The location is very good and the staff are friendly, but the hostel is not very clean and do not have enough bathrooms and showers. The smoke room in the reception makes the ambient quite uncomfortable.

Recommended for a stay in Amsterdam if you want to visit the museus and like walking (since city center is 25 minutes away)

Good for a couple of nights and a very good spot, for someone on a budget like us! However don’t have the highest expectations on toilets and bathrooms because sometimes they were a bit messy :(
4.1
Perfect hostel for young people. Location is a bit out of town but lovely area overall. Lots of people which gave a good atmosphere

This was my first time staying at a hostel and the staff was very polite. The area was very quiet and the everything was walkable. I met people from Australia,
Canada and Sweden. I had the pizza which was good. The only issue was because of the amount of guests toilet paper always ran out and the only option was to go to another floor.

I loved the location near all the best museums.

There are so many stairs and no elevators. If you have any type of larger suitcase, don’t book here. They have limited lockers. Bathrooms are ridiculously small. Can’t check in early. It’s also non refundable

Amazing crowd of young people, perfect for solo Travellers looking to meet new friends. Cheap beer, friendly staff

Loved it! Women's only room for those new to hostels or not comfortable with co-ed rooms. Have continental breakfast and activities, as well as a galley kitchen for minor cooking and storage for left-overs. Right next to Vondel Park with Van Gogh Museum and Hard Rock Cafe nearby.

The hostel has good vibes with international people and it’s near the city centre. However it’s very small, there is no elevator and the bathrooms are very tiny but cleaned. The staff was very welcoming and good looking. The experience was good apart from a Rasta Italian guy from Livorno in our room who snored like a tractor every night and didn’t allow us to sleep properly.

Location is great , right next to the Voldenpark and a short walking distance to the Rijk museum. Budget friendly for the young backpackers. Having said that this place caters mostly to the young travelers

Smelly bathrooms, great location though

It was my first time visiting a hostel, and I feel very lucky to have picked such a good place to stay

Despite my horrible experience with the staff here, the property itself was great. The rooms and bathrooms were clean. Perfect location across from the park. Now staff? The women here were terrible, they had the worst attitudes, very young minded. One of the house keepers went through my CLOSED belongings because she suspected I had food in my bag. When I confronted the front desk it was as though they were justifying her actions of violating my privacy. No one would own up to the fact that this was wrong no matter the reasoning behind it, staff should not be searching through my personal belongings especially if it is CLOSED. I checked out that same day because I felt the managers were only protecting their own & my privacy didn’t matter. This is why I feel that with the entire staff being young, they were making up their own rules and doing things as they pleased. I didn’t feel like they had a higher up to keep them in line, I would never stay here again. They did fortunately refund me for the nights I hadn’t stayed because of course I checked out that day.

The staff are great.

Easy cheap place to stay. Well located. Very nice staff. Comfortable bed and good storage space. Lively atmosphere throughout most of the day. Smoking room was a huge bonus. Small but decent kitchen to cook in. Very enjoyable

So much fun! Lovely atmosphere and nice facilities.

Amazing place... Rooms are clean and everyone was friendly and helpful throughout my stay. Thank you!!! 😊

I never received the 2 towels we rented and the bathrooms were out of soap and toilet paper. Halls and stairs are cramped.

Could definitely improve on making sure that common areas, especially toilets, are cleaned more often. But other than that, great place to stay!

Stayed here for one week. Traveling solo. I stayed in a shared room of 8. Showers are wonderful and clean. Toilets are clean but small - I think that's the norm. Room was clean and beds comfortable. Walking distance to just about everything in town. Great restaurants and I met some cool people also. Loved that once the coffee shops closed I could smoke at the hostel in my PJ's! Book it It's a great value and wonderful location.

Never stayed in a hostel before. Could have used some wall repair, but clean and safe. I probably would not stay in a hostel again, but if I had to Flying was a good choice.

Flying Pig Uptown is one of the best hostels I’ve stayed at. The staff were kind and helpful. The bar area was fun at night and a great place to meet people. And the surrounding area is very walkable with lots to do. Also really liked the shower set up, which is often hit or miss with hostels, but on my floor at least there were plenty and they were like private little shower rooms. Would definitely stay here again.

Lots of stairs to maneuver.
No AC. Staff is not very friendly or helpful. But location is good, very close to museum square

Had a great time at the uptown hostel. Great location, lovely friendly staff. Will be booking again.

Meets all expectations. Nice bed, clean shower, clean bathroom, hot water. Only thing is that is was quite dusty so my allergies were always acting up constantly, but others seemed to be fine.

a perfect place for a solo traveller. Keep in mind that the building doesnt have lift... so you have to drag your bags threw a small stairs...
the reception people were supper friendly. they help you with any kind of information or problem. Best part was the bar and the smoking room, people mostly spend their time in those places... its a great place to meet new people. I was there till 2-3 in the morning everyday. they have activities everyday from 8-9pm with happy hour drinking... very close to the city centre.
the bed was comfortable and i was in a 14 bed dorm. Other guests were friendly and didnt make noise when others were sleeping. Toilets and shower room was very clean and if you find them dirty just tell them, they clean it asap.
overall a very good place to stay if you are travelling solo or with friends.. supper friendly environment...

I've been curious about hostels forever. I'm about 3 times the age of anyone else staying there, but it was okay. The bed was comfortable, which surprised me. People were also respectful of each other and their property. The staff was very helpful indeed. I never got the Wi-Fi hooked up, but I didn't want to do all the stairs again once I got to the room. I left my Kindle in the room. When I realized it, I called, and they held it for me. When I got back I told them they were my heroes.

Nice place .super friendly front desk

Terrible service at check in. I requested a bottom bunkbed and was told that I got one. Once I get to the room which is a steep climb to 4th floor (!!!) it's actuallhy a top bed. When I mentioned to the front desk she said they're completely booked. She never told me what the wifi code. I had to ask my roommate. But then the wifi is completely not working on that floor

My experience was awesome! 5/5, my only bummer was the size of the bathrooms.
Location: Not only is it directly across from the beautiful and leisurely Vondel Park, it was a very short walk to the museum square (where most of the major museums are located). Quiet but lively area.
Staff: Super friendly and welcoming! Knowledgeable about the area and city. couldn't be any better, felt that I was in safe and genuine hands.
Facilities: *NO ELEVATORS* so this may not be the best for anyone who requires an elevator. The stairs are also very narrow, this is common throughout the city though. The stairs were not a problem, otherwise. The staff also offers to assist you in taking your luggage upstairs if you do need the help!
The bathrooms are kept very clean, but please know that they are very very small (and I am a short and smaller-sized person!). Bathrooms are separate from the showers.
The rooms are clean and have nice lockable cages under the bed. They would not accommodate a very large suitcase, however. They have external lockable lockers for that. You can rent locks cheaply at the front desk.
The smoking room and bar area are very cool! Having a smoking room was incredibly convenient, and great for socializing around the pool table...and yes, it is 4/20 friendly. :-)
