The building from the outside and lobby is beautiful. Once you walk down the very dark and dirty hallway to the room it was not nice.

Room is clean
Check in made me feel discriminated
Dark and no light for self parking
Security people are not able to direct me where to park at night. Cuz me to park wrong place n move back to correct place
For a nice hotel why do they limit lighting at night

Great view, awesome friendly staff! The only thing that could be a bit cleaner is the balcony which still has cigarette butts and kind of dusty.

I was checked in a room with a few mosquito and a tiny cockroach. The reception staff reacted promptly when he was informed of the situation. He immediately arranged another room for me and accompanied to inspect the room to ensure my complete satisfaction.

Beautiful secluded property. 5 star amenities. 3 great restaurants, Tokyo Sushi was our favorite. Room was fantastic with access directly to the pool

Staff very polite. Breakfast was excellent. Hotel lobby and public areas look great. Unfortunately the air conditioning in the room was stuck on 29 degrees and they were unable to fix it or move me to another room.

I was upgraded on arrival and got a really nice room with a view. The room layout is very practical. The only issue was noise from the next room even though the connecting door was locked.

I think it is the nicest place in Laos. There is NOTHING near the hotel so don't expect to go for a walk arround town without a ride. The Sushi resteraunt BLOWS but everything else is super nice. I am gonna get married there next year.

The hotel is amazing. The property and rooms are huge, which makes for a beautiful and relaxing experience, and the staff are very friendly . The location was incredible; right on the Mekong River with Thailand across the river.
Highly recommended!

Far from town if thinking of walking. Rooms need maintenance, from slow drain in showers, to noise from surrounding areas all day and night. Need more signs to guide drivers to front lobby. They need to review the security, from sliding glass doors not locking to loud noise in pool area after midnight.

Pros: Room is spacious, very nice bathroom with separate tub and shower, nice comfy bed, super cool pool, very good gym, nice view of mekong river and nice spa massageCons:Rude and uninterested staff, staff needing major training - their attitude is of a 2 star hotel, few kms away from city center but they do have a shuttle, breakfast options majorly focused on chinese, front desk both check in and check out were horrible!!! They have no idea what they are doing, spa service needs major improvements and facility although massage itself was good.I would come back if they made improvements suggested

The hotel is nice though given its age you would have thought it would be in better condition. I dont think their ideal clientele is European/American but Chinese. And they are obsessed with you paying your bill - insisted we leave a deposit and when we went over it they chased after us for more money. The views are great but its out of town, there is nothing around it and you have to pay US$10 each time you want to into town. They nickel and dime you all the way...... Next time will book somewhere else.

Massive luxurious room with a great view, helpful staff and a great morning buffet. A bit far from the city, but still worth it, with free shuttles.

The hotel is about 20 mins from the airport and about a 5/10 mins tuk tuk from the main city centre. Its a big hotel and was empty when I was there. The room was nice, very big and very comfortable. Breakfast was good and I was the only one there so attention was over the top. The hotels location is a little out of the way to be honest and this was an issue for me in getting taxis and to and from meetings or when trying to get to town. The staff at the hotel were very poor. Some of them were not local and had no idea of directions, cost of things or how to get to places. They messed up 2 taxi bookings I made meaning I was late for meetings and suggested a take a taxi to a meeting using their car (10USD pretty much anywhere) as it was far to far to walk despite not looking that far on a map. It took 90 seconds to drive to and about 2 mins to walk back from - what a joke and they wouldn't refund the cost because of the poor advice. I wouldn't stay here again based on both the poor knowledge/helpfulness of staff and its location out of town. Somewhere like the Crown Plaza offers a much better option.

fabulous welcome and check in. Room is spotlessly clean and a really good size with lovely large furnished balcony and river views. Bathroom large with separate bath and shower. Great range of toiletries. Bed was super comfy. But there is a A4 printed list of costs of every single item In the room, should you break it or steal it. Including ironing board, duvets, saucer, wine glass, bed head everything. Never seen anything like it before and have stayed in many high end hotels. Programmable key had note saying how much they will charge you if you loose it $14 dollars by the way. A $100 dollar security deposit is taken at Reception upon checking in and the Receptionist said it will take a month to get it back if using card! Everywhere are signs saying what the fine is if you smoke $50. Very little English is spoken and can cause problems at times. 1st night went to Brasserie restaurant around 8.30. Beautiful restaurant, then it started. Trolley loads of plates, dishes, cups, saucers. Men with boxes, men with gas bottles all in the restaurant. You couldnt hear to speak with all the clattering. They were setting up for breakfast! Restaurant is open til 11, the high end price you pay, I didnt expect all this. Surely it should be done when there are no diners in. didnt have the vodka I ordered, only had the expensive ones. A very disappointing experience. However the food was really good! 2nd night we decided to try the Chinese restaurant, was terrible, meal sent back!

The owner was on site the whole time of our 2 night stay. Very amiable and threw a wine tasting the Sat. Night we were there. The hotel and staff were impeccable. We saw many 5 star hotels while in Luan Prabang, I'm sure bigger rooms, but the location and staff would have us come back again and again. Thanks Mekong Riverview for a great experience!!
