Typical for older building. Check in was easy. Unfortunately, the A\C or any airflow was not working and in a room with windows that don’t open. my room was ground floor & opened directly on to Main Street. I ended up opening my front door and wedging open the back door just for airflow. Clearly problematic given I had a Direct line of sight from cars or people Walking by from my bed. Did not sleep well as a result. My only solace was going to be a hot shower in the morning and unfortunately after 10 minutes after waiting for the hot water, it never warmed up. I informed them early in the morning of both of these issues with hope they could at least fix the hot water before checking out. Unfortunately, the shower water was still cold and when I asked the front desk he said that the maintenance did not see anything wrong with either. Unhelpful. I ended up taking a shower at my son’s dorm. I instead politely asked for them to waive my room fee or give me a significant discount and ended up making this request via email to the manager and further cited another posted review similar review left by someone that must have stayed in the room the following night). Unfortunately, my reply was very unprofessional and perhaps one of the worst examples of customer service I have ever experienced.

This was my first time staying at The Buxton. I wish I had tried it before. It was quiet, well lit, and very comfortable. The staff always asked if everything was good or if you needed anything!
I would stay there again when in the area!!

The property was amazing
The front desk Zach was amazing as well
Would stay here again
One thing there was these 3 knocks every night that woke me up couldn’t figure out what it was.
The hotel was amazing in every way

We could not have asked for a better place to stay than the Buxton Inn. Our room was perfect with amazing surprising details! The history of the place was just as amazing (Abraham Lincoln to Yo Yo Ma have stayed there). We only wish we had time to stay longer. The town of Granville is so quaint and lovely with walking, shops and a farmers market. We will definitely be back ☺️

The gentleman at the corner was great! When asked, He took the time to tell us all about the property, history and stories...

What a beautiful place. Step back into history. When was the last time you stayed in a hotel in U.S. where you got a real key with a heavy key chain? Staff was very helpful.
Setting is in a quaint town square with very walkable restaurants.
Will stay again

The gold room was nice for two adults and a child. The breakfast is not good.

Absolutely an amazing place to stay.

Great location in downtown Granville.

I stayed two nights while attending a wedding across the street. I loved my room, it had a charming historic feel to it, without feeling old or dated. Very clean and comfortable. Amazing service. I arrived at noon after an all night flight and they allowed me to check in 3 hours early. When I asked the night clerk for some herbal tea to help me sleep, there was plenty to choose from in the breakfast room. He offered me to take any breakfast food I wanted as well so I wouldn't have to come again in the morning. Overall, I felt the personnel were kind and caring. Five stars!

The property was beautiful and the town is a perfect bubble of Pleasantville.

I’d wish that somewhere on their website it would list “most haunted Inn in Ohio” like it does in the brochure upon arrival. I would have never opted to stay in a place like that had I known. I really didn’t appreciate that literature left in our room. Additionally breakfast was pretty pitiful. I was hoping for a bed and breakfast type of feel, instead it was boxed cereal and apples. Several guest walked into the breakfast area and promptly walked straight out.
On a positive note the room was clean and comfortable. However hallway lights and noise are unavoidable

Charm

This is a very nice BNB with period houses around the main turned into bedrooms. Some are on the second floor with no elevator as you might expect. Very clean and tidy. Unfortunately the local water smelled and tasted of chlorine.

What a cool place to visit!

What a beautiful and well maintained historic inn. The staff were all so welcoming and helpful with everything. A wonderful continental breakfast every morning. Located in a convenient central location in this beautiful and friendly town, within walking distance to many shops and restaurants. It was like stepping back to a simpler and friendlier place in time. Hated to leave after our three night stay.

The staff was exceptional!! Love the old school vibe.

The Inn was clean and in great condition. It was so much better than staying at a typical chain hotel. I will stay here again the next time I am back in town.

Spacious comfortable room, friendly staff

The room was lovely and large with a wonderful bathtub. The furniture was all historic, yet the amentities were modern. Highly recommended.

Thank you for a nice, quick stay.

We always enjoy staying at the Buxton Inn. It has great character and friendly staff. The rooms are historically old but comfortable with clean updated bathrooms. We stayed in a large suite in the Tyre building with a great shared patio. The staff seemed strained this visit possibly due to a private event.

The history of the buxton inn is unbeatable. The staff is friendly and welcoming, going beyond expectations to help make your stay wonderful. Thanks to Mike and Katie in particular. No ghosts this time!

A bit noisy in that we could hear people in the other room. Hot water was scarce. Otherwise the hotel is located convenient to the lovely downtown area.

We loved our one night stay at the historic Buxton Inn. It was clean, cozy and welcoming! I wish we could have stayed for longer on the trip. Next time!

Nice staff. Cool older property.

Very nice historic hotel. You will not be dissatisfied for sure….

We were coming to watch a sporting event that got postponed and we were charged for two nights. Weather related postponement which we had no control over. Refused a credit or refund.

This historic and quaint inn was perfect for our two day stay. The building dates back to the early 1800's but the modernization was great. Would definitely stay with them again!

I came here just for an overnight getaway and was not disappointed! I stayed in the Pearl House, and it was beautiful. I absolutely love the history of the inn. Do keep in mind, though, that with an old property like this one come several expected conditions. The walls were very thin, and I could hear my neighbors all night (this was probably more problematic because I stayed the Saturday night before St. Paddy's Day), and the room made me sneeze quite a bit. Everything was clean and tidy, though, and I would definitely go back! (Also, I encountered no ghosts!)
4.4
Breakfast buffet was very limited and of poor quality. The desk in our room was too small to work at. Bathroom had no counter space to put personal toiletries. Staff were attentive and polite. Enjoyed the tavern.

Beautiful!

The Inn and the surrounding buildings are very old and nicely decorated. Parking is onsite but it was a rainy night so prepare to be damp if it is rainy when you arrive.
4.4
Outstanding historical place to stay. Will definitely come back. Great location across street from restaurants and pubs

we love the historic charm to this beautiful inn. our room was decorated simply but perfectly with space for everything you need and the bathroom was huge with nice soaps and towels.
Not sure about the dining options on site bc it appears that they aren’t fully operational (?) in the kitchen yet, but there are so many wonderful places to eat within very close proximity that it isn’t a problem.
Staff we met were more than welcoming! we had a lovely in this beautiful college town!

Repairs around the property are taking place. The hotel is currently missing some of the amenities that have made it special.
