Room was fine, only stayed one night. Floor was all tile so it was cold, bed and sheets were very uncomfortable. We also found random eyelashes in the sheets that were not ours. Owner/manager seemed nice.

Great location on the beach - beautiful sunsets & sunrises. Place is very clean with a genuine caring staff. We are walkers - and we’re able to walk to the historic center - the fabulous restaurants & clubs & the local bakery for early coffee. A wonderful place for a quick getaway & to have some fun! Just love how clean it is & how close everything is‼️👍

Avondale is wonderful hotel right on the beach and in the middle of historic Cape May. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The staff is very friendly and can't do enough for you. They provided an excellent free continental breakfast with something for everyone.

I really have no negative comments about the Avondale by the Sea motel. It is in a great location to restaurants, beach, shops and Washington Street. Upon my arrival the front desk woman was so courteous, friendly and filled with information during my stay. I actually am staying again the first weekend of December for the Christmas event. This is now my home away from home when I visit Cape May.

I wanted a reasonably priced place with an Ocean View for my 20 year old daughter’s first time to the shore. I loved that Avondale feels like a neighborhood motel filled with regulars and friendly dedicated staff. The room was comfortable and the convenience to the beach, shopping and dining was perfect. We could park our car and walk everywhere for the weekend. Also bicycle rentals are conveniently located across the street. It was the perfect stay for us.

First stay. I prefer to stay at a B&B but they were booked. Chose Avondale for the location and the pool. The room was very clean but did have a strong odor of whatever cleaner was used. It aired out well so that was fine. Bathroom was tiny and dated. Minimal decor. Bed was comfortable but not premium. Pillows were all the same and too firm for me. If I come back I would bring my own pillow. I loved the view from the 3rd floor. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Guests were also very friendly and many were repeats for years. There is a continental breakfast with a few select items but I had breakfast out. If you are good with cereal or a bagel in the morning, this will work for you. Location is optimal if you want to be at the beach and close to town. It can be a little noisy but it settles down after 10p and there is no live, loud music near by. Overall, a good stay and would choose them again.

Great place to stay in Cape May. The best location for beach, dining, entertainment and shopping. Clean and very courteous staff. Complimentary coffee and donuts are available in the morning, and parking is on site. They even gave us beach tags. We had a great stay!

Its a great place to stay, excellent location. And the staff was friendly and helpful. The only downfall was the bedroom. We had a suite. The mattress is too hard making sleeping unbearable. My husband slept on the couch, while I tossed and turned all night. Also the curtains are too small for the window. It was like sleeping with the lights on. All the outside light just illuminated the room through all four sides of the curtains.

First time guest impressions: Room was clean, bed was comfortable, room content appeared recently updated, appointments were basic, but served our needs. Off street parking, clean pool w umbrellas & pool towels. Liked about our 2-room suite: 2 AC units so the temperature can be adjusted for each room of the suit; balcony w a view of the ocean w 2 rockers; screened storm door to the balcony; separate sleeping space w a door & an extra/mirror sink so a person can apply makeup or shave and not tie up the bathroom. Staff were friendly, efficient, & helpful. Other pluses: nice sized refrigerator, iron/ironing board, blow dryer. The hotel is centrally located along the ocean making many main destinations walkable which is nice since parking can be difficult to find and often costly. Immediate conveniences: across the street from a beach entrance, directly across the street from a bike rental, pizzaria, bakery, & coffee shop. If the owner is looking for constructive feedback, the following would be pluses: 1) microwaves in the rooms (there is one located in a separate closet on each floor) 2) safes in the rooms 3) upgraded coffee for the complementary continental bkfst. It was intolerable to me. Thankfully, there is a coffee shop and a bakery right across the street (NOTE: the coffee is better and cheaper at the coffee shop than the bakery)

The courteous, kind welcome to the departure date were just perfect. Our room was just what we needed, the walk to the beach short and easy, and a wonderful bakery right across the road. We hope to make Cape May our new favorite vacation spot and we will definitely want to stay at the Avondale.

The view was nice. The parking was horrible. We left for breakfast and came back around 10am and was beeped at and sworn at just pulling in the parking lot to park. Apparently they check special individuals in at 10 am n earlier before the people check out. So they can go to the beach etc. and save on parking fees. Which caused constant stress every time you wanted to go somewhere. Knowing you would never find another parking spot when you returned.

Lovely view, CLEAN - inside and out on the balcony, easy walk to beach and downtown, easy to park and get on main road. I usually don’t drive much on vacations due to the hassle, but this was extremely easy to leave in and out to explore more. Lots of towels. I liked the rocking chairs. I didn’t take advantage of the breakfast downstairs. It looked like they have free coffee and bagels. Solo female traveler and felt very comfortable. I also like that there was a screen door that locked so I can get fresh air but not worry about my door being open. Wish I could afford another night or two, or more! Thank you vey much, staff!

My wife and I stayed here in 2018; great experience then, even better experience now. The front desk staff were super friendly and helpful. Our room, King with private balcony was superb; clean, comfortable, spacious. The property was well kept. We didn’t use the pool, but it looked very very clean. Loved that this hotel was in the middle of it all; across the street from the beach, many restaurants near by, small coffee shops across the street for breakfast, 5 minute walk to Washington Square Mall shops. Highly recommend this hotel
