About this house rental
The famed architect Brainerd Jones designed this historical Craftsman located in the heart of downtown Santa Rosa in 1917 for the Jacobs family, who supplied the original lighting for the Golden Gate Bridge.
Go back in time and experience what life might have been like in the early 1900's, while also enjoying the amenities of modern life.
Minutes walk to exciting restaurants, breweries and shopping, yet only a short drive (10-20 minutes) to some of the best wineries Sonoma County.
Only DISCLOSED number of guests are allowed into the property. We don't allow additional guests that are not part of the reservation. We also do not allow visitors that are not pre-disclosed to us prior to their visit.
By booking you agree that, there will be no unannounced guests other than the number of guests you have on your reservation and there will be no visitors during your stay.
Additional guests after 4 people or pets would require an extra charge of $75 per head on the nightly rate due to the usage and wear & tear on the home. Penalty for each unannounced guest or pet not disclosed prior to the stay is $150 per head (2x the normal charge). This is a 5 bedroom home which you occupy solely with your party. Depending on the number of people booking, we may block off access to some of the bedrooms to reduce cleaning fees.
For a party size of up to 4 people, you will have access to two bedrooms with king and queen beds and also a queen size sofa bed.
For parties of 5 to 6 people, we will open up a third bedroom with a king bed.
For parties of 7 to 8 people, we will open up a fourth bedroom with a queen bed.
For parties over 9 people, we will open up all five bedrooms. Fifth bedroom has a queen bed.

Beautiful restored home, well appointed with a pool table, hot tub, king & queen beds, formal dining area, bocce ball pit, quality appliances and TVs. A couple of items to be aware: READ THE FINE PRINT in the rental agreement. Even though we specified we were four 70 year old men they were only going to open 2 rooms which would have forced us to sleep together. We added a couple of guys and notified the owner using the VRBO app thinking we had 5 bedrooms but heard nothing until the last day when we were required to increase our rental rate substantially. The second item is the electric lock on the rear entrance. The battery goes dead very quickly if the door is not closed completely. Either leave it closed or open. You will enjoy this beautiful home.

This was just a fun place to stay. The rooms were lovely, the bathrooms were very nice and the kitchen was perfect. The young ones had the best time exploring all of the doors and the secret staircase, The back yard and patio was so wonderful. We were able to enjoy the outside as well as the inside. Thank you so much, we hope to come back again some day. The Martin's

It was overall a good experience and great location but there are several considerations that would have been good to know before I booked such as excessive noise day and night, narrow driveway for parking, substandard bedroom next to kitchen, no information about entrance into unit, wifi, etc. until you call them and also not available until day of arrival, availability of toilet paper and gardeners disruption.

First, the positives….this is a gem of a home. Lovely architecture and charm. Five huge bedrooms with lots of space, beds were comfy, nice towels and linens. Kitchen is well equipped and had everything we needed.
The downsides:
-the power had been turned off to the house, by the utility company, when we arrived. So, the fridge and freezer weren’t cold, & we had to go buy coolers and ice. Power took a while to be restored. Not clear how the cleaning crew did their job prior to our check in with no power. Definitely signs of previous renters in home. We did the dishes, etc.
- the checkin procedures are a series of videos texted to you a couple of hours before check in. They are not provided 72 hours prior to check in per VRBO policy. You won’t get a reply to your messages via the app or any other method until about 2 hours before check in,
-check the fine print on the rooms. We paid for 5 people and that gets you only 3 rooms. The owner worked with us, to be fair.
- the street in front of the home is a major thoroughfare. Street noise is a lot, all night long. And I live near a freeway, so this is saying something.
-there was an altercation that brought three squad cars from the local police at midnight on our last night of our stay
- As others note, hot tub seems unsafe. Power is kept off so pump and filter not running.

Beautiful house in a great location. Easy access from highway and five minute walking distance to many shops and restaurants. All was accurately depicted in the listing. Would definitely stay again.

Walking distance from everything in downtown Santa Rosa. Lots of coffee shops, ice cream shops, breweries, and amazing restaurants. Not that I expected any, but there aren’t any wineries nearby, so you need to plan to Uber/drive to the wineries

Beautifully remodeled home in Santa Rosa- perfect for a large group of friends with ample space and extra bathrooms. bocce ball quart and hot tub in a private backyard patio was an excellent way to end the night after touring wine country! Highly recommend a stay!

I felt so lucky to find this rental!
My bridesmaids and I stayed here during my wedding weekend while most guests stayed at a hotel nearby. It was the perfect place to set the tone for the weekend and to have a nice comfortable place for us to catch up, just a 10 minute walk from the rest of the festivities.
The hot tub didn’t work, and neither did the beautiful claw foot tub, which was disappointing.
The historic beauty and pretty decor made up for those functional downsides, for our purposes. We really enjoyed the backyard, too. It was nice to be able to stretch our legs and play some bocce ball the next day 😊

We liked everything about this place. It was clean and well equiped. However, there is only one small sofa, not very good if there are more than three people.

This property is in a perfect location and the house is beautiful. They try to blame the smell on the age of the house. There was vomit and pubic hair on the floor and the side of the tube in one of the bathrooms. It's a 5 bedroom house with 1 couch. This house has so much potential in the right hands.

Central location
This home has a lot of potential, from someone who is in the industry and has rented many VRBOs over the yrs this is def new and owner could greatly gain by feedback. We had a few issues, check in was very difficult and not communicated well, hot tub was not functional nor had it been when we booked as they had ordered a new one and nothing was said prior to visit, with it being an older home and some improvements there is a sewer pee trap smell coming from bathrooms that we all smelled and wasn’t great, tall parking garage directly behind is very noisy esp late at night to early morning. We were all woken up multiple times by loud racing and backfires and motorcycles. They do have lawn service to maintain the beautiful yard but they come super early in the morning just fyi..We were compensated for some issues that really dampened our stay which was nice but that was a battle. Overall I’m giving 5 stars due to the potential this property has and the eagerness of management to make some improvements and have better communication. We did enjoy how central it was to walking for quite a few things. Home inside is very beautiful and unique. They have set it up beautiful and the yard is great and will be better once the new hot tub is there. We would consider staying again depending on who was with us and what our itinerary is. I do feel they will work out some of these kinks that they can control as they seemed to really want to but we were the first to stay and like I said somethings needed much improvement. We wish everyone else a great stay here.
