About this cottage rental
Step back in time and experience the best that Humboldt has to offer at the exceptionally preserved Shore Acres cottage. Set on a serene and completely private parcel, this unique property offers unobstructed views of the Pacific Ocean and access to the Mad River frontage beach, as well as a private duck-stocked pond and local creek. Take a romantic stroll through the immaculately preserved grounds, and enjoy a sunset bonfire on the string lit terrace overlooking the ocean. Unforgettable!
The space
The Shore Acres Cottage is perfect for a romantic getaway, small gatherings of friends and family, and for those seeking a retreat space that is private, peaceful, and serene, yet conveniently located. The cottage is modest in size, yet has all of the comforts of home. Two bedrooms and a sleeper sofa make it a comfortable stay for up to six guests. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you might need to cook and entertain during your stay.
Set on a nearly 30 acre parcel, boasting many wetland features such as a duck-filled pond, a meandering creek, and private access to the beach on the mouth of the Mad River overlooking the Pacific ocean, this property is perfect for those who want to experience a unique and private getaway. Guests are expected to stay within the property lines, which will be discussed in the guidebook upon booking. We expect guests to be responsible considering all of the water features around, especially those with young children. Located just minutes from highway on ramps and the local airport, the protected location of the cabin provides tranquility and peace from the outside world. The cottage does include wifi, DirectTV cable, forced air heating, and all of the essentials needed for the ultimate escape here on the Redwood Coast.
Guest access
Guests will have access to the cabin and the land that surrounds the cabin. The property is private, and the guests and those in their party will have access to the grounds surrounding the pond, beach access to the Mad River bank, and access to the picnic table and bluffs overlooking the pacific ocean. Guests will also have access to the locked garage where some supplies and the bbq will be stored during your stay.
Other things to note
Due to the rural area surrounding the house, we were not able to get high speed internet, but we do have good wifi, with a download speed of 27 Mbps. We ask that you limit excessive use of streaming and other types of scenarios that may drain our 350 gb a month plan. We also do not guarantee free firewood during your stay. We usually have a stash nearby, which I will detail the location of in the guidebook.
*We charge a $85 cleaning fee for this property. Occasionally, airbnb glitches and sets our cleaning price lower. If you notice this, please connect with me directly prior to booking, and I will fix the issue. Thanks!

Adorable, well maintained cottage with great privacy. Walk to Hammond path should be a priority, fern walk cannot be beat! Bring your wine, a good book and enjoy an evening listening to the waves. Pure relaxation.

This place is all about the outdoors.
Cozy country cottage for a perfect couple’s get away. Says it will sleep 6 but that would be too close for comfort for all but the tightest group. Two bedrooms each with a queen bed would work for four, but the small living area with just a couch and one recliner would be tight for indoor seating. It was like visiting great grandmas with all of the antique furnishings. But this place is all about the outdoor space. Beautiful river and ocean views. We enjoyed the outdoor seating on the deck and around the firepit.
