Had a wonderful stay, place was beautiful like in the pictures and clean. Very well equipped. View overlooking the hills was gorgeous. Location was great, things are very close if you have a car. Neighborhood is safe and clean. If you have small kids, the staircase is a risk because our 1.5 year old could easily slip through the railing with his body.

Pleasant condo with wonderful views. Well equipped kitchen, great beds and easy drive to UCSB, botanical gardens, restaurants and beaches. Enjoyed several excellent restaurants, beach walks and downtown shops. Owner was quick to respond to messages which is always a plus.

The best stay in Santa Barbara and I highly recommend to anyone visiting! John is an amazing and accommodating host. The views from the bedroom and living room were spectacular. Very spacious house and conveniently located by State Street, Shoreline Park, and Hendry’s beach. Will definitely be back!

The condo was clean and spacious, the host was friendly and the view of Santa Barbara was an unexpected surprise. Highly recommended (especially if you have your own car.)

While not fancy, it was clean, quiet, well equipped, comfortable and fairly priced.

I would recommend this condo to others without hesitation. Everything was in good shape. Worked very well for two of us. Internet was good for remote work. We were there 5 weeks and when we did have a few minor issues/questions the owner was very responsive and easy to communicate with. Place was well-equipped. The beds were very comfortable and we had quiet for sleeping (perhaps my biggest concerns in a vacation rental). Also the location on the mesa is great - we had never been to Santa Barbara before and kind of lucked into it. In addition to the view, which is as advertised, there is nice walking in Honda Park. Further, you are close to downtown and the water (we actually walked a number of times although you have to embrace the hills).

We were grateful to be able to stay in such a nice home while in the Santa Barbara area while our daughter recovered from surgery. The area is safe and quiet with a beautiful view of the city. John was attentive to all of our questions and checked in on us occasionally. We were sad to leave and will come back to stay in the future.

We spent a long holiday weekend in Santa Barbara. We had long days of walking around, trying all the restaurants, shopping and visiting friends, so we didn’t use the kitchen, but it was wonderful to come back to such a comfortable plaice to relax and sleep. Had we not had friends at another location, we would have spent more time in this space as it was serene! We ended up staying on a weekend with record high temperatures, and the place has no air conditioning… so we’re concerned when we arrived as the bedrooms are upstairs and just walking up the stairs it was definitely more muggy/hot.,, but we opened the windows and started the fans and even late afternoon it still quickly cooled off. We slept in both bedrooms (front room was a bit cooler than the main bedroom at night, although we slept both in fine. ). I am a snob about beds and comfort and both were top notch! From bed comfort to linens, to decorations, well thought out.

We loved everything about the place. Location is great, close to beaches and downtown, but on a very peaceful street lending itself to nature walks. The house is beautifully decorated, and beds very comfortable. John is an amazing host, who responds very quickly to any questions or concerns. We will definitely be back!

I stayed here for a longer-term stay, about 10 weeks, this summer while on a research fellowship at UCSB. The condo was clean and well stocked and had a tremendous patio and bedroom view, especially lovely at sunset. John was always quick to respond to any messages and everything was smooth with check in, etc. It's a nice quiet complex and the neighbors are all friendly. Close enough to downtown and the beaches but secluded and quiet at the top of the mesa. There's also a small trail network close by for a short hike or trail run. Definitely recommend this spot!

Owner John was great. They had done some recent design up grades and it really set a great tone for our visit. Close to downtown and the Mesa with amazing views, John also had stocked the place with general supplies so didn't feel nickled and dimed. Big bedrooms, thanks John will be back!

I have owned TWO Short Term Rental units in Santa Barbara (with over 400 stays between them). We sold them two years ago to move abroad... but we do understand the market.
A bit of background might be helpful...we contacted John needing an "emergency medical stay" with less than one week notice. He agreed to allow us to stay even before the remodel work on his unit was completed. For our part, we were so grateful, we agreed to allow workmen in to finish.
Santa Barbara is a VERY competitive market, and all owners in Santa Barbara work hard for rental business. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Alta Mesa. John and Connie tag team to get it right! John was so understanding of our emergency "specific" needs.and bent over backwards to accommodate us, and his property manager, Connie was delightful to work with!
John and Connie were both wonderful to work with, and we were very comfortable with the whole arrangement. Our communication with them was STELLAR.
The condo has been lovingly updated with superb taste. AND...FYI, the location cannot be beat!
We enjoyed our evening view from the small but cozy back patio, overlooking Santa Barbara and the Golden Sunset Light on Figeuroa Mountain!!!! It was magical!!!!
John is very responsive, especially for a brand NEW owner. I can tell he wants to get it right!
We were the very first "vacationers" to stay in his new place. I just have to say....Well done!
If you are considerdering staying here. Its a great spot. I will say they need to add more information tot he web-site... its helpful to include information about the amenities, the appliances, the jacuzzi, pools, club house and the local hiking trail. It would be helpful for people to understand just how close (short walk up-hill) to a major shopping area with restaurants, and ll the services you could need). A short drive down the hill (7 minutes) you are in the center of Santa Barbara. another 5-7 in the other direction...you'r eat the BEACH!
There are not enough stars in the universe to award to John and Connie for theirs first (and certainly not last) rental!
