THIS HOTEL WAS THE MOST HORENDOUS EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE!

Bar not open, it was suggested we go to a pub round the corner. Main door closed at approx 1730 so had to use a side door.

Very nice stay at this hotel friendly staff easy walk to the town

I paid £34 room only. What do you expect for £34? It was fine. Wouldn’t wanna live there or spend my hols there, but for overnight business trip needing a convenient bed location, it was fine. Would I go again? For £34 yes I would.

Weekend break for our wedding anniversary. Stayed here a lot of times and always enjoy it. Nice big clean rooms, in a nice quiet area. Staff always friendly and breakfast is always excellent 👍

I had a lovely 2 day stay with my Jack Russell & we were made to feel very welcome. I had breakfast for the 2 days we were here & it was lovely. I would highly recommend The Balmoral to anyone thinking of staying in the area,

Stayed 3 night’s for a long weekend. Hotel is in a nice area, very quiet and clean. Owners very friendly and helpful. Had a breakfast and it was lovely. 👍 This is the third time I’ve stayed here with my husband and daughter and I would definitely recommend. We like it that much we are returning mid September for our wedding anniversary and have booked for May half term 2025. It’s a fantastic place to stay. 😊

Very comfortable stay!

The hotel is, as many reviews say, tired and a bit shabby and in need of some TLC and a deep clean. That said, we received a friendly welcome, the staff were lovely, the beds comfy (please get some new pillows though!), having a fridge in the room was a great plus and the breakfast was amazing (except for the coffee), and fabulous value at £5. Balmoral Lodge has a homely feel, and a certain quirky jaded charm (Christmas decorations in the dining room in July!) - a good budget option, not up to everyone's expectations I daresay, but with free parking and being well located, we would definitely stay there again.

A well located hotel near the town centre. It was comfortable and had free on site parking. The room was clean and spacious but in need of refurbishment as it is looking dated.

Room was a little dated but comfortable staff were friendly
Breakfast was ok apart from being served mouldy bread and the milk had gone off both sat on breakfast table ,,, we discreetly mentioned to the staff with which they took away and apologised… was cereals, jams and spreads fresh fruit, yoghurts fruit juices, toast and cooked breakfast of ( 1 bacon,1 sausage, spoonful of beans and scrambled egg) tea or coffee and even a little chocolate biscuit all for the cost of £5

Great check in. Reception could see i was struggling with the steps to get into the hotel and without asking moved me from a sigle room to a groundfloor twin, for the same rate. An exceptional piece of customer service.
Room could do with an spruce up around the walls but was completely acceptable.
I would stay again, very good value.

Had a lovely stay at the hotel for 3 nights over the bank holiday weekend and if I had to sum the place up I'd say this...
Great location on the edge of the town centre
Excellent if you're on a budget
Very cosy
Full of character
Superb value breakfast for £5
Very nice staff
What more could you want!?
Will be back!

The fella who checked us in was super friendly, helpful and profesional. Didn't have the breakfast so can't vouch for that.
The hotel is perfectly fime for a night or two. It's old and in need of a refresh: think stains on walls, frayed carpet, super mega econo soap and the world's smallest 'TV'.
The staff are great though: super helpful and friendly.
Like I said, fine for a night or two

Its a budget hotel where the emphasis is most definiely on customer service and attentiveness. The owner and staff between them are always on hand to assist.

The people running the place couldn't do enough to make our stay enjoyable. There is a bus stop just over the road from the property that will run you into the center of town. We didn't use the service as we didn't find it too far to walk. The breakfast was really good value, with a choice of continental breakfast, or a cooked breakfast or if hungry enough both.
The room was large and roomy, with a seperate en-suite and large bath towels

We have stayed at the balmoral many times.. but this time was not as good as before.. the mattress in room 3 was so uncomfortable it felt like we’d slept on a park bench.. won’t put us off staying again but hopefully not in that room..

This was an old fashioned hotel with lots of character, in need of updating. The heating was only on for a short while in the evening and i was unable to get the electric radiator going. I called the owner who kindly came out immediately to get it going.

Great value for money if you want a clean and friendly BnB. The property is a bit shabby and it's not the Ritz but they provide excellent value for money. Great if you just need a comfy bed for the night.
Liked the fridge in the room too.
