The mattress is quite hard not usual but the service and the rooms are very nice and clean.

Pro—staff is friendly and pleasant. Valet brings car fast since it’s parked on the side. Bathroom has shower tub, many hotels no longer have tub. Overall, amenities don’t match Viceroys like Cabo and Chicago, my two most recent stays.
Property was budget hotel they gave a facelift. You can tell…view is of a dilapidated auditorium with plywood on side and busy road that’s noisy (you want low floor so you see pool and hedges). No Nespresso machine in room, if you want coffee you go to lobby, wait, and buy from bar (no morning self serve carafes). No signature slippers like other Viceroys. Drawers in closet don’t open because too close to bed. In 419, backlit vanity mirror flickers. Other luxury hotels want you to enjoy details, if you have a headache, the desk expresses how they hope you feel better and gives you two excedrin, bottled water, and asks what they can do. Here, they gave me Advil but a $6 charge per two tablets was added to bill. When my key stopped working, they asked room number without ID or name to replace, seems a security risk.
Lobby is cute (peep green tiled lobby restroom), margaritas are well made, fun bikes, but not enough to overlook that I wanted in room coffee, slippers, to unpack in drawers I couldn’t open, and pool is behind building, so half is in the sun from about 8:30-9:30a and the rest of day it’s shaded and cold. I usually stay at Proper (great pool) or Georgian (fantastic dining options), tried this out, but will go back to one of those.

Upscale property with friendly and prompt staff. Conveniently located property both within Santa Monica and LA itself. Highly recommend for business or pleasure.

I will say the staff was friendly but execution was poor aside from vallet and bell. Arrived an hour early but room wasn’t ready until almost an hour after checkin. Was comp’d 75 at the restaurant bar but was completely ignored as the staff sat at the other end of the bar socializing with each other. I sat there in front of an empty beer and menu for almost 20 minutes before a cook from the kitchen noticed me and said something to the front of the house. Upon checkin I requested a room furthest from the elevators but was put in a room closest to. Internet access was down in the morning. Not a good experience on the last leg of my vacation.

The hotel said they couldn’t allow us to check in early unless we wanted to pay $50 but then at 2:30 I saw rh allow multiple guests early check in so when I asked she then said I could check in (check in is at 3 and I originally arrived at 2). There were gnats in our room and when I asked to switch rooms there were still gnats. They said it had been remodeled but our sink was cracked and there was a mini step in the bathroom which could really stub a toe. I was excited to come back to the viceroy after several years but I won’t be returning, unfortunately.

Property was very well located and the pool area was lovely. Our friends traveling with us took advantage of the bicycles provided which was really nice. Bar and restaurant on site was convenient and staff very friendly. My only complaint is that I mentioned my VIP status with Expedia upon check in and didn’t receive any of the benefits which was supposed to be a room upgrade and 2 beverages. Other than that the rooms were nice and we especially loved the large remodeled bathroom. ocean view room had a somewhat obstructed view and I think the higher levels would have provided better view (we stayed on 5th floor).

One floor up on the same side of a hotel is hardly an “upgrade”

We only stayed here for one night, but it was a great one. The hotel staff is excellent. Everyone we delt with was kind and helpful. The room was clean, beautifully decorated, and very comfortable. We ate at the hotel restaurant and were very happy with each of our meals. If we're ever back in Santa Monica we would definitely stay here again.

Its a good hotel. Rooms are good. The toiletries are wow. However there is no tea and coffee facility inside the room and i had to ask water on the 2nd day since room service will not keep water for me. Hotel is walking distance to the pier and the 3rd promenade. Dining options are limited and the room service and restaurant closes at 10 pm so i had to order from outside. The security staff is always smiling and welcome. Rest need to learn smiling a bit more.

The things I liked the most about The Viceroy were the cleanliness. the food was very good & staff was super friendly & helpful, our room was gorgeous. I highly recommend this hotel

Service was poor. Only one elevator working. Pool areas are very small. There is no separate kids pool as described. I returned my food for poor quality. I experienced other Viceroy properties and this one is truly disappointing. From check in to check out my experience was less than satisfactory.
3.0 / 10.0
The hotel was nicely designed but located on. It is super busy street. The ocean view was great, but you could not open the window because of the loud noise of the main street in front of the hotel. The service and staff was wonderful. The pool was, very unimpressive, it was too small and not enough chairs. We couldn’t enjoy the outside because there were too many families with little children everywhere.

A decent experience. Not quite the elevated one promised by the brand, but close.
Lack of air-conditioning for our first two days and nights made sleeping unbearable. Hotel staff refused to give us a fan and then on our next request told us they were all booked out. Once AC was fixed, a much more enjoyable room. We had a higher floor room with a “balcony” which was in fact patio doors to a railing. It was nice to have the air flow but the noise from the boulevard did make it hard to relax on the weekends.
Lack of coffee maker or kettle in the room is baffling, but then again they charge $6 per coffee in the lobby, so lucky us.
The hotel is located one block from the beach and close enough to walk to the pier and main areas for restaurants and shopping.
Onsite restaurant is great. Service is attentive.
All in all a pleasant stay, just not quite the elevated one we had hoped for.

Great stay. The hotel is very clean, and in close proximity to lots to do in the area. I thought the service was excellent as well. In fact, I'd like to give a special shoutout to Lynette at the restaurant and coffee/bar area. Lynette, you made my trip and birthday great fun! Thank you for your A-game service.
The one remark on the downside that I'll make is I had construction going on each morning in my room. While the view and setup and room were lovely, the noise was a bit tough to have that early in the AM each day.
Overall, would I stay again? Absolutely.

My daughter and I had a wonderful stay at the Viceroy. The hotel is located in easy walking distance to the beach, Santa Monica Pier and great shopping and dining options. Loved our eighth floor city view room. You do need to be careful of the bathroom sliding door. It was nice to relax by the pool after a day out sightseeing. Staff was amazing and attentive.

Loved everything about this place with the exception of all the young children running around the pool. But that is to be expected at a family friendly hotel. Just run across the road to the beach!

Upgarded to partial ocean and use of bikes made the one night stay an excellent option to enjoy Santa Monica.

Our first time in Santa Monica and very much enjoyed the stay. Location- convenient for walking the beach area or quickly getting on I-10 or PCH, or heading to main street Santa Monica. The corner it is on is not congested like further up the street. Staff - very nice and welcoming, front desk, parking, restaurant/bar they were great. Valet parking is what it is, but they were fast and friendly. Restaurant- we only ate breakfast but very tasty and reasonably priced. Room- comfortable. I like the hotel size, not too many people or waiting on elevators. So that’s it, I enjoyed the stay and if we ever come back will stay there again.

The stay was short but enjoyable. The room was pleasant, breakfast food was good, and the location in Santa Barbara across from the ocean was great.

I use Expedia ALL the time and love it but this time for the first time I was VERY Disappointed with My stay
I recently stayed at Viceroy and unfortunately, my experience was far from what I expected. I paid nearly $700 a night, and I feel like I didn’t get what I paid for.
Firstly, upon arrival, we were not informed that the hotel was hosting a wedding. This meant we had no access to the patio with the fire pits or the outside bar, which completely changed the atmosphere of the hotel. We had planned to enjoy a nice dinner at the hotel on Friday and a beach dinner on Saturday, but with the wedding happening, it felt like we were missing out on the amenities we were looking forward to.
I rented a cabana for over $300 and out cabana was the only one that didn't have a carpet causing my daughter to fall since it was so slipper
We hat to lay towels all over the floor
Additionally, the elevators were out of service during our stay. Being on the 8th floor, we had to take the stairs twice because only the maintenance elevator was available, and the wait for it was far too long.
Overall, I left feeling very disappointed with my stay. I expected a much better experience for the price I paid. I hope the management takes these issues into consideration for future guests.

I have stayed in several hotels in the downtown Santa Monica area over the past several years, and the Viceroy stands head and shoulders above similarly priced hotels in the area. We stayed for 5 days on this occasion and the staff were unfailingly kind, helpful, professional, and excellent across the board - from the valets to the front desk to the restaurant. Our only slight issue was an air conditioning problem one morning that was remedied within 30 minutes of being reported. The restaurant food is not inexpensive but was excellent and the pool area was lovely and relaxed during our stay. Housekeeping was also impeccable. In my opinion, this hotel is the best in its price range in the downtown SM area and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Pretty good hotel with the good spot. The last high our AC broke, blowing air but not cold air air. Luckily it wasn't that hot, but we didn't get a good night sleep.
The management gave us a little discount, removing the resort fee for one night and one of our restaurant bills, which was nice of them nevertheless we didn't get a good night sleep that night.

The A/c was so noisy and no coffee machine or hot water for drinks in the room … the complaints water only in the first day
