It was fun being on a working farm. Kevin & Tiffany were great hosts, always asking if we needed anything. Great time for couples

Absolutely a wonderful stay. We too got to see a SpaceX launch. Amazing hosts and being able to listen to the sounds of nature all around us. Very good interaction

We had a fantastic stay. The apartment was clean and we had everything we needed. Everything was as described in the listing. This is absolutely a REAL FARM and we LOVED it! The apartment is over the stable. Roosters crow in the morning. We saw horses and their babies, sheep, chickens, and farm cats. The property is in a neighborhood of Los Olivos, and within walking distance to their downtown. There is also a convenient market right down the road (~5 minute walk). We used this as a home base for exploring the region while our daughter was at camp at the prep school next door. It's centrally located to lots of small towns, hiking, beaches, and cute shops. Bonus: we were there in mid-June and the fruit and veg at the roadside stands was amazing.

We were delighted to pull into a beautiful working horse farm at the edge of town. It's quiet at night, and dark enough to get a beautiful view of the stars. Super friendly cats! The unit is clean, has everything we needed to cook up a breakfast, and offerred a nice place to rest in between wine tastings. We were lucky enough to see a SpaceX rocket launch from Vandenburg AFB. The hosts are very nice and accommodating. A grocery store/deli is literally a 2 block walk away. We all agreed we would stay here again in a heartbeat!

A wonderful stay on a working horse farm, with barn cats, chickens, sheep along side. Close to town and vineyards. Authentic country accommodations.

Loved the animals, loved the town, loved our stay!

What a beautiful property on a working ranch. Everyone we encountered, including the horses and chickens were delightful. Walking distance to town and a very quiet and peaceful experience. We will stay here again. Excellent property and fresh eggs were included.

We really enjoyed our stay at the ranch. The two bedroom/two bath apartment, located above a barn, was spacious and had plenty of room for two couples. The beds were comfortable and the place was well equipped. The views were wonderful, with horses as far as you could see along with other ranch animals. We even used the BBQ one evening which worked great. The Los Olivos market is walking distance and was quite convenient. There were many wineries close by, and the town of Los Olivos was just around the corner. Our favorite part, were the friendly horses, including a 7 month old colt right outside the barn. We will definitely be back!

Really cool barn in a great location

The check in was easy, we loved the beautiful house over a working barn, the ambiance of a true working horse ranch was amazing. Everything inside worked perfectly, and outside was charming, fun and unique. If you like to see incredible and rare horses, this VRBO has to be the best in the world! The ranch is large, and you have it all to yourselves (except for the people taking care of the animals.) Bonus is how close it is to Los Olivos, Solvang, and the Chumash casino. We went to all three.

Arriving alone (at the last minute hubby had to stay home with a sick pet) late in the afternoon in the middle of a rare (for the area) rainstorm, it was a wonderful surprise to find the fresh eggs and cheese in the refrigerator so I didn't have to venture back out again that rainy evening.
The 2-bedroom apartment above a barn is clean and well appointed. It was very quiet at night - except for a few horses whinnying early in the evening and the occasional croaking frog. After about 9am it is completely quiet and dark. On a clear night probably great for star-gazing. The directions the homeowner provided were perfect, but I still suggest arriving before dark the first night so you can more easily find your way.
In the morning, from the window in the dining room I was able to see the farm waking up (there are lots of horses and the place is surrounded by corrals) - feeding horses, mucking corrals, chickens and cats wandering. I grew up with horses so I enjoyed my stay on The Farm, but if you aren't keen on farm life, horses, or dirt you might find somewhere else more to your liking. If you are, I think you will find this a nice getaway with the feeling of living on a farm.

My friends and I all agreed that our stay was very enjoyable. Between visiting the horses and chickens at the ranch, walking into Los Olivos and the proximity to all the winery's, we had a great time and will be coming back. Everyone was very friendly and helpful at the property.

If you love horses, chickens and the outdoors this is the place for you. Los Olivos offers wine tasting venues, coffee shops and some restaurants. Loved the Los Olivos Grocery Store. They have great sushi, fine wine selection, and deli within walking distance.

Everything was great...the place worked beautifully and it was out in the country---yet close to the small towns. Definitely recommend!

Hosts were wonderful and easy to communicate with. We didn't get to play with the horses but at least they seemed happy to see us every day! Walking distance (1 mile) to Los Olivos. The property was clean, had adequate A/C, and was stocked with everything we needed for our stay. Would recommend!

Great location and beautiful scenery all around! We had everything we needed. The beds were comfortable and the accommodations are exactly as listed. Would definitely stay here again and recommend to friends.

We found it to be an excellent location in Los Olivos. A couple minute walk to a store and a mile away from restaurants and wine tasting in Los Olivos. It is on a horse farm with a lot of chickens around. Very pleasant surroundings and wonderful views of the surrounding hills.
We brought bikes and left the house each morning and quickly were on some enchanting rides through the wine country. Very convenient location and comfortable accommodations.
We noticed a couple of issues when we arrived and contacted the host. The response was immediate and exceeded our expectations. The opening note confirms the dishwasher does not work. I think the kitchen would be even more charming with it removed. My ratings are reflective not only of the location and condition of the property but in the responsiveness of our host.
Will look forward to a future visit.

….a quick 2 night getaway from the bustle and chaos of the holiday in LA. The lovely, quiet, charming above-the-barn apartment was just what I needed! Waking to the gentle clucking of the hens, the soft whinny of the horses was like music to my ears! Being able to immerse myself a bit in farm life was so fun! Location was perfect, I enjoyed my time just down the street in Los Olivos. Thank you again!

This was an absolutely terrific property. The apartment was even better than the photos -- and was stocked with eggs from the chickens on the farm, bacon, coffee, and lots of sparkling and regular water. Also, the kitchen has everything that any guest could need, including spices, all utensils, pots and pans. Perfect.
Best of all was being surrounded by corrals of horses! I think that there were 35 horses including 2 2-week old colts. It was so peaceful to wake up to see these beautiful animals.
The directions were perfect - as the GPS would send you to the locked gate. We were about a mile from town - easy drive or nice walk. The town is filled with wine tasting venues and restaurants.
IT is also about 10-12 minutes from Solvang, Buellton and Santa Ynez (our favorite for shopping and lunch).
I would definitely return as the stay was PERFECT>

There was a one week old foal and her mama in view from the 2nd story barn stay which made drinking morning coffee a lovely spectator event. I read the previous reviewer who were staying there when the mare foaled. What fun! Even though we came up for a 2 day wedding event, this location added wonderfully to our weekend stay. The farm animals and amibiance was rustic chic, we enjoyed our stay!

I booked this home due to its location. Was thinking it would be fun to stay on a ranch, but I had no idea how much fun and exciting. We were so lucky that a mare delivered her Foal while we were there! It was incredible to see the baby after about 12 hours. There was a 3 mon old foal too. We were allowed to pet the horses, (with instructions). There are chickens and goats and barn cats. If you love animals, this ranch is for you! The owners are wonderful, so engaging! The home was comfortable and definitely big enough for two couples. The home is also close to some amazing wineries and restaurants. So the trip was a win all the way around.

My partner and I stayed with his parents. Having two bathrooms, multiple tvs, abundant outdoor space, and good ac for his parents was more helpful than I could think. We had two anomalous one in a thousand repairs needed while staying and they were taken care of immediately, even at night. My in-laws captured Kevan in a convo about how he should have a better shower mat (to my horror—everything was fine) and when we left in the morn, it was replaced by afternoon. A lovely couple with an incredible ranch and the ability to see new baby animals and hear nature at night. Everyone with different needs and expectations were greatly satisfied upon leaving. I appreciate this host family and their property very much.

Loved everything about this. Enjoyed this charming place. Beautifully situated in a stunning and great location and HORSES! Chickens and cats too. What more could you ask for! And, the caretaker for the horses was so nice and friendly to us. Really appreciate everything about the stay.

Our friends were a little hesitant about staying above a barn but as soon as we got there we all knew it was going to be a great stay. The location is great. The horses and chickens right outside really added to the enjoyment of the stay. Our communication with Tiffany was great. She was very responsive and provided us extra eggs before we left. I would highly recommend staying here.

The place was lovely! And the eggs! How often do we get to have fresh eggs like this. Honestly we loved staying here. It was super close and convenient to Downtown Lis Olivos, the hosts were super friendly and all the horses were absolutely beautiful. Would highly recommend

Very comfortable and interesting place surrounded by horses. I'd be happy to return, even with another couple because the space is large enough to accommodate four.

We (two couples) thoroughly enjoyed our three-day stay at 'The Place above the Barn'! All of us found our bedrooms to be well-appointed and comfortable for sure, and the kitchen was more than adequate to accommodate our homemade breakfasts and evening hors d'oeuvres needs.
Please note that though we were a bit antsy about staying "above a barn", our fears were totally unfounded. The ranch property is well maintained and clean-smelling, and the horses and chickens are quiet for sure. Additionally, while the location is quite close to 'downtown' Los Olivos, but we felt like we were miles away. And as a bonus, the best grocery store in the area is just a five-minute walk from the bottom of the steps.
(Note that -- though the accommodations were very well cleaned -- we only gave it 4 stars because the living room walls could use a bit of freshening up.)

As other guests have already commented, this is a convenient VRBO from which to tour the Santa Ynez Valley. It is quite comfortable for two couples and is a 5 min. walk to Los Olivos Grocery and an easy 15 min. walk into Los Olivos center and its Kitchen Market, cafes, tasting rooms, and other businesses.
The apartment has comfy beds, good linens, plenty of bath towels, nice showers, and two sofas in the LR so two couples can visit comfortably. It is quiet as a cemetery at night, with no traffic noise and only the occasional whinny of a horse or cackle of a chicken. Unlike many places we've stayed, both beds have a nightstand on each side of the bed with a reading lamp.
This unit has a small but well-equipped kitchen in terms of dishes, pantry staples, pots and pans, and good knives and utensils. If you like to cook on vacation, this kitchen won't be the reason to go out for dinner. The separate dining room seats 4 with plenty of space.
The front porch, which is on the second story since this unit is over the barn, seats two couples comfortably, looks out over farm and ranch fields, and is a good place to watch sunset over a glass of wine.
Tiffany, the host, sent clear and detailed directions to the farm since navigator apps don't seem to be aware of a locked gate on Santa Ynez St.

This property is built over a barn, but is a very comfortable, immaculate home. We could see horses from every window, and enjoyed fresh eggs from the chickens. Although within walking distance of Los Olivos, we were situated between horse corals far into the distance. It was attractively decorated with high quality furniture and all the necessities. Tiffany was very responsive by email with any questions we had. We hope to return in the future.

Wonderful stay in an apartment atop a barn. Beautiful horses who love pets and scratches! Kittens who follow you around and rub against your legs! Chickens who lays colored eggs (well, brown, pale blue and pale green anyway) and the eggs are delicious! Great, welcoming hosts and beautiful views of the ranch and beyond!!

We had a wonderful time staying here! Tiffany and her family couldn’t be nicer and the space is just perfect for a weekend away in Los Olivos. We loved getting to see all their horses and chickens, the bed was very comfortable and the space had everything you could need. We’d love to stay here again!

We really enjoyed our stay on the ranch! Beautiful scenery & lovely accommodations. The apartment was really spacious & clean. We appreciated the fresh eggs from their chickens on the property. I also enjoyed the barn kitties that visited with us. We all thought it was a great experience & we definitely want to stay there again.

In planning our trip to Los Olivos to pickup wine club shipments, we ran into low availability and high prices for hotels, and even less availability on this and other home rental platforms. I was thrilled when I saw this option as we initially had another couple planning to join us. Last minute they had to back out so we were able to enjoy the property to ourselves. The host was extremely communicative from the time of booking and throughout our stay. Proximity to downtown Los Olivos was perfect. We arrived late Friday night and the only obstacle was getting to the location as typical mapping services take you to a locked gate. The host was super helpful in explaining the best way to navigate to their property, though it was still a little difficult in the pitch black of night. LO is also known for lack of cell service which made things a bit more difficult, but we ultimately found the property and were promptly greeted by a few of the working ranches roaming mousers (cats) who were eager for pets (I declined as I'm massively allergic). We got our stuff upstairs and settled in, finding farm-fresh eggs (as promised) and a number of other goodies in the fridge and pantry for us to use and snack on. I woke up early to 360-degree views of horses and foals, and the sounds of a typical working farm (clucking chickens, whinnying horses, etc) amongst the serenity of pin-drop quiet. With the weather actually feeling like Autumn/Fall, we turned off the air and just opened many of the windows for fresh air. I'd definitely stay again if the dates coincide - comfy beds, supplied toiletry necessities (if needed), and an overall great weekend getaway.

This was the perfect property for a relaxing couples’ getaway. Conveniently located in Los Olivos about a 20 minute walk from all the tasting rooms and only a short drive from Solvang. The living area is spacious for two couples and we loved the views from the windows overlooking the horse corrals and surrounding hills. Tiffany was an excellent host providing us with fresh eggs from their chickens, and the check-in / check-out process was so simple. We had a wonderful, relaxing time and would definitely recommend this property if you’re looking for a fun, wine-tasting filled getaway.

Very clean and comfortable upstairs unit. The cats entertained us constantly with their antics and the fresh eggs were a lovely touch! The host's husband and son spent time telling us about the animals and newborn kittens. At night we sat under the stars and enjoyed wine. Everything was perfect.
