MILLS RIVER:
Mills River is HOPping with breweries!
Sierra Nevada Brewery (8 min drive) is one of our favorite places. Anyone that comes to visit, it’s a must. They have an excellent menu and it’s just a really family friendly atmosphere. Often there is live music on a tiered, outdoor auditorium with games for kids and a garden you can walk through.
Mills River Brewery has a beautiful outdoor/dog-friendly seating area and a food truck always on site.
*Mills River Brewery, Bold Rock Cidery and Burning Blush Brewery are a stones throw from the house and can all be found within a one-mile radius.
ASHEVILLE:
20-30 minute drive gets you to Asheville. You can spend and entire day checking out the downtown. Asheville is a foodie town and has everything you could imagine! Most locations offer plant-based and gluten free options. One of our favorite spots is Sunny Point Cafenin West Asheville. *Hole donuts was recently rated the second best donut shop in the nation! If you are into breweries, almost all of them have outdoor seating and food trucks as well as outdoor games for kids. On a pretty day, New Belgium for example is perfect for a family stop. For indoor activities:
Asheville Science Museum
The Biltmore
Asheville trampoline center
The Grove Park Inn
* There are TONS of breweries in the area but Burial Forestry Camp stands our as one of our favorites. Most all breweries in the area have food trucks on site and offer NA options.
HENDERSONVILLE:
A 20 minute drive East takes you to the charming town of Hendersonville. *The BEST pizza in the area is Pie Squared, in Hendersonville on 191. (try The Tomato Pie)
Hit up the Elijah Craig Gem mine (on 64) for the kids. Once in the downtown area, the parking garage towards north Main Street will give you access to all the quaint shops and restaurants. Make sure to check out Mast General Store and Kilwins Chocolates. Shine and Postero (both on Main Street) are our front runners for a nice dinner.

BREVARD:
Super cute little town. 22 minutes south down 280. Easy enough to park right downtown and walk to all the sights. Blue Ridge Bakery is a must! With kids In tow, you can’t pass up the three story OP Taylor Toy store and then hit up Rocky’s local soda shop. For unique shopping, make sure to check out Mantiques and DDBullwinkles outdoor store. While the kids are still on a sugar high, grab some sandwiches to-go from Food Matters Cafe and head into Pisgah Forest to check out all our beautiful waterfalls.
Looking Glass falls is a short drive into the forest and has parking with a tiny walk down to the falls. For a full days adventure, rent a tube at the entrance of the forest and lazy River tube down the river or spend the day at Sliding Rock. If the weather is dreary, you can check out the Cradle of Forestry for kids entertainment in Pisgah. On a pretty day, the 25 minute drive up 276 from Brevard to the Blue Ridge is worth the spectacular view. If it’s supper time on the parkway, The Pisgah Inn has a stellar and fancy menu.

DuPont Forest is a must. It’s a 30 minute drive to Park at the High Falls access parking lot (with visitor center and bathrooms) and take the three-mile hike to three stunning waterfalls. You can spend an entire day hiking in DuPont but if you’ve got time to spare, head out to Sky Top Orchard or Jeter Mountain Farm. This property was just what we were looking for! Our stay was amazing and relaxing. We had zero issues, and the property manager was extremely responsive and accommodating. We will be back!

This riverfront home was one of the most relaxing homes we’ve ever rented. From the front porch to the interior to the back patios all are so inviting and comfortable. I only wish we could have stayed longer. We will definitely be back next year! Thank you Jennifer, you were a wonderful host!

We wanted a roomy place for our family to stay and relax near hiking and water. Delivered on all counts. A few hiccups during our stay that owner worked promptly worked to resolve.

Perfect spot for a relaxing getaway with my husband and our 10month old daughter! Beautiful home, and amazing outdoor property 30min from Asheville, waterfalls, hikes and surrounding towns. Will definitely be back!

We enjoyed staying here while exploring the Hendersonville/Brevard area. Jennifer was easy to get ahold of and the house was stocked with everything we needed. A big plus is we were able to bring our pups with us for the stay!
One thing to note, right on the other side of the river is a Summer Sleep-away Camp. So in June & July it’s not as peaceful and private due to the campers hanging in the river and their evening activities.

I’ve stayed in a lot of different VRBOs. So many do a decent job, well enough to cover the basics. This host has not missed a thing. The cookware was plentiful and in good shape. No chipped teflon. There were plenty of spices, a nice coffee/tea selection, s’mores set for the fire pit on the deck. They even included firewood. The furniture inside is all very comfortable and so well designed. My family members loved the available books about hiking the area. The sun room is cozy and inviting. The outdoor sectional on the covered deck was very relaxing. It’s really a very well done rental. I highly recommend it.

This place is awesome. There are deer in the front yard daily. Our kids loved watching them. The river is beautiful. The host was timely in response to a couple questions. The kitchen is very well stocked. Internet is spotty but we expected that. There are lots of dvds you can watch if streaming won’t work. Great spot!

The cottage was perfect! Can't beat the river view and let's be honest... we played in it too! Had everything we needed and more. The host was awesome as well. We will be back next year for camp dropoff! Bonus, you can hear the camp kids playing and it's adorable!

Prattville was a very comfortable property, well kept, clean and updated. The owners were quick to respond to questions, thoughtful in the housing amenities, and communicated information about the property well. The surrounding area is beautiful and a wonderful playground for outdoor enthusiasts!

Close to everything, but you still have privacy. It’s a beautiful place, quiet, close to nature and fun for all ages.

Had such a great time exploring Hendersonville, Brevard and Asheville. It was a little chilly to fully enjoy the outside space in the evenings, but so nice to sit and enjoy the views in the morning. Would highly recommend!

Our annual cousin getaway was most memorable with this home. It's everything as described and then some. Pictures don't really show how nice and peaceful it is. It's beautifully decorated and you have everything you need to have a comfortable, homey stay. We actually enjoyed staying and taking in the views of the river with the firepit and the sounds of nature. Beds were very comfortable, and we didn't have any problems with the wifi, as she stated sometimes was spotty. They give you everything you need to do a little smores roast and extra goodies in the kitchen so you don't have to buy all the little things like salt/pepper, oil, and so on. Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to get away from the hustle and bustle and relax in a relaxing home. Owner was always easy to contact and was most courteous with any issue we had.

This home was definitely our home away from home. Stayed with family for the Thanksgiving holiday and it was everything we wanted and more. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything we needed to cook a family feast, the owners had a wonderful basket of goodies for our arrival-which was such a nice touch. There is a keurig coffee maker and upon our request we also had a regular coffee maker. The owner is easily accessible and answers any and all questions right away. The outdoor backyard is just so wonderful with the fire pit ready to go. The sound of the river is so relaxing, we had the windows open with the crisp, cold air on Thanksgiving, and it was truly magical! Thank you for sharing this beautiful property.. it is a gem! you will not be disappointed.. :)) We will be back!

My two friends and I throughly enjoyed Jennifer’s house on the Mills River. Our favorite spot to hang out was the sunroom with a view of the river. Very relaxing.
My friends who both cook a lot were thrilled about the well stocked kitchen. The bedrooms were comfortable and since the weather was a bit chilly for our stay the gas logs in the fireplace in the living room were very much enjoyed.
We did several walks in the neighborhood with my friend’s beagle and found the area to be pleasant. We were lucky enough to see several white squirrels as well as hawks and other birds. My friend’s beagle was fascinated with the burros in one of the nearby yards.
We ventured out to Sierra Nevada Brewery and Taproom. The food there was great. If it had been warmer I think we would have enjoyed walking the trails on the 300+ acre site. We also enjoyed take out from Conosure , the local Latin American restaurant.
The nice touches in the house were the basket of snacks in the kitchen, and the dog bed, poop bags and doggie towel. Check in was easy and Jennifer was very prompt in replying to my questions.
We all look forward to another visit to Mills River. 🙂

Loved (!) the multiple outdoor seating areas to enjoy the rushing South Mills River. Furnishings presented as new and included everything we needed and more. <5 minutes to North Mills River recreation area for mountain biking / hiking and conveniently located equidistant from Pisgah, Dupont, and Asheville. It was great to spend the day on adventure and retire to the quiet retreat. Thank you for the hospitality; We will definitely want to stay here again!

Wow! Love this place.
Pictures do not do justice to how nice this property is in person. Love the décor and location. Super clean inside and out. Secluded cabin with river access with multiple porches and plenty of seating is perfect for a relaxing getaway. I enjoyed yoga on the porch listening to river; best way to start the day!
