Would not commend, no fridge, the internet doesn’t work.
I wonder why a hostel is listed on your website

The Hostel is within 10 min walk of Plaza del Sol. The check-in was easy (note - very small elevator). The room was a single room and very basic w/o a view - I assume that is standard for a hostel. The room smelled like cleaning products and had no dirt.

The first day, problems with the water in the bathroom, the second day no power for more the 3 hours.

Easy to access places around town.
More hip than traditional neighborhood.
Small room but ok for resting and taking a shower.

We didn't stay long enough to get into the details, but it's in a great location with many reasonably priced dining and shopping options all around.

Location excellent considering the price. Grand Via & Metro close by.
Confusing check in & hotel layout.

The room was very small. In fact the wardrobe door didn’t open completely because it banged into the television. Also, there was no control for the heat/ac unit. Given those conditions, it certainly wasn’t worth the price I paid.

Great service, professional and discreet. Very well located, ideal for a 2 nights stay !

Absolutely horrible, the room has strong smell of cigarettes like people having a huge smoking party in it. I stayed 3 nights with windows open and sprayed air fresh lots of times, still can’t get rid of the smell. Even I hang my washed underwear in the bathroom and my underwear smells like cigarettes. The soap stand was dirty also. Full of dust.
Location is perfect tho, and the receptionist was nice.
But the room, NAH!!

Excellent (for its price), clean, essential petit hotel in a very conveniently located area in central Madrid. Walking distance to transportation and major attractions. Hundreds of bars/restaurants in the area. Truly kind, pleasant, and helpful staff and management. Highly recommended--a bargain for its cleanness and location. If I can suggest a further improvement, management may want to direct cleaning staff and guests to limit the noise in the early morning (specially on weekends). Overall, thank you, Hostal America!

Centrally located and the staff was excellent the only con I had is that at night was extremely hot in the room and when I asked about the remote for the in room air conditioner the response was that it was removed because it was off season and no air conditioning was available.

Other reviews have it right. The main point here is the location.
You are in the heart of the action in Madrid! The street the hotel is located, is one of the main places to find good places to eat, drink, and party, if that's what you want.
But be aware, that the hotel conditions are OK at best.
The hotel is on a old building (as are all in that neighborhood, to be fair) and things don't have none of the modern amenities that you would expect at this time.
I can only speak from the single room I stayed in, and it is a very budgety place.
Tight space, with a very old personal bathroom. The shower head is detachable, and you have to very carefully get into a small bathtub to take your bath.
The bathtub is not big enough for any adult human being be able to use it as a bathtub, so why have it? It's a liability since you can easily fall trying to get down from it after shower.
The doorframe of the bathroom also is in a really bad shape, and don't close properly, as the wood is stuffed. Meaning that the smell of the bathroom goes all the way to the bed, and it can get nasty.
The bed is very good, very comfortable, and is a twin bed, a big person can sleep alone there comfortably.
Summary: location is awesome, but be prepared to not have any comfort. And don't kid yourself that you will go out in the morning and just come back to sleep at night.
Nobody actually does that every day during a trip. Sometimes you need a place to just sit and rest.

Good location but a bit expensive for the larger room. I got a cheaper rate at another hostel in the same building. My main complaint is that they don't give you keys to enter the hostel, always have to be buzzed in...
