The room was tired and need redecorating. No curtain on the bathroom window, which looked out on to a main road. The double bed was very small.
The food was great and the staff were friendly, apart from one lady who had a constant bad attitude.

Very dissapointed by my stay which never happened due to storm Bert. See attached e mail which the hotel have not even had the decency to reply to . They were quick enough to take my £84.00.

We stayed for 3 night's with a large family group. Overall we had a great time. Yes some decor and carpets are dated but its very clean. Its a quirky, very old hotel with lots of stairs and corridors which might not be suitable for all. The ensuite in our rooms were newly refurbished and modern. Housekeepers were very helpful and accommodating. Bar manager Wayne was hard working, friendly and fun, all the bar staff and breakfast servers etc were lovely.

Great stay at The George Hotel - centrally located and a perfect base when going to gigs at the Cheese & Grain. The staff are excellent, helpful and friendly. The room was spotlessly clean with good quality shower gel / shampoo / body lotion. Nice fluffy towels and good bed linen. Comfortable bed and tea and coffee making facilities included. The only thing that let the room down was the decor as it is in need of a lick of paint.
Good cooked breakfast in the morning.
Good value for money and would definitely stay there again.

Check in was at the bar, which at 7pm on a Friday was never going to be quiet or simple.
I had prepaid through hotels.com yet they said I hadn’t paid and needed to pay again .
It took 15 minutes and the manager’s involvement to confirm I didn’t need to pay. Even the manager tried to get me to pay at first. Never happened before, was embarrassing and I nearly walked away to drive home.
Room is large, but needs refurb massively. Bed too hard. Bath with shower curtain ; thought shower curtains were a thing of the past

Lovely 400 year old building, quirky but lots of stairs. Used this hotel for convenience not for sightseeing or a holiday. Read the good reviews and reasonable price. The bed was not comfortable Breakfast was excellent with loads of choice. Staff exceptional, very friendly and helpful.

A lovely couple of nights in this grade 2 hotel. Staff were great especially Vicky who brightened our day every morning despite the wet weather.

This place is an absolute gem. The staff were all friendly and welcoming, the room was clean and the bed was huge and really comfortable. There were plenty of teas and coffees and some nice biscuits provided and a bottle of water, the bathroom had hand wash, shampoo, conditioner and body wash in, the food both at dinner and breakfast was fresh, hot and delicious, the parking was in a locked garage round the back, we both thoroughly enjoyed our stay, thank you to all there 💕

A really nice english classic pub-hotel. Excellent food, service and high standard room. 👍 You can not get more value for the money.
3.0 / 5.0
The pub area was nice, with decent food and lovely staff. However, our room was what I would call 'tired'. The window blinds didn't work and fell off numerous times and the sash window was difficult to close. Single glaze meant it didn't keep the outside traffic noise out. It seems that Frome also has a bit of a youth problem because there were several of them most nights shouting and generally being unsociable. It may be that the rooms are being slowly renovated but not the one we were in. The bathroom shower cubicle was far too small to easily wash and filled to overflowing (I had to turn the shower off to let it drain) and there were areas of flaking paint on some of the walls. I must emphasise that the staff were very nice and the breakfasts of a good standard but the room, although only a base, was not that good.

Really friendly staff, comfortable room, great location.

The location of the hotel is excellent. Hotel parking is easy to access and close by. The staff at the reception, at the bar, in the restaurant and at breakfast could not have been better. They were enthusiastic, engaged, attentive and efficient. Food in the evening and at breakfast was of a good standard and the portions were generous. The atmosphere and setting in the bar and restaurant was fresh, vibrant and friendly. We had two bedrooms and we were disappointed with the run down aspect of these, though they were clean. One room was very noisy from the street and the other room noisy from a dripping cistern which in the morning did not even flush. The paint is marked and peeling in numerous places, blinds and curtains don't close properly or are falling down, the carpets are completely worn and the bathroom fixtures and fittings barely functional. The staff were very understanding when we commented on these aspects at check-out. The hotel is due to be renovated next year.

The staff were lovely and welcoming as soon as we got there. The room was a lovely size for a family room. There was a bit if noise bit as soon as the pub closed it was quiet. The room could do with some attention but honestly it was lovely. Beautiful location and great service.

Good size room with a balcony which overlooked a square. Easy drop off for bags etc and secure parking available - although i decided not to try to get the large SUV i was driving into it as it has a limited space access. There was parking available close by. Great choice if you have dogs (i have 2)

To beging Frome is a quirky town which we loved. The George Hotel is smack bang in the middle. Such a good location.
The hotel was friendly, welcoming and cosy. There really was nothing or no one we could fault.

Nice stay. Windows need cleaning

Apart from the fact that the stairways and parking area were in need of a bit of tlc everything was great. The room was a bit on the warm side as the top window was painted up and couldn't be opened, however we had a fan so it was cool enough in the night. The staff were wonderful, the food excellent and the ambience really nice. I would go back definitely.

A good base between Longleat/Bath. Not a huge amount to do in Frome but hotel was nice. Lovely looking bar area, food was good. Exactly what we needed to reduce driving time

There is no option to leave luggage ahead of the check in so as a traveller coming on public transport I had to keep my bag with me which was a bit of a pain. Strict check in of 3pm

Very central hotel with a sport bar, so full of undesirables getting drunk and being foul mouthed.
Room was clean but decor very dated and furniture looked like it had come out of the charity shop.
Didn’t stay, booked straight back out and went to the Premier Inn.

Breakfast was very nice.

Room was comfortable though window didn't close properly. No problem though. Furniture perhaps a little dated and in need of a little modernisation, again no big issues though.

We stayed as a group travelling to and from Glastonbury. We were very well looked after and the staff are extremely friendly. Our only complaint was the noise on Friday night but that was out of their hands!

Everything was very good except the very very noisy extractor fan in the bathroom and very noisy road traffic all night. Ask for a room at the rear.
