Great stay, the initial room we was given wasn’t very good. We told reception our concerns and they quickly gave us a different room that was much better. Stunning hotel in great location!

The hotel building is lovely and locations good. However hotel staff were unwelcoming.

Nice Friday night break in Manchester, the Hotel was nice and comfortable with lovely festive decorations.

Checked in and instead of upgrading me they down graded to a small bed
Then when I tried to call reception to ask to be changed it took them a long while to answer.
Only to be told we are very busy.
I was offered a king size bed and there was only one available on the mezzanine floor
Which I was told I have no choice as even though I’m a gold member they won’t give me a higher category.
The noise of people partying was so loud till 2am and the tram tracks where outside the room so loud that I didn’t even get a minutes sleep

Waited two hours for room derive after being told it would be half a hr was 10pm before we ate not on at all

Overall excellent. Clean and comfy room, great service.
Drawbacks - breakfast is certainly not worth £18 per day. No better than what you’d get a Premier Inn.
Musty/damp smell in the room.

The state at the Midland was enjoyable and majority of staff were exceptional, and Service was very good. We were only let down by the fact that we had to constantly remind people to refresh the towels and clean the room despite leaving out the appropriate sign.

We had a brilliant time at the hotel, staying in their gorgeous suite. It was comfortable, elegant and made us feel very special. And speaking of special, the staff there were wonderful as well, helping us however they could.

Really expensive hotel, beautiful lobby but the room on the 6th floor was bad.
Had to go five times down to the lobby because the key didnt work.
Was a really bad smell in the room, like someone had peed on the floor.

Overall I thought the hotel was quite underwhelming. The room was fine but on the smaller side. There was no robe on offer which I would have expected and the room service menu was quite basic. The floorboards are very creaky and I could hear people moving around in the room above and to the side of me quite loudly. I checked in late but a party that was going on in the bar was spilling over into reception which made it difficult to interact with the receptionist (absolutely not his fault). The spa was pleasant and the gym was ok but again, I would have expected more.

the bathroom had unsafe broken tiles. Shower was poor.
Breakfast was Poor - Cooked Breakfast - bacon was cold and very tuff to eat, No chef to cook eggs to order. My food and drinks were cleared off my table before I was finised whilst I was getting a drink !

Great breakfast and lovely bar

Room wasn’t ready until 4.15 did give complimentary drinks but didn’t inform cocktails weren’t included.
Room was nice although twin beds very close to one another, could do with at least a side table.
The room above us was playing loud music and sounded like a party going on, did ring reception twice and it did stop eventually, offered a discount on check out but not sure if I have received as they said it was going through booking agent.

Fantastic check in. The young lady was very welcoming and I felt as though she was really interested in making my stay in Manchester amazing. Great work!

Grand Hotel immaculate cheerful helpful front desk staff bed and bath ample in size and comfort. Location across from parking garage .

Stayed for our Company's Charity Ball. I particularly loved how friendly the front desk and waiting staff were.

Lovely hotel, great location

Excellent hotel but be sure to ask for a room with working air conditioning. Stayed at hotel few times and a lot of the rooms don’t have working air conditions. I think it is because they are upgrading the AC system but they do have rooms with AC that work

I stay in a lot of hotels, so these comments are based on experience and preference.
1. The lighting is awful in the room and in the bathroom.
2. I went to reception to request decaf coffee pods, which they said housekeeping would bring to the room but they never arrived.
Otherwise a good experience with sockets both sides of the bed and a powerful shower.

The room was worn, with the carpet lifting in multiple areas. The bed and pillows were really uncomfortable. We called reception to ask for replacement pillows, which were delivered to our room but they were no better than the others and were still very uncomfortable. The curtains also didn’t cover the window effectively so there was a bright beam of light in the room through the night. We told guest services about our experience and they just thanked us for the stay, we didn’t get the impression that they would do much with the feedback. The lobby and entrance are all stunning but the quality drastically drops when you get to the rooms it definitely shouldn’t be considered to still be a luxury hotel!

Beautiful hotel and very attentive staff. The lighting in the bedroom was really bad though, really hard to do makeup as there’s barely any light. Breakfast was really nice but the coffee does need improvement

The hotel was fine, comfortable room and easy check-in. Only problem was when checking in I asked if they had anywhere we could grab some food as we had been travelling for 5 hours. The receptionist said of course we have some stuff on the menu that’s available through room service 24 hours per day. We called them numerous times when we got to the room and there was no answer. I called reception and they said they’d get someone to call us. We waited for 45mins and no one called back. Complained in the morning but they didn't seem bothered.

Great choice for a full service, landmark hotel with character. Our room was enormous with wonderful high ceilings and very quiet. The hotel opened in 1903 so there are naturally a few signs of its age but the rooms and spaces are attentively cared for. Its central location makes everything in walking distance, especially the pedestrian areas of Manchester.
The staff were unfailingly helpful and positive. We stayed 3 nights and took full advantage of the large lobby lounge and bar which served coffee/lunch/tea/drinks, dinner. An excellent value for our experience.

A few issues with things broken around the room or hanging off wall / skirting.
Overall a comfortable stay

Very helpful, friendly staff everywhere. Special mention for Anna on Reception, and Ricardo - thank you.
Cleanliness excellent.
Bar service excellent.
Breakfast - disappointingly average. As with most buffet breakfasts, the food in never really hot. And please - you cannot make decent tea without boiling-hot water.
Comfy bed but pillows way too small - super-king bed needs super-king pillows.
No instructions in room for air-con. operation.

Luxury Hotel but the customer service experience from multiple members of staff was more Ryanair. So it must come from the top. They are a hotel who nickel and dime you for everything.

Exceptional spa break for couples highly recommend for a relaxing trip with high quality standards.

Came for pride. Great hotel, good location and lovely friendly staff.
Breakfast and Bar very good with excellent service. I loved the smell of the place so brought a midland candle .

Hotel is beautiful. Felt we got a rubbish room which was pokey and dated, looking at other rooms these seemed much better than ours and it smelt damp. No different to the other branded hotels nearby. The car park is a fair walk also.

Another great stay at The Midland Hotel.
Friendly welcome from the staff, hassle-free check-in and check-out, had a great stay.
The only negative are the smokers who congregate outside of front doors, not pleasant to walk through as a non-smoker.

A lovely hotel, with very friendly and helpful staff. An impressive front entrance and downstairs area. The spa is well equipped and clean. The rooms are comfortable and a decent size. Overall the hotel is definitely one that I will stay in again.
