The staff was friendly. The room was beautiful. The views were amazing.

The service of this hotel is not up to standard. I booked the hotel for two days, for unknown reasons after one day we were asked to move to another room. Because of the lack of staff, it takes a long time to check in. When approaching the hotel in rainy weather no one comes out with an umbrella. In general, the hotel does not reach the stated level.

We loved everything about our stay!
Wonderful staff and service!
Views were spectacular!
Would highly recommend!

Hotel nice but expensive

Exceptional rework of historic fortress. Arched ceiling and sitting couch on enclosed balcony overlooking the sea is a totally unique feature. If you want elegance and quiet solitude this is the place!

We were so lucky to be upgraded to a beautiful room with a balcony and incredible views of the pounding waves of the Guincho beaches. We arrived from the airport just too late for the dining room but the staff were so kind and welcoming and the chef made us a plate of cheese and nibbles which was perfect. Our first room downstairs was quite dark with a very small window and distant view of the sea and it was a little noisy, being directly on the main reception area, but the beds were comfortable and the service was impeccable and as mentioned we were lucky to move to a great room on the first floor. The bar restaurant has delicious food and there is a good selection of local wines and also cocktails. No pool and the beaches were too rough for swimming but you can pay a fee to use the sheltered pool in the next door hotel - the best of both worlds.

The customer service at this place is top notch! It’s very clean and the main areas that you can sit and have a drink or visit is beautiful! This place isn’t walking distance from the town but it’s a quick taxi ride. I highly recommend this place.

It was delightful in every sense as usual.
The refurbishments were terrific

One of my fave places - this is my 4th time there - will be going back again.
2.5
Unique setting and experience. Not cheap but worth it for our one night in the area. Nice sized room with lots of complimentary drinks and snacks. Our view was pretty but you had to look out over the HVAC array, which detracted a bit from the beach and mountains (probably the only con we could think of). We ate at the hotel restaurant and had a wonderful meal well worth the price. Also a nice breakfast. The cliffs and beaches are nice to walk around but not much else in the immediate area.

Loved this hotel which lived up to it’s Relais & Châteaux membership. We were given an upgrade, looking out on to the beach. Delicious dinner on the terrace and breakfast in the restaurant. Made to feel so welcome.

This has got to be one of the best hotels we’ve stayed at. The views are incredible, the breakfast buffet is amazing and most of all the staff are one of the nicest people you’ll meet. They go above and beyond to make sure you’re well taken care of. Truly a 5 star experience and we’ll be sure to come back here in the future without a doubt.

This place was a dream! We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful location right on the beach with crashing waves. The staff was so friendly and accommodating. We liked it so much we stayed an additional night. Fortunately they had a vacancy. I would recommend this to all

This property was a paradise. It was set apart from downtown, in between two incredibly beautiful beaches! The staff was so accommodating, always ready to help us. The food was wonderful!
We would definitely go back!

Perfect place to stay. Delicious food, excellent service, scenic breathtaking views.

Breakfast was good, but not overwhelming. Breakfast service did not include any vegetables, which was dissapointment. However, nice views (to the sea) for the breakfast room did fix the dissapointment quick.
Excellent food with reasonable prices offered in the bar. Service was top notch.
We did not dine in the main restaurant, as it was fully booked on our arrival, and closed on Sun/Mon. My suggestion is to book dinner well in advance. Other good restaurants in walking distance. Good example is Porto Santa Maria.
Our room was on the 1st floor. Room was OK and surprisingly quiet, although entrance from main count yard.
Staff was very friendly and helpful.

Spectacular setting and a lovely room overlooking the ocean. Staff was very professional and attentive. My only comment would be that they should have a pool as the public beach is very windy and the hotel does not have it's own beach

This hotel has spectacular ocean views. It is at the highest end of luxury, good service and quality. I cannot recommend it highly enough. It deserves 6 stars.

I liked the setting, attention to detail, room quality, staff helpfulness, michelin restaurant.
The air conditioning repair noise during the day, but I don’t know how you avoid that if the work needs to be done.
Stay was exceptional, best of a two week trip.

Great view, outstanding service, unforgettable dining experience at the Michelin star hotel restaurant made our family vacation memorable. The mattresses in our rooms were not comfortable.

This historic and majestic hotel stands on the coast of Cascais, Portugal. It's elegantly decorated with comfortable rooms. The hotel is in between two gorgeous white sand beaches and is a short ride to the quaint city of Cascais, which has great restaurants, shopping and a jazz club. The downside is that the hotel's WiFi is weak and inconsistent.

Amazing hotel overlooking the ocean! Great dining and excellent service. Highly recommend!

Property was set in a beautiful location but unfortunately it is quite remote. There is a bus service but would definitely recommend a car to see the area & explore

Staff was phenomenal & superb with customer service! Extremely helpful & kind. Not a single issue with our room. Views are all AMAZING! Provided everything we needed and items that we didn’t ask above and beyond!

The staff was so friendly and accommodating! The beaches on both sides of the hotel were lovely. Really enjoyed the dune walk across the street and taking the complimentary bikes on the bike path. Fantastic food, bountiful included breakfast, interesting architecture (former 17th century fortress), helpful concierge, gorgeous views. Highly recommend this property!

It's a perfect place for a quiet get away by the ocean and you're a short taxi ride from downtown Cascais and only about 30 mins from Lisboa. I like to spend the days in the city but a quiet oasis to come home to is really nice.

Hotel Fortoleza has a stunning view of the Atlantic Ocean and the numerous nearby beaches. From our room, we could see the Cabo da Roca (the most western point in mainland Europe.) The dining rooms all have fabulous views of the beach and we enjoyed some spectacular views watching the fog roll in, glorious sunsets, and dozens of kite surfers. Most importantly, the staff is very helpful and eager to make your stay pleasant. Be aware that the location is quite remote, but there are buses into Cascais and Sintra. We will return.

Really unique experience, a windswept historic fort with views all around. Free bikes to ride and the most generous and elegant breakfast I’ve ever had.
