About this cottage rental
Fleu da Coop is part of a recent revival to convert retired school buses into stylish motorhomes. These unique homes on wheels are called skoolies (or schoolies) and provide a truly unique glamping experience.
Our skoolie is a 38 ft. converted 2003 Bluebird school bus and offers all of the amenities you would expect in a traditional vacation rental, but kicked up a few levels of coolness. The perfect fish camp for a guy's getaway to fish the Crappie Capital of the World, Weiss Lake. (Fish cleaning station and fish fry equipment on site too!)
Enjoy farm fresh eggs delivered to your door to cook an amazing breakfast. Enjoy local honey from right here on our farm. Visit with our donkeys, emus, goats and chickens for a fun farm experience.
We are on the lake, but not on deep water. (the lake is behind our house but not accessible by boat). The closest launch is less than 1 mile away on our road and we have plenty of easy and secure boat parking with power.
SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS:
Fleu da Coop has 1 Queen memory foam bed in the back with 1 twin memory foam bed in the cabin and 1 twin memory foam bed that doubles as a couch. (Sleeps a total of 4 max). There is a TV in the queen bedroom with two small nightstands with shelves, lights, plugs/usb ports.
COOKING ARRANGEMENTS:
The kitchen has a 2 burner RV size propane stove top. There is also a gas grill with side burner on the patio. Need to clean those fish you caught on Weiss Lake? There is also a fish cleaning station available to guests on property. The kitchen holds a wine refrigerator and a hotel size refrigerator/freezer combo. Small appliances on board include a microwave, keurig coffee pot, tea kettle, mixer, and all the pots/pans, cooking utensils, dishes and glassware needed to do basic cooking.
BATH ARRANGEMENTS:
Space is a premium on a school bus, so the bathroom is where you take it from. Fleu da Coop's bathroom is built around the school bus wheel well. This creative use of space makes for a very tight entrance, but a full stand up shower. There is a lav sink on the wall to brush your teeth and wash your face. The toilet is a standard household model and sits up on the wheel well. (We only mention this because some skoolies have composting toilets. This one does not.) Reality: if you're big on luxury bathrooms, this skoolie is not that.
TV & INTERNET SITUATION
Our skoolie has one large TV in the main cabin and another small TV in the queen bedroom. Both Smart TV's have YouTube TV Premium and get all the live channels including local stations, comparable to Dish 200 package. The farm has Starlink Internet and gets the best service possible for our rural area.
OUTDOOR LIVING SPACE
In addition to sitting on a 23 acre farm, Fleu da Coop has it's own patio area just outside the bus. The space includes a picnic table, large outdoor space heater for those chillier evenings, a gas grill with side burner, firepit area with Adirondack chairs and a canopy covered seating area. You are free to explore our 23 acre farm anywhere outside the gates that enclose our personal living spaces and barn.
SECURITY
We are on property 24/7 for any concerns. You will also have a unique code for your entry to the bus via keypad. There is a safe inside the bus to secure your valuables.
When booking, please keep in mind that it is a converted school bus so it is 6'2" high for head room and 9 feet wide. There are also steps to climb when entering the school bus and the bathroom/shower. This is a "glamping" experience and there is a picnic table, grill, seating and firepit for outdoor relaxing.

Time spent here was fantastic. Scott went above and beyond to make our stay not only enjoyable but very informative. If ever in that area again I do hope the bus is still available for a nice, peaceful hearfelt mini vacation!!

We celebrated our Anniversary! It was an amazing experience! Everything u need for a wonderful experience is there, all u need is ur cloths and food. The farm is beautiful, the animals were great. The owners made sure we had all we needed on several occasions. It was so relaxing, peaceful, romantic, quiet, amazing and all of the above! It’s definitely an experience we will never forget EVER!!!

The Skoolie was great. Lots of character and perfect for my son and me. The owners of the farm were very communicative and welcoming. There are a couple great places to eat nearby as well that Scott told us about. Be mindful that the bathroom is very small, so as long as you don't mind navigating that this is the perfect place.

I first took my granddaughter (11 at the time) who was staying with me for a few weeks in the summer two years ago. She wanted to bring her younger brother who is now 10 to go camping again this year. We all had a great time. Jerry could have stayed with the animals all day!! Scott was very patient with showing and educating us about the animals. You could tell he loves doing it! Allie and I enjoyed just hanging out in the bus watching movies and taking a nap from a busy week! I did take Jerry fishing Saturday morning just down the street by "Jake's on the Lake." Definitely a jackpot for him to fish from the pier! Had a fresh green egg for breakfast....yes a green one!!! Looking forward to another visit in the future!

We were there to visit friends and our granddaughter came with us. We enjoyed the scavenger hunt and getting to see all the animals. The hosts were very friendly and attentive to make sure we didn't need anything. This place was very quiet and peaceful with lots to do in the area. I would highly recommend if you are looking to stay in something different than motels.

We enjoyed a stay on a funky, renovated school bus, a much nicer one than I road tripped on 49 years ago when moving from Florida to Missouri.
Sleeping accommodations were very comfortable. We used the stove, fridge, and kitchenwares which were very useful for our multi-night stay. We made a few campfires, grilled out, visited the animals, and cooked morning-fresh eggs from the farm.
The location is very convenient to parks and lakes.
The hosts were very pleasant and helpful in our making plans to eat out or choosing which outdoor adventure to take.

We had a lovely weekend staying here. The bus has been made-up into the cutest tiny home on wheels. The hosts were awesome, even taking the time to help us get our fishing poles assembled correctly. You can walk from the bus down to a dock and either fish or kayak on the lake. Wal-Mart was about 7 minutes away which was great for us, and we enjoyed eating at Tony's Steak Barn that's also about 6 or 7 minutes away. If you're looking for some fishing and relaxation this is good spot to be. Only wish we'd had more time to explore the surrounding areas and use the fire pit.

A wonderful experience aboard a converted school bus. Our hosts were great and would recommend this property to someone looking for something a little different.

We enjoyed our stay in the skoolie. Meredith and her husband were very friendly and helped us with any questions that we had. We especially loved the farm fresh eggs that were delivered to us in the morning.
I will say that the bathroom is definitely small. I am not sure if an older person who is not super mobile would do well in this space as you have to almost crawl to get in the shower. But other than that, it was great!
It was a fun experience and I would recommend the skoolie if you are interested in a unique glamping experience!

The host, Scott was great. Visited & fed the animals & he took his time telling us about them. We learned so much about all the animals. We had our privacy & enjoyed the camp fire & pic nic table. Restaurants are close & the cotton fields were beautiful. Our grandson had many first time experiences. He asked Monday morning were we going back to the blue bus lol. The bus has everything you need & beds were comfortable. The bathroom though is tiny & we were unable to take showers, but we got by for our weekend trip! We had so much fun it didn't matter since it was only two nights. Hey its camping, but in a cool bus! I highly recommend it. What wonderful memories we made.

My family was looking for an adventure and we found it at Gyspy Shoals Farm. This is truly glamping at it’s best. The skoolie was decorated so cute and there was plenty of space for our family of 4. The outdoor area was great and we had so much fun making s’mores over the fire pit. The highlight of the trip was definitely meeting all the animals.
With any listing make sure you read the information provided, we did and were prepared for the tight bathroom space.
This weekend trip will definitely be one we speak fondly of for years to come.

Scott & Meredith are WONDERFUL hosts. Very attentive, kind and considerate.
We were able to see the honey making process, and visit with their farm animals.
All their animals are enjoyable, especially Tonka!!
I highly recommend staying here!!

The accommodations were most charming! The reason for 4 stars- the bathroom is exceedingly tight, and would be impossible for anyone with mobility issues to shower. The door will not close if the toilet is being used, standing or sitting.
The host was quite gracious and very friendly, and the cotton fields and farm animals were a treat.

This is a neat lil place...highly recommend for a glamping experience. A lil tight in the bathroom but that was all part of the fun.

Our stay at Gypsy Shoals Farms was unforgettable! The bus has plenty of room and the AC kept us cool during the hot Alabama summer. The kitchen came with everything we needed, and the outdoor area was perfect for grilling, eating outdoors, and lounging. The sound system was amazing, please check it out!
The bed in the back was queen sized and extremely comfortable, and although the bus is parked near the bigger house, we felt complete privacy while we were there.
Scott and Meredith were available to chat and suggest restaurants and activities, and offer tours of their beautiful farm and all the interesting animals there. We loved the emus, alpacas, goats, and chickens.
We are already planning a return trip. Thanks, Scott and Meredith for a wonderful weekend!

My little family had a good time staying at Skoolie Glamping. My 3 year old enjoyed the baby goats! The owners are kind and love showing you around the property. We went for a small weekend getaway, we spent most of the day at Little River Falls and swam in Weiss Lake.

We loved staying here for the last couple of days. Scott was very friendly and welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed. He stopped what he was doing to give us a tour of the farm and taught us a lot we didn’t know about the animals. The bus is right outside of their house but we had plenty of privacy. The fresh eggs in the morning paired perfect with toast we made and topped with the honey from their farm. We were able to rent their kayaks to use and had a lot of fun. The bathroom is very tiny and was a bit of a struggle to use (I’m a bigger girl and my husband has a bad knee) but we made it work! We will definitely be back.

We came to bring grandkids to fish in a high school tournament and it was in a perfect location. Close to the launch, places to eat and anything we needed. The owners were very friendly and even shared their mini zoo with us. Shower is a little small for taller people but it could be managed. It was decorated perfectly and I’d definitely stay there again.

The property owners were very welcoming and accommodating to our needs. We had a wonderful experience on the bus and enjoying the property. While the living area in the bus was cozy and plenty spacious, you have to be creative with the bathroom. It was pretty tight especially for my 6’4” husband. Worth it for our great weekend away though. Thanks !

We had a wonderful time! The bus was so cozy and clean and comfortable. The only issue was that the bathroom was TINY, but it is a converted school bus. Also, we didn’t realize we would be in the owner’s front yard, but that didn’t end up being an issue because we had all the privacy we needed. The bus had lots of curtains. We had one problem turning on the stove, but the owner responded quickly and got it worked out.
We had a wonderful time and the bus was the perfect place to stay for a girls’ weekend!

We enjoyed our stay on this converted school bus. Our host was wonderful. He took us out to feed the animals and both of my granddaughters had a blast. It was a very unique experience. The bathroom was very small, but there was plenty of space to move about in the camper itself. I was excited to find that there was a Keurig coffee maker on the camper. It rained while we were there and we couldn’t enjoy an outside fire for very long. It was definitely a unique experience and I would stay there again. Great hosts!

Our stay here has been INCREDIBLE! It was my birthday weekend and I wanted something relaxing but fun to do and this was by far the perfect match! Scott is such an incredible host! He took us to see all the animals on his property, showed us the bees and inside their hive, showed us his shop, and even let us try some of their honey! He taught us about the fruits he has growing on his property, sat with us to talk about concerts, offered to build us a fire, and even sang me happy birthday the morning of my birthday!! Their sweet pup, Fisher, was definitely the star of the show! The whole experience was so far passed expectation it actually mind blowing! Its always a little nerve wracking going to places like this in the south as a lesbian couple because you never know if it will be well received but I’m here to tell you we were not just accepted but felt like we were his family! I don’t “hope” I get to stay here again because I KNOW we will! I can’t wait for our next adventure at the Skoolie!!!!!!!!

Super easy to find. My son loved the bus and making a fire at night to roast marshmallows. Close to both Little River Canyon and Desoto National Park. Hosts were super friendly and checked on us every morning before we headed out for the day. He had lots of great recommendations for things to do.

Scott and Meredith were perfect hosts! Loved all the little things thought of like toiletries, chocolates, etc! Pictures are exactly what to expect. Loved the tour of the farm. The bus has a quaint Bohemian feel and fits right in at gypsy shoal farms. Scott and Meredith show southern hospitality at its finest!

Our trip was full of memories that we will never forget. Scott was an amazing host. He was the best with kids. He took us to experience bee keeping and let us feed the animals multiple times through out the weekend. We will be definitely visiting this property again.
