Overall, we had a great stay at the Graduate; room was comfortable, everything was clean, and the staff were friendly. Only thing was I wish we knew there was not complimentary parking on-site (and for $34 overnight valet, we opted for a cheaper parking garage nearby). If I would have known that parking was not available for guests on-site, I would not have stayed here.

The staff was very friendly and helpful during my stay. The room was decent with a great view.

Location
4.0
I recently stayed at the Graduate Hotel and found the decor to be quite nice, and the location was perfect for exploring the area. However, the room was very small, and the bed was both uncomfortable and undersized. Unfortunately, there was no tea or espresso machine in the room, which was disappointing. The gym was also very small with limited facilities. Overall, while the aesthetics and location were great, the lack of comfort and amenities made the stay less enjoyable.

Great location

Great location by the university, 2 blocks from lake front, one block from state street. Ambience is cute, cafe in lobby and bar restaurant at top. Destination fee of $15 plus valet of $34 and other taxes added to the price significantly. Convenient location for dogs, as close to lake and lake front trail. Overall,, happy with stay.

The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The bed in our first room was not comfortable and the hotel was accommodating and moved us to a new room. The bed in the new room was more comfortable. Easy walking distance to The terrace, restaurants, campus and the capital.

The room was nice and quiet. The air conditioning worked very well. The decor is fun. The bedding was new and comfy.
The shower and sink need a facelift. The caulking needs a refresh.

A little quirky place with a nice vibe. It’s not a luxury hotel but comfortable enough for a brief stay and in a good location foe exploring Madison.

The hotel has a great vibe with its retro-chic decor and stylish furnishings. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, making me feel right at home from the moment I arrived. The room was comfortable, clean, and well-appointed, with all the amenities I needed. The location is also fantastic, right in the heart of downtown Madison, with easy access to all the attractions and restaurants. I especially enjoyed the morning walk by the Lake Mendota. Additionally, as a platinum member, I received a generous discount on my stay, which was a fantastic bonus.

Did not like the idea of valet parking. Way too expensive for the stay. Added $106 to the two day stay. Ridiculous.

Very helpful and friendly staff. The building and rooms aren’t perfect but make up for it with a boutique-y feel and exceptional location.

Proximity to University

It’s a reinvented very old hotel. Dark, narrow halls, tiny bathrooms, tiny elevators and slow valet parking. Very over priced

This hotel was conveniently located to state Street and the capital building. It was very quiet and comfortable for a couples stay.
We were disappointed there was no coffee or limited breakfast available, considering the price of the room.

Super convenient location to UW campus. Friendly staff and warm environment.

Modern. Relatively cheap. Staff was super friendly and helpful. I really loved the "college dorm" feel of the room -- and not an actual college dorm, more like what movies portray college dorms as.
Didn't much appreciate the gay pride stuff around -- but it's Madison.

Loved the property and on site coffee shop, bar and restaurant - great view of the lake! It was wonderful to be so close to the late and walking trail that went for miles. That was an unexpected treat! The Graduate is kinda in the heart of campus and just a few blocks away from the main action - but one wouldn’t know it! Would totally stay here again on my next trip to Madison. Location was perfect for my trip to the U of W Vet hospital. In the other direction was the Capitol and all of its splendor. A great mix of nature and everything from this hotel!

The hotel has a cute up north cabin look. We like the vibe of the hotel and had stayed here like 4 times before. Al thought this time the hotel was super stuffy and hot in our room. Our thermostat read 76 degrees and it was super stuffy which made it very uncomfortable to sleep. We had 4 other families with us that each had rooms and everyone’s room experienced the same issue. Two of them spoke to the front desk and they said the air conditioning system wasn’t turned on yet for the season. It was 76 degrees outside and rainy and very humid this weekend so I would expect the air to be able to be functioning in order for guests to be comfortable. Very frustrating considering the price we paid for our rooms. I felt bad that I suggested that we all stay there since no one got a good night sleep. We were all disappointed and likely will not stay there again.

We stayed here for a college visit. Right in the thick of things. Valet parking made finding a spot in this concrete jungle easy.

Disappointing to find the Graduate in much need of updates. Room was so-so. Very few amenities. Parking garage not working. Cafe closed for a holiday.
Renovation is due or overdue.
