac River, the water is salt and requires a Potomac River or VA salt water fishing license.
The Dock: There are 2 slips for docking watercraft. The creek is tidal and the water depth varies; average water depth is about 4 feet. Bring your own dock lines, bumpers, etc. You are welcome to crab and fish from the dock, so pack your gear. Please clean up any bait so not to attract gulls. Typical fish species caught include Perch and Catfish; occasionally Spot and puppy drum (late summer/fall).
The Pool: There is a private pool, gazebo and sun deck on the property. Four (4) pool towels are provided for your use.
Horses: There are horses adjacent to the property. They are not part of the rental, so please do not touch or feed. However, they are very peaceful to watch from the front of the house.

Property was so very inviting and serene! Perfect for a much needed escape from Northern VA. House and property were beautiful and set up to make everything so easy. All we had to do was relax and enjoy! We had lots of fun fishing, crabbing and swimming all right there!

Our vacation this year was positively wonderful!!!! This stunning home and beautiful setting was one of the primary reasons! The home and property were pristine and beautiful! The location of the property is perfect; it is within minutes of stores but once you are at the property you would never know it. Make the turn off of the main road and you are in the 'country' away from any hustle and bustle. The property was lush and green, perfectly manicured and landscaped; the neighboring homes and property's are just as beautiful. Adding to the ambience was a neighboring horse pasture; the area was so serene, beautiful and peaceful! The pool area, gazebo and patio, were exceptional, too! We grilled and ate out by the pool every day.
The community of Colonial Beach is quaint and beautiful.

Can I just start with WOW!! Upon arrival, pulling up in the driveway we were greeted by beautiful oyster shells decorated throughout the yard. I've never seen anything like it. Then going into the house, Shannon left me a personalized note with some wonderful chocolate. The house was immaculate and very clean. We all felt like we were at home because it was so cozy and had a home-like atmosphere. Overall it was one if the best vacation homes we've ever seen. Thank you Shannon for making my family feel like your's. I will definitely stay again. the

We loved everything about our stay at Monroe Creek. The house was extremely clean upon arrival and left nothing to be desired as far as amenities. The pool, air hockey table, and basketball hoop kept the kids busy and everyone enjoyed fishing from the dock. Colonial Beach offered great options for meals and treats, and groceries and bait were very close by as well. We would definitely recommended this rental to families and anyone else looking for a relaxing break.

This is a great property to enjoy for the peace and quiet, the great view, birdwatching, and pool time. The house is well stocked with anything you might need and Shannon, the host makes sure that you have an enjoyable stay!!

Some friends and I booked this house for one of our friend’s birthday. The house and host are equally amazing! Shannon was extremely accommodating and very quick to respond to inquiries. The house looks just like the photos. Newly renovated, very clean and nicely stocked. The area has a small town feel with enough stores and restaurants nearby to get anything you may need. We enjoyed the views of the bay while we ate on the deck and relaxed poolside the rest of the day. I cannot say enough great things about our stay. It was a perfect weekend with friends for the birthday girl and the rest of the group. Definitely a 10/10!

Upon arrival we were all amazed at the beauty! And walking inside this place is so comfy and has everything anyone could need. We got our things in and headed to the beautiful and clean pool. This place is immaculate and perfectly placed to things to do, we loved the space and how we needed for nothing in this place! The host has to be one of the best I’ve experienced and very accommodating. The whole family enjoyed the stay. We checked out dockside restaurant on our last night and that was a blast! From the moment you drive up, you are in love with the property...you see the horses across the street and water view even from the front of the house!
When you open the front door, you know you have started your vacation! Beautifully decorated open floor plan gorgeous home! You would think you are steping into a model home! Super cleaned! Perfectly decorated.
The kitchen is big, the island is huge, the table is beatiful and you have a great view of the water. Both sitting area and living room are perfect. The master bedroom is beyond perfect! View of the water from your bed, bathroom is spacious. The 2nd master is comftable, the kids room is great.
This house has EVERYTHING YOU COULD NEED!
The game room downstairs is phenomenal! Kids didn't want to leave lol
Then you have the nice pool area, confy outside furniture, all with water view. You can also bbq in the nice size gas gril.
The water was beautiful! We were lucky to have brought our kayaks! We had a blast. Kids also enjoyed playing basketball!
I can not recomend this home enough! Loved it! Hope i can get to return.
Oh...did i mentioned you are literally 5minutes from foodlion and McDonalds! Lol. You can't ask for a better location! Tons to do and near a lot of awesome places to go to!

We had an amazing stay with family. The view of the water on one side and the bucolic field with horses on the other is an incredible combination. Just moments from Colonial Beach and a short drive to other nearby towns, this place was perfect for us. We’ll certainly be coming back the very next chance we get!

There simply is not enough space to list everything right about this property and the experience. We arrived and were instantly impressed by the immaculate grounds (even in winter) and the absolute charm of the home’s exterior. The interior living/dining/kitchen/sitting room open floor plan was immaculately clean and exquisitely appointed. It combined excellent space and comfort. The amenities available in the home were beyond compare.

We were so thrilled with our stay. Shannon was so kind and responsive and went out of her way to make sure our family had a lovely time. We also enjoyed the kindness and hospitality of the neighbors. The house was immaculate and the waterfront location can't be beat. We enjoyed crabbing from the pier and kayaking too. We plan to return!

This property was even more beautiful in person! I think the host thought of absolutely everything that we could have possibly needed. There was a tropical storm, and she went above and beyond making sure that everything was taken care of. We definitely will be back! It was an overall wonderful experience. Thank you.

I celebrated my 40th birthday with family and friends and everyone loved the home. I booked this because of the pool and because it was off the water. The house is much nicer and bigger in person. The inside looks like a model house. Beautifully decorated. It had everything single thing you could possibly need at a home. Enough dinning material, enough tables, chair wine opener, pots beach towels…. I mean everything!! Shannon left a cute little note and chocolates. The neighbors were nice and friendly. I would definitely recommend staying here. All of my friends and family would love to come back to this place. Thank you for a great stay!

This was our first time at Coloniel Beach and we couldn’t have picked a better house. The views were amazing the house was beautiful and it had everything anyone could need to feel at home. I highly recommend and we will definitely be going back!!!

This waterfront property is a hidden gem not too far from DC. Shannon has everything that you would need for the stay. Kids enjoyed the pool, games and books. Will definitely stay there again.

The photos do not do the house justice. Very quiet area but near town. The fishing was ok. There are jellyfish in the water. Very small. The pool was great. We ate at Wilkersons seafood. The service was horrible. The food was ok. Buffet is overpriced. The dockside grill and tiki bar was our favorite. Would highly recommend.

The house was great, and it included a number of games and other things to do when the weather isn't great. Because if the weather is nice you'll want to be by the pool or on the water.

The property is very nice, and very well outfitted. Kayaking there was great. And, I discovered I am an excellent air hockey player! It is also close to Westmoreland State Park which I highly recommend. A nice mid-week get away.
