About this house rental
Only 300 feet to the beach: Jewel of the Isle has thought of everything to satisfy every family member on vacation. Each of the 8 bedrooms has its own private bathroom, a TV and many have deck access. Its location is ideal being just a short distance to the Duck Landing beach access. Gather your family and friends and enjoy the good life at Jewel of the Isle. [Note: No dogs or other animals allowed in this home.]
TOP LEVEL:
An airy, open living area can accommodate everyone with a cook top, 2 dishwashers, 2 dining tables (each seats 10), and an over-sized flat screen TV and half bath. The King Master Suite has a large, remodeled master bath. The top level has access to wide open decks to the east and north side of the house. [Note: gas fireplace is not for guest use.]
MID LEVEL:
On this level you will find 4 Master Bedrooms all with deck access: 2 King Master Suites are at the front of the house; a Queen Master Suite and a double Pyramid Bunk Master Suite are at the back of the house. There is also a sitting room in between these bedrooms for watching TV or reading.
GROUND LEVEL:
The Game Room features a kitchenette, wet bar, beverage center, and large-screen TV. Three more Master bedrooms are located on the ground level: King Master Suite, a Master Suite with 2 Twin beds and another 2 Pyramid Bunk sets. The laundry area is on this level. There is parking for 4-5 vehicles at the front of the house.

The home features an elevator, private pool (14' x 27'), hot tub, and a private volleyball court! The Duck Landing Community Clubhouse features an indoor pool that is open year-round, game room and fitness center.

This house is a great location and has lots to offer, beautifully decorated, and well kept by the owner. We had no complaints. Easy walk to the beach too. Lots for kids and adults of all ages, great yard for playing games too.

What a perfect home and ideal location for our multi-generational family vacation! We choose OBX this year as our destination and were lucky enough to find Jewel of the Isle. Bright and open living space with three floors offering entertainment for everyone. The elevator proved very handy and the hot tub was a welcome relief after a day of exploring. Only steps to the beautiful beach, even less to the community pool and gym, and so close to Duck Donuts!!! (which ended up being a daily visit) The awesome local shops, restaurants, and fresh veggie stands are so close. No car is needed here!

This property was perfect for our large group. Very close to the beach,
The check in process was seamless. The kitchen had more than enough dishes, pans, serving dishes. 2 dishwashers, 2 sinks and 2 large tables to accommodate our large group. The bottom floor game room was used frequently. The pool and hot tub were perfect and the volleyball court provided hours of fun. We didn't have to use the club house, the weather was perfect, but it was also very clean. We would definitely stay in this beautiful home again.

Overall property was nice and spacious. It had some issue's, none of the bathrooms were cleaned properly, 1 bathroom had hair in the tub, a shower curtain had mildew on it, there was dirty dishes in with the clean ones, dishwasher did not "Clean" properly, the upstairs fridge took 3 days to actually get cold. It would really be nicer if it had some major upgrades, the wifi wasn't connecting properly and for a 8 bedroom home, that sleeps over 20 people the wifi should be better. One thing that made my family a little bit uncomfortable was the fact that the homeowners had family pictures throughout the entire house. We thought it was strange to have your families photos for strangers to see. Furniture was very uncomfortable, couches and beds.

First OBX Duck Vacation
We booked this trip as a replacement vacation during these crazy times. We ranged from a 9 month old to my 96 year old grandfather. I was worried because the house was still available at such a late date. We were pleasantly surprised at the condition and location of the house. We were 3 houses from the beach access. The house was close enough to walk back and forth for all our children. They would walk back for lunch or a quick swim in the pool. The house was also close to the town so they would walk or ride their bikes in each day. The property was everything we were looking for and one that I would use for my next trip to Duck... and I hope that will be soon.

Great house!
This house was great. Very short walk to the beach, pool, hot tub, plenty of space. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because you have to bring everything - from hand towels to hand soap, dish detergent, toilet paper, paper towels, they didn’t even have salt/pepper. Usually rental houses at least have cooking spray. Just be prepared for that and you will be good!

The property's location was just close enough to town, but far enough from the main road that we felt somewhat secluded. We were extremely close to the beach and club house, which was a great plus. The property is a lot more spacious than it looks on the website. Every bedroom and living room was spacious enough for our group to not feel too crowded. It was a great vacation and we'd love to come back to this house. We had a problem or two with the pool and one bathroom, but maintenance was quick to assist & resolve the problem within the day. It was a great vacation!

Due to hurricane Irene, our trip was delayed two days. In the meantime, the staff at Paramount was giving us very scripted, generic information about our accomodations and when we could check in. When we finally arrived, we found the home to be extremely
dirty. Not hurricane damage, but a home that was just basically dirty. Cabinets, drawers, bathrooms, bedrooms were disgustingly dirty. I spent two days trying to get the home clean enough for our guests. On Thursday, a representative visited from Paramount,
we told him of our complaints, but nothing was done. I would not use Paramount for this reason.

We arrived at "Jewel of the Isle" with great expectations. After all, for $8,527.80 we expected an immaculate and well-equipped home. What we found on our arrival was a dirty and unprepared home: dirt, hair, dead insects in corners and around baseboard; filthy dish drainer, mildew-covered shower curtain; unmade bed full of sand; crumbs in kitchen cupboards; missing smoke detector; broken window; ants in several rooms; insufficient refrigerators; very small grill (for 20 people) and not enough propane. These are just some of the problems we had, and after two weeks of communications with Paramount Destinations (requesting a partial refund), nothing has been done to make my family and me satisfied customers. The following statement appears on their communications: "The team at Paramount Destinations thanks you for your business and is looking forward to exceeding your vacation expectations." They do not stand by this statement.

We enjoyed our stay at Jewel of the Isle during the 3rd week of June. The weather was beautiful, not too hot and not too cool. The water was a chilly 74 throughout most of the week while the air temperature hovered at around 85. The rip current was strong towards the latter part of the week, but having vacationed along the outer banks for more than twelve years our family is accustomed to the unpredictability of the ocean. Our family enjoyed our days on the beach, in the pool at the home and in the hot tub. We also enjoyed the sand volleyball court on the property and the space for our younger family members to run around and play football. The home itself has a wonderful floor plan for our large family and the bedrooms have more than adequate room and bed arrangements for the varying ages of our family members. We did find the home to be lacking in pots and pans in the kitchen as well as dull knives and lack of some items necessary for feeding our large group. It is difficult for our family to eat out at restaurants and not be separated into smaller tables, so we eat at the beach house the entire week. All in all the trip was wonderful, flew by as all vacations on the outer banks do, but we look forward to renting Jewel of the Isle again.

Let me start by saying the property has a tremendous location to the beach access, indoor pool and community center. It is also just a short walk to Duck with its many shops and restaurants. Good location and very large house that works for a big family. Furnishing in main room lacking chairs and bar stools at proper height for counter. Pool liner needs work. Grill is very poor and too small for a house that holds so many people. Rugs were could have been cleaned. Umbrellas around the pool are needed. Very sparse furniture on the decking around the house. Check in time can be as late as 6 pm and we were told we could not even go to put cold food away by the management after we were on the road traveling for 7 hours( not a good start to our stay).
We will rent it again because of the size and location.
