We are close to Kangaroo Valley, about 2km into the centre of town, with restaurants and the local pub. There are many activities available in our area horse riding, canoeing, bike riding, and even a local vineyard.
We will send you a welcome manual with all the best things to do in the area! Please feel free to ask us any questions and we will be more than happy to assist you, to make the most of your holiday!
You will have access to the cottage and surrounds, a private driveway.
Our beautiful, rustic cottage also comes with air-conditioning and heating, to help with the cool Winter nights and the heat of Summer - it's perfect all year around! The cottage comes with basic kitchen amenities, as well as some of our lovely fresh, free-range eggs.
The property is surrounded by amazing views of the Kangaroo Valley escarpment, which is particularly picturesque in the evenings. There is a rural view from each cottage window over our farm and the neighbouring property.

THINGS TO KNOW:
*Checkin details will be sent either the night before checking in, or the morning of check-in for security reasons.
*We are a working farm, we have 8000 chickens that produce lovely eggs in a true free range set up. Our girls are moved onto fresh grass twice a week to allow them the best access to grass, bugs and new places to explore. We used to have them at home, but now the livestock part of the farm is a few kms down the road.
*We do run the processing component of the farm from the big shed you pass on the way in. This means there are always people coming and going, although every care is taken to minimise disturbance to the cottage.
*If you want to know more about our little farm you can see us online at Kangaroo Valley Pastured Eggs!
*There is a large mulch pile at the start of the driveway. We also run Delicious Gardens, Kangaroo Valley. Our gardeners will make sure that disturbance is minimal, however, it should be noted that you may see some of our friendly staff near the mulch pile!
*We have a lovely farm dog called Indi, as well as two young goats. They may pass the cottage when in the yard. They are all super friendly, and we welcome you to say hello to all our farm animals!
*Due to the recent reports of Foot and Mouth Disease, we ask all international guests to follow the Biosecurity Rules of the Government. This is usually indicated on your Visa details as part of the requirements. We love our farm animals and try to look after them as much as possible!
* We only provide 1 set of keys for each stay. We do not have extra sets.

Lovely cabin. Very comfy and romantic. Nice outdoor space too and very handy for Kangaroo Valley village. Garden gets very muddy and water logged after rain so take boots.

This quaint little cottage delivered all it promised & more. Our only disappointment was that we didn’t get to meet Barry the microbat

The Getawayz team was so helpful with communication and any questions asked. They were prompt and gave us all the detailed information needed for check in and check out.

We really enjoyed our stay because the house was very clean & it had all the amenities we needed. It was very serene & peaceful & we loved sitting on the outdoor porch with our dog Maya. The property was really close to the town & we enjoyed our dinners at The Friendly Inn hotel.
4.7
Quaint, comfortable, relaxing with all the required creature comforts.

Great cottage and lovely spot

Great place, really quiet, lovely birds and the high street had very cool places to visit

We loved our stay at Scribbly Gum cottage. Our two dogs loved going for walks in the back paddock and into town. We even saw a couple of roo’s out the back - very fitting for Kangaroo Valley.
The cottage was perfectly sized, and well kitted out. There were more DVD’s than a blockbuster video - although we preferred to enjoy watching the sheep out the window.

What a treat to be able to stay in a piece of Australian history! The cabin is cozy and has pretty much everything you need/want for a short stay.
I have to admit that I didn't try to cook breakfast on the one cooking plate.
The location is great, the sky that night was AMAZING - dark site meant you could actually see the milky way!
Thank you for the gifts - and I am sorry about the sash window! .... oh - and there was no sign of Barry !

I booked the property to suprise my wife for a baby moon with expecting our first child
In October.
Couldn’t recommend the property high enough we had an amazing stay everything was perfect and communication reflect all of the above as well.
Would recommend this property to all family and friends back home in Sydney.

Great little cottage tucked away in beautiful Kangaroo valley

We looked forward to our stay here and while our stay was comfortable, there were a few things that threw us off. Let's start with the positive. The WIFI was excellent, the ability to watch wildlife in the evening was amazing, seeing Barry (the local bat and his friends who do live in the attic) was fun and the size of the cabin was just perfect. The walk into town was exactly 1.5 miles and you never heard road noise or farm animals during your stay. I am bummed we missed the goats.
The few negatives that I would add are the ad makes it seem rustic but very modern inside. That is only true for the bathroom shower. Also, they say they pride themselves in cleanliness and I would say you will have to realize that you are staying in a old cabin on a farm. Cobwebs and dead bugs everywhere, mouse poop in the kitchen area (this was not bat poop from Barry getting in.), stains on the bathroom walls and our sheets seemed off. The windows didn't shut all the way, the doors had gaps at the bottom and the screen didn't shut on the front door so you couldn't leave it open for airflow without bugs, flies and mosquitos getting in during the evening. Lastly, sometimes the workers that are there will block the driveway to get into your place. This was odd, but we were able to work with it. These things are more of a for your information so as not to be surprised like us.
Let's end on a high note. This is a chicken farm and so they leave you a dozen eggs which are delicious! They also leave you a bottle of sparkling and some chocolate. Those were nice welcome gifts. The property management company is very fast in responding to anything you need and communicating with the owners if need be.
In closing. We enjoyed our stay but couldn't give it 5 stars.

The cottage was absolutely beautiful and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Our dog couldn’t be happier running around in the fields and relaxing on the front porch. The location is perfect. Close to beaches and also a lot of hiking tracks. The perfect getaway to relax and rejuvenate. Highly recommend!!!

A beautiful and rustic retreat in Kangaroo valley
4.7
A quaint rustic destination (both in fact, and by additional fabricated design features) which had all the mod cons we needed and did not disappoint. We didn't have any bat encounters but think that we could hear some high pitched squeaks from time to time. A bit of wombat activity. We found the advice regarding door locking a bit amusing- tenants are advised to lock the front door should they need to go out . A bit pointless , as every window-except one- had no locks on it and was easily opened. Didn't worry us though. It has been exceptionally wet, but even so, some gravel or similar on the driveway wouldn't go astray. It is very muddy and rutted in sections, there was a bit of traction loss in the boggiest bits, and we had to be careful exactly where we parked, to minimise the chances of stepping out into a muddy patch. But we loved the verandah and it's furniture where we could comfortably remove muddy shoes before entering

Great place to stay in Southern Highlands / Shoalhaven area. Perfect with our pooch. High ly recommended.

Beautiful property and all the amenities.
Could have been a bit cleaner.

Stayed at Scribbly Gum Cottage for 2 nights in August.. Felt like the sheets and covers could be cleaner.
Otherwise the place was very quiet and comfortable.
The team was very easy and professional to deal with.

Superbly renovated basic rustic settlers cottage set well behind the main house in a private tranquil bush setting .Importantly a very comfy bed and pillows . Everything we needed including the coffee machine first thing in the morning . Close to the main lovely village of Kangaroo Valley to explore. Our 2 year old Jack Russell enjoyed exploring the many smells of wombats nearby and the Kangaroos down in the back paddock. Also loved sitting by the outdoor wood fire pit having a pre dinner drink. Thankyou for the easy directions and access to your property.
4.7
Easy to find close to Kangaroo Valley township and cafes - a step back in time - nicely renovated but basic cottage- great to have the coffee machine first thing in the morning. Loved being able to have our 2 year old Jack Russell with us, kangaroos in back paddock and a wombat nearby. The fire pit was great out the back to have nibbles and a glass of bubbles or wine- The bed was very comfy and we didn’t encounter the micro bats thankfully.
4.7
Lovely quiet cottage in very rural setting close to Kangaroo Valley village with everything we needed for a peaceful time away surounded by curious wildlife.
