The room was clean and cheap, and staff was friendly, but otherwise I didn’t like it. Bathroom fixtures were old and worn. I had to stick my arm into the toilet tank a few times to adjust the flapper. The towels were clean but frayed. The bed was hard, as others have said, though I didn’t have any problem sleeping on it. The AC worked well, and the ceiling fan was great at night. Nice garden, but no shade and nowhere to sit. Parque del Llano, a nice spot where local kids play, is across the street. It’s not far, but the last few blocks of the walk from Santo Domingo to the hotel are dark and isolated, which I don’t like as a solo female. The first night, the power was out for the last two blocks of the walk and at the hotel. Power came back on as I entered the lobby. Luckily I had a little flashlight with me. The power went out again a day later, though only momentarily. That was twice in the two days I stayed there (after having spent eight nights in another hotel where the power never went out). In a room overlooking the garden, I was far from the busy street out front and the park, and it was quiet enough. I did hear loud banging/exploding sounds around 10am on Sunday morning. I stayed somewhere nicer for eight nights before this that cost about 50% more per night. I decided to extend my trip because I loved Oaxaca that much, and my original hotel was full. For me it was worth the extra money. If your budget is lower, try Oaxaca Real Hotel before this one.

Good location within walking distance to Centro. Nice park across the street to purchase food from numerous vendors at night. We had a great breakfast at the hotel to start off our day before touring around. First mexican hotel/resort that we've stayed at that had plenty of hot water when taking a shower. The wifi didn't work in our room, but was available in the lobby and restaurant areas. Overall, we had a nice comfortable stay at this hotel and was reasonably priced. The washroom was small, but served our purpose. We stayed there for four nights and would stay there again.

Things that I liked: 1) Centrally-located. Easy walking distance to most attractions in Oaxaca. 2) Easy to book tours to local attractions. 3) Friendly and accommodating staff. Very helpful! 4) Excellent value for the money. 5) Very good attached restaurant. Things that I didn't like: 1) Bed mattress was very firm/ hard and made good rest very difficult. After a long day of hiking at Monte Alban or somewhere else, you want to be able to recharge, and those mattresses made it nearly impossible. 2) I had ants in my bathroom most of my stay. Not that big of a deal, but annoying. 3) I had a lower floor courtyard room. The bathroom window had a "frosting" on it to try and provide privacy. Unfortunately it did not ensure complete privacy, and was partially see-through. Again, not sure this is that big a deal but a lot of people want complete privacy in those moments.

The beds were awful. There’s not so much as a coffee maker in the room. The restaurant was pretty good, but quite expensive. Internet was iffy. The location was great, except for the night there was what sounded like cannon and artillery fire (“cuetes”) from midnight to 6 in the morning.

La Casona del Llano has a very good location... close to the city's center... within walking distance. The staff is very friendly, especially in the restaurant.. Hipólito and his team are always and attentive! This is our third stay at La Casona. We will return!!!

I liked everything about it but would love to have had some place in the garden to just sit in the fresh air. It seems a waste of potential, to offer such a nice garden with no way to enjoy it.

La Casona del Llano has perfect rooms - I stayed twice, I tried two rooms - with comfortable beds, hot showers, good space, beautifully arranged around central patio carefully tended, all spotless cleaned by delightful ladies. The staff is very nice, the manager is always there and runs the place smoothly and elegantly. The restaurant is awesome, with the nicest waiters, who make the best explanations of the different choices. The food is delicious!!! Starting the day with those breakfasts was delightful. Authentic Mexican experience. Don´t miss it!

This hotel was advertised for 35. per night. Yet was charged more than double that amount in pesos. The hotel claims they didn't aprove that price. I had no hot water. Breakfast was $10. for whit toast and cappuccino. Unpleasant receptionist. Felt ripped off by the whole experience. Unable to reach hotels.com customer service tried many times over 3 days.

The staff were friendly and helpful. Receptionist offered us a map and ordered a taxi for the airport. The room is basic but has all you need, air conditioning and TV. The restaurant was very pleasant but the food was average. The chicken consommé, however, was delicious. We especially liked the garden and would recommend the addition of a bench or a couple of chairs.

This hotel is in a gorgeous old building and has a great rooftop view of the park across the street. We found the most delicious coffee cart there and enjoyed rad pack of street dogs snoozing it out in the park. I’m not someone who needs a great deal of warmth but this place could sure use a bit. And by warmth, I mean service. The breakfast was killer. The tv and A.C. worked. All in all, worth the money.
