Lovely hosts. Excellent bacon roll in the morning. Room very clean and comfy

Lovely house in a beautiful location alongside the Trent and Mersey Canal. Free parking and a comfortable room. Friendly welcome. A really good place to stay. Close to lots of places to eat and drink.
Unfortunately, Holden House doesn't offer breakfast (although there's the option of a fresh roll to take away). There's a bit of traffic noise from the main road - it's not that busy at night, but the cars and motorbikes that do come along tend to drive fast and loud. Still a very pleasant place to bed down.

exceptionally helpful & friendly staff
I liked it all , pretty location

Very warm welcome.

The breakfast roll was a good idea - there was nowhere to sit and eat apart from in bed so it will be better when there is a breakfast back on offer and somewhere to sit and eat.
There was no-where to sit - it would have been good to have a lounge area or a couple of chairs in the room - there would have been room.

As soon as we arrived we were struck by the quaintness of the property, located on the riverside with the canal and towpath just opposite. The cottage looks out over the river onto open fields and is very welcoming. It felt very homely yet stately at the same time. Andy and Anna were most welcoming informing us of the local amenities and we immediately felt at home.
Nothing bad to say about the property at all.

I was in the "petite room" which was spacious enough for me. The room had everything you needed. It was quiet and cosy. The house is beautifully decorated and everywhere was spotlessly clean.
There was nothing to dislike. The mattress was a little firmer than I am used to but that is personal preference and I still slept well.

The breakfast was excellent, brought to our bedroom door due to covid restrictions.
The location was brilliant, a short walk to plenty of pubs and a canal path on the doorstep.
Great to have free off street car parking.
Holden House itself is beautiful, lovely bedrooms and extremely clean.
Will definitely return.
Everything was excellent.

The room was clean and beautifully decorated and had a wonderful view of the canal. Our hosts were very welcoming and were able to recommend some wonderful places to eat at.

I had a lovely one night stay, the bed was comfortable and cleanliness was immaculate, a good supply of coffee & teas in the room and a couple of bottles of water... shower was a little stiff to turn on cold water, it was fiddly and very hot so be careful...but once sorted the shower was brilliant there were also luxury shower gels provided and hand gel at the basin.
Breakfast wasn't being served due to the covid situation...I'm guessing people would be sat too close. But bacon, sausage and egg cobs were offered delivered to your room. I had bacon, the only thing I would suggest is to get sachets of sauce on the side as it was done for me there was a little too much sauce I had to wipe off with the serviette in order to eat it, although it had 3 pieces of bacon in so was packed...
The price was a more than I would usually pay for one night...it may have been less if it was for two or more...I don't know.

The room was fabulous, beautifully presented and with a touch of luxury. The hosts were very friendly and the pub they recommended next door was excellent too.

The rooms were well appointed and very clean. The breakfast rolls brought to our room were delicious and the host was very helpful in posting back to me some items I had left which was much appreciated.

Spacious room with a very clean, newly fitted-out shower room - wow! Good in-room facilities. Cheery landlady!! Loved the fly screens which enabled the windows to be well open in a very warm spell of weather.
Our room (Room 4) was the closest of those in the house to the road and, though not a busy road, even light traffic on a warm night with the windows open can disturb your sleep.

No breakfast. Over priced cob

We only stopped for1 night but enjoyed our stay and even found a torch in our room in case of a power cut now nobody I have ever stopped with has thought of that one
My wife is only small and could only see her head in the bathroom mirror but I can state that this will be remedied soon as nobody had ever mentioned it before

Holden House was everything we wished for. Clean, comfortable and very stylishly decorated. The property is located overlooking the river Trent and close to a number of great places to eat and drink. Great base for walking along the canal and the river. Plenty of parking. The owners were so friendly and couldn’t do enough for you. Definitely the best B&B we have ever stayed in. We will be back.
