A cheap place to stay if you just need a place to sleep. Run down and mostly broken. Add to it the most inhospitable and rude receptionist which complained about everything but found it OK to "walk" his dog for a 5am morning pee at the trash cans in the small common area backyard.

It is very nice youth hostel. Please just fix the shower which kept changing the hot water temp.

We loved the location and that the hostel was quite clean but it was a bit expensive for a hostel. We paid $190.00 Canadian.

This place was awesome! I was in Mull on a Rabbies tour. Many of the other travelers opted to have the company book accommodations for them, but I chose to go with the hostel on my own. I am so glad I did! A lot of the other places in Tobermory are up on a pretty steep hill, away from the harbor. The hostel is right on the main drag, easily accessible to the grocery store, bars, restaurants, shops, distillery, and the view of the water. It had a large common room with books, maps, information about tours, and a television (if you want). The kitchen facility is excellent--two large fridges, a place for dry foods, two ovens, a large prep space, and a few tables that fit up to 4 people. The kitchen space has a great view of the water, too! Beds were super cozy and comfortable. I only wish they had posted on their website or Expedia that it would cost 3 pounds for a towel rental. I thought that was a bit steep. Also, showers have standing water and the temperature gauge is really sensitive. If I ever return to Tobermory, I will stay here again!

We loved the location of the hostel on the harbour-side. Our double room had a lovely harbour view. The hostel was run and managed very efficiently. The kitchen was particularly impressive with its recycling and sharing facilities, all to avoid wastage. There were new toilet and shower facilities. In Tobermory there was lots to do and plenty of eating establishments.

still a good place to stay en route from Iona to the HIghlands, revisiting one of our locations of trips around the area in 1973 - all still hospitable, room with a grand view across the Harbour

Tobermory is charming. I spent the day on a Staffa Tours cruise to Fingal’s Cave and Langa to see the puffins and I retired for the evening back at the Tobermory port. The day was perfect because we got to the cafes and shops right as they open and weren’t back until the tour busses left. The town was never crowded (thankfully because it only takes five minutes to walk the entirety of the waterfront).
The hostel was average, but I’m not picky and it was perfect or my needs. Check in was FANTASTIC and the gentleman (like most people in Scotland I’ve encountered) was prompt and pleasant. Check in was hassle free and went smoothly. We picked up our keys, door and WiFi access code and towels (included in private room) and headed upstairs.
The male and female showers are on separate floors. The female facility was emaculate. I cannot testify to the condition of the men’s showers, but my boyfriend didn’t have any complaints. The single unisex toilet on the first floor where we stayed did smell a bit like urine and I believe it has to do with old plumbing, but I had the option of female toilets upstairs so it didn’t bother me too much. The room itself could use a little TLC, there were some dead bugs on a walls corner and the window sill, but nothing repulsive.
I quite enjoyed my stay. My window overlooked the main portion of the waterfront and the dock where there was a live bagpipe rendition for twenty minutes. I am unsure what the occasion was, but it was pleasant.
