This is an absolutely charming pub/restaurant in the middle of the Sussex countryside with a few rooms. All around are lovely walks and views, and it is only a shortish drive (albeit down very narrow country lanes) from Lewes, Hove, and Brighton. Our room was very comfortable with a splendid bathroom, and lovely view. We ate dinner on Saturday night and it was inventive and delicious cuisine using a lot of local ingredients. Highly recommended, not least because the owners and staff are particularly friendly.

Quiet and comfortable
Booking .com has the property in Lewes - but it is 4 miles outside Lewes.

Lovely spacious rooms. Good food. Nice walking area.
Located via narrow lanes with large potholes and ditches.

The location was idyllic for a quiet get away, the staff were exceptionally welcoming to us (including our dog) and nothing was too much for them!
We wish we could have stayed longer!

The accommodation was really comfortable. The team were totally invested in the place and were really interested and excited by the place and surroundings! The food was tremendous - eat here and the wine was delicious, well chosen and really interesting! We had a wonderful time.

Fabulous hideaway, quiet, authentic, English Pub. Nice warm fire, lovely walks with the dog and delicious food
Wine was pricey

It felt like arriving a a tucked-away country pub which the locals would wish to keep quiet about so that they could keep it to themselves! From the outside at the front, not much gives away the cosy, open-fired interior with cask beer barrels on show. Improvements in the garden point to an ambitious team with a vision for entertaining.

Old world atmosphere. Delicious fine dining dinner. Beautiful room - large and well appointed
A little challenging to find as it’s situated deep in the countryside. The pub looks nothing special from the front lane as you drive up but step inside to a wonderful experience.

We had an amazing stay. The room and facilities provided were great. The bed was so comfortable, we really struggled to get out in the morning. We would definitely come again if needed as we were attending an event in the area.

Good breakfast.
Good location
Room was small, very warm

Very well finished property, beautiful shower, friendly helpful staff, fabulous breakfast all in a wonderful setting

It was OK, a bit disappointed, didn't really get the mushroom duxelles and quite a long wait, however, friendly waitress and nice room.
4.7
Rooms spacious with care and attention paid to what they provided.

Peaceful location. Room facilities, grounds and restaurant all very special.
Lots of really homely touches in the room which made it even more welcoming.
Staff were incredibly accommodating and helpful.
Probably not advisable to anyone unstable on foot as ground uneven and lots of slopes and steps. That said, I managed pretty well with a broken leg and using one crutch.
4.7
The food was fresh and delicious.
Bed comfortable, shower great.
Staff really friendly and helpful and our dog was made to feel welcome.

The staff were very nice and helped us find the place (it wasn't that easy to find at night). The room was lovely, the whole estate seemed nice. We probably didn't make a lot of our stay, as we came late and had to leave early - we just needed a location near the Plumpton Collage for the night and this made a lot of sense. Maybe we will come back and make more of it next time.
They probably do a very nice breakfast and we were looking forward to it, but unfortunately they only were able to serve it after we had to leave around 8am. We got packed breakfast instead, which was nice of them, but it wasn't great (but they tried).

Location
The extractor unit under my bedroom window was like being beside m25

Great location for a quiet, relaxing stay

Beautiful setting at the foot of the downs, it is quite remote but that suited me well. I had a lovely room with views across the countryside.
Unfortunately the hot water was off for a few hours due to a fault with the system which was a pain, but it couldn't be helped and the staff were really helpful and came up with lots of ideas to help.

Very convenient for Glyndebourne. Nice comfortable room with all facilities.

Very friendly staff. Very dog friendly. Excellent breakfast. Peaceful location with good dog walking. Elderflower cordial in the fridge was a nice touch although we did not realise until we were leaving! Beautifull garden
All good.

The decor and the setting. Lovely outdoor spaces! The staff were friendly and helpful.
Perhaps I ordered wrong. The food I ordered was a little disappointing and pricey. The French toast with blackberry compote sounded better than it tasted. The quinoa salad was not particularly tasty. My husband was very pleased with his orders though. Our room, though comfortable, was too small to be called comfortable. The bathroom, on the other hand, was spacious and nice. I do wish people would furnish shelves in bathrooms though. It is an annoying trend. The only shelf was used by the staff for stacking towels.

Food & staff amazing!
Not far from Glyndebourne
Looked a little unkept from the front & no clear entrance from the carpark

Beautiful quiet country location, friendly staff and great room
We would have preferred different lager than only local brewed and whilst food was good, would not say it was value for money.

very stylish room and spacious, bathroom was very modern and clean. location was very good too! breakfast was delicious, I would definitely recommend it.
the only “but” that it was a little a bit cold in the room and in the breakfast room. I don’t think there was any heating on.
