Clean and enough space in the cottage for a family of 4.
Our cottage, number six, was right next to the service room with limited privacy.

Great view ! Good breakfast !
We loved everything about the hotel.

Hoger gelegen met prachtig uitzicht! Ruime kamer met veel kastruimte. Goed bed en fijne douche. Enorm ontbijt!

I loved the rooms, the sereneness of the location, the staff were absolutely amazing esp. Calvin who tended to my every need. the kitchen staff remembered all my orders even on days I forgot to place an order and gladly reminded me that the kitchen was closing etc.
We were first allocated the cottage which is far from the main hotel and the cottages are quite isolated but when I mentioned to Calvin that I prefer being in the main hotel he gladly moved us to the main hotel.

Very clean, friendly staff and the most amazing views from the cottages. Within walking distance from a few wine farms. Will definitely return.

Room could do with an update.

We loved staying at The Salene. It is around a 17 mins drive to Stellenbosch and the place is serene and comfy. You’ll find everything you need here. We came in after check in time and this was no problem at all, huge props for this. There’s a few wine farms in the area which are great to visit if you’re not keen on driving too far for one of those. There’s a good variety of breakfast; think of a proper combination of sweet and savory. The rooms are relatively large and the beds are nice too.

Nothing. Absolutely loved it

A cute place with beautiful views
Not much as it was as expected :)

The location was beautiful and the breakfast was really good!
The staff were not helpful, and the rooms were quite small.

It was 10 minutes drive outside of Stellenbosch, but beautiful views. The unit had aircon and wifi, fully equipt kitchen and Nespresso with compostable pods, which we appreciated. The pool was also lovely, but you need to drive/walk the 700m to the hotel. Wood was supplied for braai and bonfire in large firepit bowls.
Our cottage did not have a patio, while all the others did (#6). Aircon also did not function during loadshedding (understandable), but it was just super hot.

Beautiful views and location. Stunning breakfast spread. Friendly staff
Comfy room
No dinner available and it’s quite a drive to nearest restaurants.
Room wasn’t cleaned the one day but housekeeping manager quickly sorted out the oversight

3.5
Tolle Aussicht, schönes Ambiente
Viel verschenktes Potential, fehlende Führung, unaufmerksames Personal, nicht einladendes Frühstücksbüffet und alles außer Filterkaffee kostet extra. Barbetrieb nach 18:00 Selbstservice. Kein Abendessen.

Lovely location. Unfortunately we were there on a very windy day so couldn't enjoy the outdoors. Breakfast was great!
Reception desk seemed a little unmanned. No one there when we arrived and when we went out at night our gate tag didn't work to come back in and no one answered the phone so we were stuck outside until a car left and the gate was opened.

The breakfast was good and the facilities were clean. This destination needs own car.
Either than breakfast, there is limited food choices. There was just one dish and a cheese platter, you cant survive on that. Its difficult to move around if you don't have own car.

Absolutely nothing. Everything was excellent

The views were amazing and we enjoyed the fire pit outside. The cottage was well equipped and had everything we needed. The staff answered our queries promptly.
It was a bit hard to find the cottage- some more road signs would be helpful.

First time at a Boutique Hotel as opposed to a chain or standard hotel. A few things were different. Some better, some lacking.
The rooms were gorgeous. Decor apart from plastic flowers is beautiful. Gorgeous wall paper and lighting. Comfortable common area with fireplace that heats up the area. Staff are friendly. Lovely and spacious bathrooms - 10 gold stars for that alone. Exceptional view of the mountains. Really beautiful setting. Breakfasts are fabulous. Beds are super comfortable. I've been convinced up to now that my personal bed is the most comfortable you can get. I was wrong. This hotel has excellent beds. Very comfortable and spacious with lovely windows that open wide.
Plastic flowers are a reminder of one of the many ways we fail as a species. They mock the decor put into the hotel. We can always do better than plastic ornaments especially plastic plants. No... Just no! Lol. This is a lovely establishment but I find the boutique experience a bit lacking when I'm comfortable with the standard chain hotels provide. It would have been nice to enter without ringing the intercom twice. A porter to carry my luggage up the stairs was also missed. Definitely missed the phone that calls reception and had to go down to request toilet paper. Also TVs only have DSTV where you watch endless advertisements that tests your sanity. If this was a weekend on my own, that would be a dealbreaker. Most other hotels have Netflix and other options. We had an agenda with wine tasting and dining out so it was excusable but did watch the same car advert 5 times during a Come Dine with Me episode. We also had to wait a long time to book an Uber. Third time lucky with that. Stellenbosch is not Cape Town I know, but the little things make the difference.
