Beach is nice. House wants to be more than it is currently.

It was a fantastic place to stay for Thanksgiving. The house was perfect. My family was comfortable and happy. The elevator was made it much better for a family member with disabilities. We would definitely stay here again.

We were happy with the home. Loved the pool, hot tub, all the bedrooms with bathrooms accommodated us well. Had a wonderful family vacation. Great memories!

The first issue I had was when I received communication from vacasa as I reserved this house under VRBO. The house was great, but does need some love. On the outside the house needs new paint, the deck has some soft spots and needs to be addressed. The landscape needs to be pruned. In addition, the bedroom in the lower level has a smell and needs to be addressed. In addition, we had a problem with the top floor air conditioner. After 22 hours of reporting the issue a service technician came out; however, because the unit was under a warranty he could not work on it. During the 22 hours we did not receive any updates from vacasa. We had to call several times to ask about the issue. The fix was putting a window unit in the top floor bedroom. The confusion of the property manager regarding the warranty and which company needed to repair the air conditioner is a big problem. The issue could have been resolved sooner if they had the proper contact information regarding the house and the equipment. Overall, the issue caused us to change plans as we didn't know when someone needed to get in to the house to work on the unit. I would like a discount for the disruption on our vacation. The owner of this house needs to check in to make sure it is being taken care of properly.

The space had everything we needed for three families to enjoy some colder weather downtime, the shuffleboard was a huge hit and the hot tub was just the right temp for the chilly days and nights. Beds were comfy and the widows walk was lovely for watching sunsets. The beach was a short walk and we saw deer and dolphins daily. Would love to return in peak season. I will say that it’s probably time
For a new dining table. The finish is so gummy it’s constantly sticky making it a challenge for card games and just a bit unpleasant, but these houses see so much wear it’s to be expected at beach houses. Overall great stay!

The house has lots of potential, but there were a laundry list of things wrong and most were never addressed. Ice maker didn't work, refrigerator on 2nd floor didn't work, jets in master bath tub didn't work, no furniture on decks to sit on, marijuana on night stand in one bedroom, dirty towels on deck, 4 beds made with dirty linens, ceiling fan in bunk room wouldn't turn off leaving top bunk off limits to children, one of the exterior doors on upper level wouldn't lock, clothes in dresser from previous guests, gas grill severely rusted (wouldn't use it), and this just scrapes the surface. The staff at the Vacasa office were more than happy to talk with us during our stay (6/4-6/11/22) during which time they promised this and that. Someone delivered a few bags of ice, some chairs for the deck, and replaced the spray nozzle at the kitchen sink. Of course since our vacation is over, none has followed up as promised. Definitely over payed for a.house in desperate need of attention!

Loved that this home allows pets. Great location with views of ocean and sound. Home could use some deep cleaning and new light bulbs.

Loved the location to the beach and the pool got so much use. It was very clean and well taken care of. It was also very safe with the gate. The grill was not usable upon arrival but was quickly replaced by Vacasa. We also weren’t able to use the paddle boat because there was a large crack in it. The enclosed porch was very moldy and we didn’t allow the kids to go in there. The elevator was extremely helpful. We loved the cul de sac, lots of bike riding! We would rent this house again!

The pool, large rooms, overall layout was good. Minimum walk to the beach. There were somethings that weren’t great. Carpet in 2 bedrooms was very dirty, missing or not working light bulbs in kitchen, great room and driveway area, electrical outlets in kitchen kept kicking off, screened in porch had mold and wasn’t useable for us, air vents were covered in dust and dirt. Property needed some TLC and a good cleaning.

Enjoyed our time!

We rented this house for a week with some friends and really liked most things about the house but
The good: The rooms are well appointed, lots of board games, shuffle board, large kitchen with a breakfast nook and a real nice dining area and also a large living room with lots of comfortable seating. We enjoyed the swimming pool and the hot tub and luckily the weather turned out great the whole time we were there. The house is also very close to the beach (less than a 5 min walk) so that was really good too
The not so good: As good as the amenities in the house were, some things felt outdated. The fridge in the second floor didn't really cool anything, the hot tub's buttons didn't respond very well and took a lot of effort to press each button and the tools in the kitchen all felt real flimsy and not very easy to work with. We also didn't have any chairs or seating on the decks on either floor although they were advertised in the pictures
Finally, we booked this year with Outer Beaches Realty because we had such a great experience with OBR in the previous few years. Vacasa bought out OBR after we booked the house and somethings just felt off. They emailed us some strange rules like "no more than 2 cars in the driveway" although the house itself could hold 6 cars in the drive way. The cleaning was also a bit off because we found a bunch of crumbs under the couch and some glasses that were not so clean, which we'd not really ever experienced with our previous rentals

When my father wanted to use the jacuzzi, it was not working. When the maintenance person came out they had discovered that someone else had tried to fix it and the test wire was still on there. The company should have known the jacuzzi was not working before we rented the house. I am currently waiting to hear back from a manager after the second time calling in the hopes of some sort of a refund. They offered us a refund if we wanted to leave early so they could get a head start on cleaning. Housekeeping did come out right away when we let them know the place was not as clean as it should have been . The pool lock came off because the pole is dry rotted so they really need to fix that . They did fix the lock but the pole needs to be replaced ,The maintenance and housekeeping people are very nice I am guessing they are formerouterbeaches employees. Generally speaking it is a beautiful home.

First time Hatteras, typically we stay in Duck. Very calm and relaxing. The shuffleboard table is great and a lot of fun. May rent the house again as long as the price stays near what it is

Perfect Location
We loved the location of this house, close to the beach trail with nice boardwalk, private culdesac, lots of yard space. The house is very spacious, all rooms are nicely sized, loved the laundry room and the elevator was extremely helpful transporting luggage and groceries. All of the decks have wonderful views, kitchen had most of everything we needed, and enjoyed the shuffle board game.
Some of the rugs and furniture are dated and could use updated, pillows were flat(happy we brought our own), hot tub is older with some jets not working. But overall we would definitely stay at Horizons again!

The house itself was absolutely gorgeous. It had space for our whole family. The location near the beach and the pool kept us busy all week. The views were incredible. This was one of those vacations where you didn`t have to worry much about keeping yourself busy because the house provided it all. We played volleyball and Ping Pong and loved all of the games in the house. It was mostly clean, provided all of the kitchen supplies we needed. It was truly an awesome family vacation and our only disappointment was dealing with maintenance and the lack of a dishwasher. Thanks for another great week at the Outer Banks! Second time I have stayed at this location. Nice layout. Very convenient to beach. Almost as good as oceanfront at a much more economic price. Appears to have been recently renovated. This review was submitted while the home was managed by a different property management company.
