Food was delicious, room was really cosy and comfortable. Such quiet surroundings with the most beautiful views. All the staff were so friendly. Wonderful

Really lovey hotel with helpful staff, only stayed one night for business but i would definitely be back with the family :)

Such a beautiful place. Food really nice but bar maths are small and restaurant is Taster or Dinner menu so expect A la Carte cusine at a premium. Exceptional service in a beautiful setting. Would we go again. 100%.

We chose to stay as hotel is dog friendly. Room was spacious and there are lots of trails through the woods for walking our four legged friends.

The hotel is in a great location over looking the Three Counties Showground.
Room was comfortable, decor was quite dark with midnight blue paint all round the room.
We and others over the two days had to contend with a party of 12-14 people (of a certain age) at Breakfast who were very loud and would not stop talking over each other, even when eating, which spoilt it for those who wanted a quieter experience with other hotel residents who were sat in the breakfast room. This also happened with the evening meal where most of the tables were put together limiting others the opportunity to sit and have a quieter meal with their loved ones.
Other than the entitled people noted above the hotel was a great experience and would venture back but will check to see if there were big parties of people staying.

Patio had no fence and not safe for dogs or children and was not clean.could of had more water and tea and coffee . Shower had no part that you can wash your body with just fixed shower not good when trying to wash and get soap off .

Location and view is amazing and the food at dinner excellent. I understand why some people have complained about the lack of choice as it is either 3 courses or testing menu so if you only wanted 2 courses tough. But the 3 courses we ate were delicious.
We were late booking a room for a Saturday night and got the last room, No:36, which does not have the amazing views, it is looking at the cliff wall and car park, so it's dark and gloomy, made more so by the very odd and poor lightning.
Given the price the room is sparsely provisioned: no coffee machine just instant, no dressing gowns, no slippers.
And the sink is chipped and cracked, and there is a strange tapping noise when other rooms are running their taps.
They have tried to update the room but haven't quite finished, i.e. mismatched piece of brown furniture in amongst the newer 'Ikia' style items.
On the outside the whole place looks tired. It needs a full refresh: flower beds need weeding, the buildings all need painting (looking like they had that damp green and black mold growing on the walls), gutters blocked with plants growing in them etc.

Chef could not handle my no salt soft diet. My wife had to forget about her low salt diet. We were disappointed with the menu, which I found impossible to read because I am red green colour blind. The hotel appeared to not understand what is colour blindness.
We shall book again as we have done before. But we will not eat in the evening. This is the second time that we have had issues with the food.

Amazing staff, great place, will go back again

Surprised to find the Cottage in the Wood far from a cottage but wasn’t disappointed. The dwellings spread over three buildings with the restaurant and small bar area situated with the main reception. Due to the time of year and the weather we were unable to take in what would have been spectacular views. The room was lovely a cosy, clean with comfortable decor. The highlight of our stay was our fantastic taster menu on our first night. Fantastic cuisine and luckily you don’t have to stay there to dine there! We will definitely return in the summer months to experience the views and the surrounding area in better weather.

Lovely stay at this hotel with views across the Malvern Hills. Food was fantastic the chef really deserves his awards.

Great place and great people with an atmosphere which is steeped in history and charm, we had a great stay.

Restaurant a little expensive. Limited choice.

Great

I made this booking then had to ring to make an amendment - the staff couldn’t have been more helpful. When we arrived I was amazed by the view and thought he location of the hotel. The whole experience was first class - definitely worth the visit
4.4
As expected the stay was excellent if pricey, but as they say you get what you pay for.

The property is on very good location but thats the only postive, the rooms are bit out dated and full of old dirty marks on the rugs and all the windows was covered with spiderwebs and dirt.
The receptionist was not very helpful.

Booked for my daughter for her friends wedding. Her summary- “ poor service; dirty rooms; not value for money “.
It sounds like simple things that could be avoided given more attention to detail, a shame as its location is great.
Perhaps the reviews on other sites will highlight the issues more so and allow the owners to deal with things

Wonderful views. Lovely staff. Good facilities. Nice food. Full English breakfast about half the size of a usual one. Not much to do in the area but that is also a plus if you are looking for peace and quiet. A few areas need a bit of maintenance and the floors are very creaky when people walk on them. However, it is a lovely hotel with fantastic views and lovely staff.

Hotel and staff were brilliant and the food amazing.
Only criticism was lack of view and the bath being so high to get in and out, and we are tall. But apart from that really lovely and will go back again.

Generally ok/average but the hotel looked more "tired' than I was expecting for its renowned quality. Needs some physical sprucing up, lick of paint etc. Our room (10) was small (just OK) but nowhere to store anything other than to hang some things. Why have bedside tables that are solid blocks of wood (no storage possibility even there)? Also, I felt that the staff were more trained to make sure clients pay (first salutation in the morning at breakfast was "room number?") and being told that the £4.50 charge for some nuts at cocktails "can only be one selection from one of these jars", a sort of rationing scenario. It would only take a bit of further training NOT to focus on PAYMENT and to make the hotel feel more genuinely friendly. Otherwise it was OK.

Beautiful surroundings lovely place to chill out with great views, fabulous food in the evening and perfect breakfast with real tea ☕️

Big clean room with a lovely wide view. Comfortable bed. Hot water in the bathroom and fresh towels. Tea and coffee.
Didn’t need the ‘eco-toiletries’ and not tempted to take the bottles.
The restaurant was busy so I was asked to choose an available time slot for my evening meal and as I was planning a walk took the 9pm. Maybe a bt late but mine was a late booking so I was happy to accept what was available. The staff were friendly and there was a cheerful atmosphere. Always awkward when you’re on your own in a silent restaurant so it was nice to have the buzz of gentle conversation in the background. I think the only option was to choose from the three course menu and as various rounds of bread, nibbles and tasty appetisers arrived I skipped the starter. The main course was tasty and sufficient and the sweet very prettily arranged. The chef obviously used to good fresh ingredients and prepared to take time with small details. I think the restaurant must be a ‘destination’ rather than just for hotel guests, hence the busyness. It was a very nice meal.
Breakfast, again very nice food - not quite sure whether I was ‘allowed’ extra tea/coffee/toast etc as well as a cooked breakfast, but that was ok. I was not starving by any means.
Paying the bill was interesting. The evening meal being a little eye watering in fact. But, it was my choice to eat in and the food was good. Had I known, I might had made my own arrangements though.

Very clean rooms and stunning views. It is not made very clear that most of the rooms are in a seperate building 150 mt from the restaurant and bar area. Not a big deal but would have been nice to know. I thought the very limited menu at £55.00 a head for 3 courses was a little pricey.

Fantastic getaway with a lovely walk behind the property
4.4
Beautiful position. Food delicious but overpriced. I didn't like the fact that there was a door banging every few seconds throughout the day until 23.30. I could even hear it with earplugs in! Also, the lighting system in the room made it very difficult to work the lights. This is not a suitable hotel for disabled people due to uneven floor surface, steps in unexpected places and no warning signage

What an amazing location!!
The steep drive up the hill was totally worth it. The view from our room was amazing.
The other surprise was the restaurant. The tasting menu offered excellent value for the quality of food provided.
4.4
a wonderful hotel with amazing views. Definitely worth a visit

Amazing views lovely spot. Really spacious well equipped rooms. Lovely breakfast friendly staff. Would definitely stay here again and recommend to others. Literally could not fault a thing. Thank you for having us.

What a beautiful place to stay! It felt really relaxed and welcoming, and the staff are lovely.
Our room was comfortable and clean, and the bed very comfy. The only gripe we have is the wait for breakfast was an hour, and when we enquired as to when it would arrive were met with defensiveness from staff. My veggie full English was delicious, however my partner’s smoked salmon with scrambled eggs and toast wasn’t up to the standard we expected - the salmon was cooked, as though it had been sat under a heater for a long while.
Other than this, we had a fabulous time and would definitely stay again. One bad breakfast service doesn’t take away from the wonderful hotel and surroundings, we all have bad days after all!

Had a fantastic stay and would definitelyt recommend, amazing views. Will definitely be back

We took a mid-week break in the Malverns and stayed here for two nights.
The room was a reasonable size with a comfortable, king sized, bed with luxurious duvet and pillows. The bathroom was large with a walk-in shower with rain-head fitting.
TV and tea and coffee facilities, with home made biscuits, completed the room.
The hotel bar and restaurant were great. There was a choice of three course, or six course tasting menu. With an extensive wine list this provided a fine dining experience with views out of the large picture windows.
Breakfast offered plentiful choice and was table service rather than a buffet. Again the food quality was top notch.
Highly recommended and we shall return.

Very nice feel to the hotel. Decor, fixtures and fittings were interesting and to a high standard.
Staff were efficient and friendly. Location for walking was excellent. Upgraded our room to get a better view which was worth it.
Breakfast was very good with generous quantities.
Dinner was the only disappointment and wouldn't book again. It was expensive but in substantial. I had the pork main course and I was given a few miserly pieces of pork. We were filled up with homemade bread but not good at £50 each.
4.4
Wonderful hotel. Staff were great. We arrived late, after room service had finished, but they were able to still make us some dinner which was delicious. It was the same for breakfast they were able to accommodate our request despite restaurant being full. Our room was lovely with stunning views over the valley. Couldn’t have asked for more.

It was our second visit to the hotel , we had a relaxing and very enjoyable stay . The food was amazing the staff extremely friendly and helpful . We will no doubt be going again in the future .
4.4
We spent a wonderful night at the Hotel. The only hiccup, which wasn't the Hotel's fault, was that we sent a message, via our booking agent, Hotels.com, in response to the Hotel's email regarding an evening meal reservation. Our request failed to reach the Hotel but the staff managed to fit us in, after being told they were fully booked so thankfully all worked out well.

Outstanding views match by excellent friendly service from this independent hotel set on the side of the Malvern Hills. Rooms are a nice size and very well presented. Definitely worth the money. We will return when in the area.
4.4
Great setting with the view, rooms and food. Staff were friendly and the rooms/food were good quality with nice bedding, mini fridge, large bathroom etc.
Only issue is the wasps - the outside tables and restaurant (when doors left open at breakfast) after affected by them. We had the same issue in August 2020.

The hotel is in a beautiful setting with lovely views. The Bar and Restaurant are excellent although service is slow. Our attic room in the Coach House was unbearably hot which led to two nights of little or no sleep. The Attic rooms are significantly hotter than the lower floors and really do need air conditioning given the prices charged by the hotel. Our concern about the heat were not taken seriously by the reception staff. Would not stay here again
