The reason I gave low grade for service is because when I arrived there there was NO reservation in my name and I had to pay again in higher tariff. I stay one hour talking at hotels.com, spoke to 5 different people and no one solved my situation. I had to call 3 times and in the last time they told me the reservation was cancelled and no refund was sent to my account or information. After one big day travelling it was a nightmare. I hope they improve their service.

A top notch hotel. The breakfast was the best we've had in three weeks of travelling in Portugal.

The buffet is excellent.
Also very good is the swimming-pool.
The ventilation was rather noisy.

Have stayed here several times before when it was owned by another company. Nothing has changed - it’s still an amazing hotel with great staff, comfy rooms, large well equipped bathrooms and excellent restaurant. Can’t wait to stay here again.

The hotel is sitting at the top of the hill n windy. 3 to 5c temperature n TWO days without heat. When checking out told the front desk n she said yes two days no heat. Never apologize about it n never mind that they will compensate for it. It sounds like very normal for them. WiFi was very slow almost can’t download anything. 4 stars hotel without any sound proof walls. We can hear our neighbors talking n from the hallway. No railings at the pool and hot tub. We have to get support from the wall to get into the slippery hot tub. Disappointed with this hotel

During these strange times it was great to see a hotel operating as near normal great hotel walk into town but get a taxi back aroun 3 euros well worth it

Slightly out of town, about a 15 minute walk to the town centre. The hill it’s on is steep, but Ubers & taxis are available for the journey back. Our hotel room was large, comfortable and airy, with a balcony and a view of the town and the hills beyond. There’s a wide selection at breakfast, the gym is well equipped and the pool’s a good size. Recommended.

Fantastic views from the room & bar over the city which was helped by a great sunset.
Bit disappointed you had to wear a bathing cap if you wanted to visit the pool

If going here this is the place to stay. Next to the Castelo ruins with scenic views. The hotel is beautiful, amenities (indoor pool, tennis court, parking, leisure space) plentiful and friendly and attentive staff. Our room was beautiful with every comfort needed. Would repeat without hesitation.

Room is nice, beds really should be next size up though. Bath area was not pleasant, the tile grouting needed redoing but the rest of it was fine! Nice bar area and the pool is a plus. I’d say it’s as good as you get in Castelo Branco and we will always use it as our hotel of choice.

This is a large hotel suitable for conferences etc & was clean & comfortable. However, they need a new chef & restaurant manager. While there was a selection of food served for dinner (& breakfast) it was either served cold (when it should have been hot) or badly overcooked (e.g. salmon). So bad that I had a hamburger in the bar rather than revisit the dining room on our second night.

Had a great stay here even though it was out of season, prices are excellent

We were disappointed in the comfort of the room the beds were hard like sleeping on boards and also the pillows. There was no tea or coffee facilities in the room and a poorly stocked mini fridge. Overall the hotel is clean including the dining area and there was a good choice for breakfast. We ate a couple of times in restaurant in the evening the food was good and the staff were friendly.

Stayed here 10 years ago and recently returned. The hotel is on top of a hill with fantastic views over the city and mountains beyond. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The bar and restaurant are good and the prices are very reasonable. Buffet evening meal at 14 Euros is great value for money.

Stayed here the previous week en route to the ferry in Northern Spain. Enjoyed it so much we stopped here again on our way back to the Western Algarve and added an extra night so we could enjoy the hotel and explore the town of Castelo Branco. Located next to the castle and a 10 to 15 minute walk into the Old Town. Very steep streets so not suitable for anyone with mobility issues. Rooms very comfortable. Staff extremely friendly and efficient and breakfast superb. Will stay here again !!

Used this hotel when en route from the Algarve to the ferry at Santander. Excellent location. Rooms comfortable and great views, if you request a room overlooking the town. Staff extremely friendly and helpful (especially Christina) and breakfast fantastic. Enjoyed our overnight stay so much we booked to stay here again the following week on our return journey AND added an extra night so we could explore the town. Walked into the old town and found a traditional Portuguese restaurant (A Floresta) which was fantastic value for money ! Didnt have a chance to use the sports facilities at the hotel but they looked really good !! Will be staying here again.
