dated in terms of decor, fixtures and fittings, furniture, both inside and outside the room. Dated also applies to what is deemed a reasonable requirement for today's traveller .....Iron, suitcase rack, a pair of bathroom glassware, coffee (beyond the 2 sachets supplied) ....air con?

Smelly staff, broken furniture, no toilet brush, no toilet roll holder, shower tap broken, brown splash on the inside of the bathroom door and wall I hope it's not what I think it is, no bed lights, bins not emptied, lights not working in the corridor one of them the fire exit light (fire inspection needed) spider webs all over, dirty cups on arrival paid for 4 nights left after 3, i have stayed in hotels all over the world including third world countries but never anything like that, never again.

Massive disappointment. This hotel is a mess.
Took 2 rooms for 2 nights. The rooms had no heating with radiators stone cold. Reported to reception and managers multiple times. Went home early because room too cold to spend second night there.
Nothing done, despite multiple complaints.
Bathroom had no plug and no mirror. Water pressure very weak.
Morning of second day elevator broke down multiple times. It was very old and noisy and had we not been on the top floor we would have used the stairs
If this is the standard of "Best Western" things have dramatically declined.
Admittedly it was a cheap hotel but you do expect basic amenities like heating !!

The foyer was very welcoming the staff who booked us in was fantastic..the room itself was a little bit tired the bathroom a little snug but had everything that was needed.... housekeeping came every day which was unexpected ( so efficient that they threw away new underwear 😂)and the added bonus for us was dog friendly
We like our food so in future it would be nice to see this particular hotel do a full English as the breakfast room was fantastic with absolutely gorgeous chandeliers

Property isnt the cleanest of properties. Room was large, bathroom requires a major scrub feaces around the toilet pan from previous people, shower was grubby, towels seen better days. Pillows were hard & bed not the comfiest. Sea view frm the room was the best thing. Glad it was only a quick stay over. There is alot of potential in this place & with a quick decent clean & a freshing up it would be good.

Large room, nice and clean. Beds a bit firm but that’s personal taste. Great location, happy to visit again 😊

The hotel was very clean staff were excellent right on the beach front only had one night perfect for us

Hotel is very tired and in desperate need of a make over. Room was cold and noisy. reception tried to make it work and then left without addressing it. Pillows are horrible- unless if you like firm or extra firm pillows. The room, bathroom and overall decor just looks dated. Don’t trust the photos,

Heating turned off when it was needed between 7pm 4.30am... Making showering a freezing nightmare when you get up......

It was awful got no sleep there was a massive grinding noise all night asked to be moved at 10 at night and couldn’t and in the morning told the manager and he said the noise was unexceptable and to complain to you to get our money back

It was a Lovely Hotels with Great staff and very Friendly, Nice Bed. Nice shower 🚿 and Great TV 📺, THE Breakfast was Fairly Reasonable, and it was Continental,
It was Very close to 🌊 Front...was Great to walk 🚶♀️ I'd definitely go back again !!!!

First of all the important things- the staff went over and above at every turn and I would say faultless, the location couldn’t be better, you are literally on the sea front in the most beautiful part of Eastbourne, and the beds were very comfortable and bedding was spotless. However if you are looking for a beautifully decorated and lovely hotel, the Citrus is not for you. The rooms are nothing like they are on the website. I have never stayed in a backpackers hostel but if I did, I imagine it would look like this. Our room had cracked walls and peeling paint everywhere, the lift was like a death trap and even the staff said don’t use it. Breakfast was ok for a continental. Having said all that, for what I paid and for the superb location, I probably would stay here again but I would ask for one of the rooms which has been redecorated since it was housing those who shall remain nameless.

Rooms were damp, ceiling falling down, bits of the wall missing, skirting boards missing, furniture damaged, lift not working. List goes on. Terrible place. Checked in and then checked back out after an hour and found somewhere else to stay! Floor had certain stains on it. Walls was marked, bathroom door woulnt close.

This hotel is in a great location for the beach and the Towner gallery (1 min walk!) The staff were so friendly and helpful. We found it a really cost effective option for a quick and easy one night stay in Eastbourne.
3.8
A lovely hotel in a very good position. There's been quite a bit of renovation which is continuing. The staff were amazing, so helpful & polite. The room was huge. Hoping to go back later in the year tho I will take my own pillow as theirs were very uncomfortable.

Comfortable beds, spacious room, very friendly staff, good value for money

The staff were one of the most welcoming we've ever experienced in a hotel.Leanne was a gem & couldn't offer enough help.Ashley was a very helpful & chirpy Duty Mgr.Louis was a Mgr who turned his hand to anything that needed to be done in the hotel & really cared about staff & guests. Our room very clean & the bed extremely comfortable. We were given a sea view on the side of the hotel. Some suggestions that I discussed with hotel staff were:need for bedside lights & more than 2 plug sockets.Internet connection in room was very sketchy but strong in reception.Self-service continental breakfast was more than adequate.Choice of cereals, fruits, yoghurt, freshly warmed pastries, toast & spreads.Wide choice of coffees from a machine & a choice of teas.Plenty of seating available. There is an elevator. Considering we stayed during a busy Bank Holiday weekend,we still managed to find a parking space every day.Street parking outside the hotel is free 6pm to 8am.The hotel provided parking vouchers for 3 hours parking at a cost of £2.20 per 3 hours outside of these times (subject to number of tickets allocated to the hotel by the council).Unfortunately, the council had not provided enough vouchers to cover the holiday weekend.Although not their fault, the hotel was very apologetic. If vouchers are unavailable, parking is payable via a phone app at a higher cost, although cheaper than areas closer to the pier/town(about 10-15 min walk).Free road parking is available in streets away from seafront.

My main issue that there was no season ticket and one of reasons . I picked this hotel because of parking . The room had no ventilation and pillows were rubbish !
3.8
We had a pleasant stay. The hotel is near the seafront and pier and close to the bus route and train station. The staff were very friendly and happy to help— especially Leanne. The room was clean and functional. A minor thing: the door wasn’t sealed top to bottom meaning we had some light and sound from the corridor. I had earplugs so it wasn’t a big bother, but it might bother you if you’re a very light sleeper. The breakfast was fine, toast and spreads, cereals, yoghurt etc. considering everything, it was a decently-priced no-frills stay!

We stayed here as a family and had a family suite. Room was very large and clean. Our bathroom had no extractor fan and being a basement level room had no windows. This made the condensation bad and smell of damp linger. Nice to have a powerful hot shower though.
Generally the hotel showing some signs of wear and tear but overall a happy stay from us.

The Hotel was a good price compared to others in the area and it was cleaan and convenient.

Staff brilliant ,room clean and updated.would like lamp on bedside table, and cooked breakfast
3.8
Lovely hotel, staff very helpful, gorgeous double room, plenty of room really comfortable bed

We had no hot water in our room. Property is in need of some updates. You’re better off getting breakfast somewhere else.

First visit in a long while. Hotel's alleged "refit" clearly didn't extend to elevator or reception area.
PLUSES - The room was terrific - I was quite taken aback by how big, comfortable and well-equipped it was. (Bathroom impressive too - at first).
MINUSES - Shower in need of descaling: water flow impeded and misdirected.
Another problem - breakfast. No small plates, no milk for cereal - unless requested! And despite the asking price, cooked breakfasts were not provided. (An e-mail message, which I'd overlooked, indicated that all this was "as per safety guideline" - implying the so-called "covid restrictions" were still in place in 2024?)
3.8
The hotel was care worn and rather shabby, the view was fine and it was possible to see the sea but the window wouldn't quite shut properly and thus the room was cold, the bed was lumpy and the room was very low grade
3.8
only the name of the hotel is nice. cold rooms, dirty carpet, stewed sink, you have to ask them to turn on the heating, they answer that someone said it was hot. I do not recommend this hotel. I give -3 stars.
3.8
Lovely stay , decoration could do with a revamp
Staff very friendly and really helpful nothing to much trouble for them . Very comfortable room will be staying again .
With parking was raining didn’t get out on time to scratch off permit and got a parking ticket £25 so beware don’t forget to scratch off parking permit .

I have stayed here before and it’s a decent hotel, however, the cleanliness of the bathroom left a lot to be desired, when I shut the siding door inside the bathroom there was some considerable debris that had been missed in the corners and the dark scum around the wet room drain I avoided at all costs.
We were unfortunate to encounter a fire alarm at 4.45am which after getting dressed turned out to be a false alarm.
Not really a welcoming place but well priced nevertheless - could do better

Was a very pleasant stay with lovely staff. Breakfast was lovely. Family room was great size with part for the bunk beds. The room was clean but tired. The carpets could do with being replaced. For the price i thought it was great. They had a games room downstairs as well.

Reasonable and comfortable, sea f4ont hotel

Our booking was changed within a week of making the booking through hotels.com as the family suite we had booked was booked out to someone else apparently. Emails to confirm the changes were requested twice and never came. In hindsight this should have been a warning of what was to come and we should have cancelled the stay.
On arrival the hotel was tired, dirty and in poor state of repair. Staircases and hallways were filthy had not been hoovered in a very long time. The decor both inside and out was tired and in need of improvement. The doorbell to access the hotel after 11pm had been stolen. Bed linen was clean, shower lacked pressure and the walls and carpet in the bedroom were dirty and uncared for to the point you needed to wear shoes or socks at all times in the room. Breakfast room again needed a a bit of tlc. Breakfast was ok staff friendly.

Very convenient location and staff fairly friendly. Overall okay for the cost. Would suggest 2star not 3star rating !

Staff were very welcoming and helpful and the rooms are large and light. Breakfast room very nice. Hotel could do with a bit of renovation and refresh all around though.
3.8
Hotel could do with a "spring clean" and a lick of paint in some parts but otherwise all was good.
The staff in particular were all friendly and helpful and the breakfast was exceptional.
Thanks to all concerned

Very pleasant stay. Whilst so updating and remedial work needs doing . This is vastly remedied by the professionalism of the stay. All friendly and curtious each and everyone worked hard to make our stay a pleasing experience. The breakfast was very good and real value for money. Would definitely stay there again . Good location and brill staff especially our initial receptionist Sharon who throughout our stay went over and above . But then all staff were brill just Sharon had that little extra edge

Was here for a friend's wedding and needed a budget-friendly hotel that was clean and welcoming...and that's exactly what we got!!

We had a fantastic time at Citrus Hotel in Eastbourne and all the staff made our honeymoon memorable. Thank you so, so much! When we arrived, we were welcomed by the wonderful hotel manager, Mrs Rika Robertson, who was really kind and friendly and gave us a beautiful room with sea view. Also, we loved our breakfast which was delicious and varied. The stars of the show in the restaurant were Nancy, George and Kirsty- they gave us the best customer service and were very attentive. You all spoilt us rotten during our stay at Citrus Hotel and we're really grateful. Thank you everyone! We cannot wait to go back!
