The hotel is on a lake but all the doors to go out back to the lake are locked. The hotel doesn’t use the back with the views of the lake at all. Our room overlooked a roof and with no AC was so hot every night and during the day you couldn’t stand to be in the room for more than a few minutes. We stayed here in July 2024.

Wonderful property at a great location. You just need to know that the majority of guests is 65

The front desk was so EXTREMELY patient and kind to us. They were very accomadating and understanding to our language barrier. An exceptionally thoughtful young man assisted us part way to get our bus in the rain. Without his help not sure if we would have made our connections. Front desk and your man (possibly Asian) went above and beyond. Highly recommend…!

Staff is very friendly. Spa is fantastic. Restaurant is terrific; breakfast is wonderful though dinner could have more menu options. Our patio faced the dumpsters and the area where employees took their smoke break, but we didn’t realize it until we had unpacked. Disappointing given the price of the rooms. Maybe the employees should go off site to smoke? That was more unpleasant than the dumpsters.

Staff was very friendly. Check out the wine room next to the bar for self pours of various varietals.

Marketed as a relaxing Alpine getaway but did not deliver. Great view, nice room and good food but without access to the health services a total waste of money.

The reception staff was very friendly when we arrived. I tried (struggled) to speak German to check in and he was kind enough to speak English without a pause. The breakfast buffet was great and the views were incredible. I wish I had more time to spend at the bar (it was hopping when we arrived!) and the spa amenities. Just outside of Fuessen but not too far from downtown (not walking distance though). Short drive to the castles

Beautiful and staff was outstanding. Room was great and comfy.

Unless you're going there for spa needs it is not going to be a pleasant stay. We got a room with backyard but so did evrry other room and there so much smoking going on that we could hardly open our backyard door for few mins. Breakfast was amazing with countless options. If you're planning for just an overnight stay there are many less expensive and comfortable options in Fussen or even near the castle.

We spend only one night in the hotel. Everything was obsoletely wonderful from check in to dinner and later in the pool and spa. Hotel is in the great location and very accommodating. We wish to come back one more time. We would like to recommend this place for all travelers.

The value for the money was not there. The bathroom was very small. The hallways were dark and had a funny flooring. This was our most expensive hotel on our trip and the least favorite.

1. The room is great. Just need to be careful when you dine in the restaurant. Your server may add some more dishes to the bill that you didn’t order. We don’t understand German, we almost pay for 36 eur more to the bill that we didn’t order at all. Also, the server is not being patient when we try to order food.
2. When we were checking out the room, the front desk asked me if I have credit cards other than American Express. I asked the front desk staff if the hotel doesn’t accept American Express as payment, they said “Yes”. As I told them I don’t have any other credit cards than American Express. They just swiped my American Express credit card and the credit card went through!! I’m not sure why they were lying about this, but apparently they do take American Express, they just don’t want to.
Overall, other than the restaurant experience and the credit card issue, the hotel experience is alright. At least the room is very nice and clean.

Stayed this nightmare hotel with my family.
We wake up because of construction (drill etc.) 8 in the morning right in front of our room.
They open the door and stepped in our room while we are out for breakfast at hotel restaurant.
They were at our room when we comes back and told us the sign was "Please clean the room" so they stepped in and was doing construction in our room.
This is non-sense.
We travelling around the our and never put "clean the room when we go out. especially, this hotel sign is red and green, so easy to recognize. I am an auditor for long time never mistake for this thing.
Anyway,
'1. Check out is 1030, Do I need to ask them to clean the room ? one hour before check out ?
2. Even if it was "Clean the room", Construction and cleaning is same of think at this hotel ?
Further more, I claimed this situation at front desk but, they do not listen my word and they just protect what contractor told them. Front desk staff threw invoice to me and said "bye bye !"
This is the way of think of this hotel. They can do anything and tell "sign was please clean the room", it is so scare.

Lovely hotel overall - location by the lake, big rooms with a local style, clean and well serviced. Breakfast buffet was also very good and it was nice to have a view of the mountains.

My family and I enjoyed a wonderful experience at Hotel Sommer. The resort was well maintained and beautifully situated at the base of the Bavarian Alps. The hotel and restaurant staffs were friendly, knowledgeable of the area and attractions, and always willing to assist us. The hotel is within walking distance to Fussen, a 5 minute ride to the castles, and 30 minutes from the Zugspitz.

I like the area that the hotel was located in. It was peaceful with great views of the mountains and the lakes Its very near to the city center as long as you drive. The included breakfast was of exceptional quality

The location is very quite, viewing the Neuswanstein from a distance around 5km. Great access by bike. It would be great to be here in the summer with the lake filled with water. Sauna and pools are great.

Was really looking forward to a relaxing stay from Frankfurt. We arrived at the hotel before 9pm and was greeted by a very non-friendly receptionist (blond-haired woman). I asked if the restaurant was still open and she told us we better hurry up or forget about eating. Was unfriendly and unpleasant. We were surprised by the treatment at a 4-star property that praises themselves on service. The first night was extremely uncomfortable and the beds were horrible. You could feel the mattress springs. The following morning, we waited in line to the front desk to ask for directions. While we were waiting in line, we watched how the front desk staff interacted with other hotel guests (mainly, if not all "white"). They were laughing and most importantly very pleasant. All were sent away with bottles of water for their adventures for the day. When it was our turn, we were asked if we had our own map. Strange. Luckily we had one. Told where to go...how ironic. It was short, unfriendly, and quick to the point. We were made to feel as though we had some kind of disease... That evening, I approached the front desk lady (same blond-haired woman) and inquired about a knapsack I was interested in. She was very rude, told me to come back in the morning and said that knapsack was for a child! "It won't fit you ma'am". It just got progressively worst at check-out. Labelled us as ppl from China when we were not based on the color of our skin. Racist.

we felt marginalized that we were Asians in the hotel by 3 incidents:-1) during breakfast (2 mornings), our plates were not cleared despite all other tables receiving better service than us (serving staff was chatting and clearing all other tables except ours)2) we asked the serving staff to check if our room was under half - board before deciding to have our dinner. With the staffs confirmation that our room was half - board, we dined both nights at the restaurant only to be shocked by the check out bill3) when we checked out, we indicated our country as Singapore yet the bill indicated the city as Singapore and country as ChinaOverall, food at the restaurant was bad and the check in and check out staff were not kind to us, giving us impatient glances and unwillingness to service us. Even though we informed the front desk during check out that the restaurant confirmed that our room was half board and we shouldnt be charged our dinner meals, she did nothing to verify but a shrug of the shoulder and im sorry for that.

Everyone was very friendly and spoke different languages. The free breakfast in the morning was superior and the staff were always willing to provide tips for the town, historical sites, activities or other dinning options. The location was perfect - right on the lake and plenty of outdoor activities- bike riding, boating, ship tours, trails, swimming - right on your doorstep! The views and peacefulness were awesome and our teenaged children enjoyed their stay as well.

We went there with high expectation because of the comparatively high room rate, but as a result we had a very bad experience. When checked in, it seemed that they didnt have our record of booking and asked us if we booked through travel agent, then I guess they gave us the worst room of all. The room was dark, smaller than standard(from fire escape map), definitely no view and even facing roof top. Bathroom was outdated too.In the morning, we two were told that breakfast area was free seating but there were lots of people and we had difficulties finding a table. Ultimately we find a table for four available but the short black hair lady was very rude to ask us to find another table by ourselves. We were shocked that this kind of bad service was provided by the hotel!Hotel provides spa service, there is a small outdoor and an indoor swimming pool. I think that is the only plus side of this hotel if you consider those facilitiesare must.

On a lake about two miles from Neuschwanstein. Beautiful, kind of a German summer camp sort of a vibe.

The location of the hotel was easy to get to (even though we had read other reviews saying it was hard to find) and set in beautiful location (even though the lake was empty for this time of the year). The staff were exceptional and their enthuiasm was a pleasure. They were helpful in ensuring we understood their facilities and town surroundings. Even providing additional maps when we requested info on how to get to Lech Falls.
Breakfast was included in the room rate, which was a bonus - as the breakfast had plenty of choice, very fresh and great variety - which also catered for our western/Aussie food tastes too.
We were most looking forward to our first European sauna experience - Yes, textile free. The staff explained the ettiquette and there is plenty of signage as to how to get the most out of your experience.
The downfall was that the textile free ettiquette was not strictly enforced.
The views of the Alps and the castles is fantastic - and overall a very relaxing and peaceful experience.
