Great position, comfortable room and brilliant price

Nice hotel within easy walking distance to the beaches, eateries and pubs. Staff very pleasant and the dog was made very welcome. However, the down side was our room hadn't been cleaned properly. There was an empty dog food pouch from what I guess was from the previous occupier, rubbish in the toilet and dirty used tissue paper next to the tea and coffee. To top things off the ceiling paper is coming away from the ceiling...... And though adequate the hot water which was virtually non existent only ran at a trickle. Luckily the breakfast was very nice. Big shame. Helios

It was fine and did the job.

We have had numerous visits to the St Ives Bay hotel and as always never disappoints. Superb friendly staff and Dan always goes above and beyond. Looked beautiful when we left as trimmed up for Christmas parties.
We will return again.,

Lovely stay, amazing views over the beach

For the payment the stay was very good.
Hotel has a great position in St Ives, I even had a sea view. But I felt the hotel was in need of updating, it was like going back in time to the 80’s from the bathroom having the old style mixer tap shower to the tick box options for breakfast.
Don’t get me wrong for the cost I’m 100% happy

When we arrived there wasn’t anyone on reception, had to go and look for someone to check us in. The first room we were put in was awful, so we asked to change, second room we tolerated, but still not nice, we stayed out of the hotel so we didn’t have to spend time in there.
The breakfast was absolutely disgraceful, also no one about for us to check out, will definitely not be returning… the hotel was nothing that is ahown

Probably the worst place i have ever stayed. I had to leave my car on double yellows for 20 whilst trying to find someone who could check me in. The poor night porter was rushed off their feet tending to coach loads of the turkey and tinsel brigade. Why they didn't more staff??? The room was up a dark smelly staircase directly above the toilet. The room itself was dirty with a broken tap, mouldy shower, tv that you couldn't turn down, no chair and absolutely no chance of wifi or a mobile sign. Breakfast wasn't much bet. As someone that has chosen not to eat animal based products my only choices were beans on toast and nuts and fruit. This place was cheap but still overpriced for the conditions. Staff were brilliant and friendly and helpful

Sadly the room was grim view amazing
Apart from that the room was shocking its sad these old hotels are not maintained

Obviously we knew this wasn't going to be amazing after the budget price point and from the online pics, we were expecting something basic and in line with Travelodge type interior.
Unfortunately our room was particularly run down and pretty horrible. Needs alot of TLC. Such a shame as the building itself is majestic and in a great spot. Such a real , real shame about the interior. Would definitely not recommend.

This Hotel has an enviable position next to the railway station and a 5 minute walk to all buses covering a wide area. We booked a superior room which was comfortable and had a superb view over the bay and cliffs. However, it has many stairs and, as far as we could tell ,only one lift which was reached by 7 steps from reception. So, although the staff were helpful, it did not seem disabled friendly. Some ramps and (weatherproof) wheelchair lifts would assist a wider range of customers and could be done as part of the continuing upgrade which the management are obviously trying to undertake (evidenced by certain hi-tech features such as wi-fi and usb chargers, etc).
Reception was not continuously manned as seemingly overworked staff were often carrying out other duties. Patience was needed at times but help was usually available. One thing that would not cost anything is a welcoming smile.
So come on St.Ives Bay hotel, widen your horizons just a little more and modernise the corridors and accessibility of your fantastic, but slightly tired building, just like you have the rooms.
Thanks for the experience of staying with you. We will be back!

Staff were amazing, they couldn't have been better. Room not as per photo and after staff kindly moved us to a room with a bath, Thank-you, the room was very tired. However, the views from 307 are amazing, and we watched the sun raising over the beach. Sundays breakfast was interesting and not up to standard, very sparse. Mondays breakfast was the opposite, quite superb in every way. We travelled with my service dog and the breakfast staff couldn't help enough. Thank-you

Horrible

Great location and good views from bedroom. Bathroom and bedroom decor is a bit tired but I believe that is reflected within the cheap price we paid. Shower wasn't great and the hotel didn't smell great but overall a pleasent stay and did the job. It is a value for money property and would stay again if it remained cheap

I loved view, could sit at the wondow all day. The room was clean and tidy. Toilet didn't flush properly, shower tray didn't drain and there was a leak through the ceiling into the bathroom. Saying that I would still stay again, it just felt comfortable.

The building looks imposing from the outside and its bar & resteraunt area at the front have nice views.
Unfortunately, we booked a cheap room for ONE NIGHT at the back and got what we paid for. Very no frills, 2 flights of stairs up, single glazed sash windows, view of bins at back, sloping floors, gaps under doors.
Promised parking was an old bus garage, very difficult to get in/out with a VW Van, so we parked on the street in front.
Positive points; friendly staff, view from coffee lounge, lovely walk into St.Ives, parking options, bed was comfy. Can't comment on breakfast as we opted not to have one.

Hotel is very tired and desperately needs updating, carpets are worn through, paint work is flaking and the entire floor creaks from rooms above and yours to the people below, however location is excellent
1.0
The carpeting was filthy, bed super uncomfortable and I know it’s an older building, but I couldn’t help but feel badly for the people below us as the floors made loads of noise with every step we took.

We had a wonderful stay and the staff could not be better. Efficient and friendly. Great breakfast ! Just love staying here and the view over the beach fabulous.

Short trip by train, the location is great and worth a visit.

Disappointing . Hotel very tired and in need of refurbishment

The unique feature was having an aircraft carrier 'parked' outside the hotel (well, as close as it could get without running aground!!)!

St Ives Bay Hotel was an ideal for our short stay in St Ives, perfect location, the room, although a little tired looking in certain areas, was clean, spacious and a great sea view. The staff were very pleasant, courteous and helpful, especially the gentleman that handled our check in. We needed a hotel that was dog friendly, the St Ives Bay didn't disappoint in any way, we even got a spot in the car park. Would highly recommend.

The man and woman on reception were great.
The breakfast staff were about as much use as a button on a sock. My bathroom smelled horrible. Bedroom was getting a drain smell from out side.
4.0
An older property, difficult to navigate with luggage as there are stairs up to the entrance, stairs down to the lift, and a total of four fire doors to get to our room on the third floor. Rooms are quite small, beds only have one thin pillow, and the shower pressure was relatively non existent.

Don't bother staying here. The property is run down and in poor condition, we stayed in a unpleasant little room which wasn't very clean. We couldn't find any members of staff for the most part as the reception and bar areas were always empty. I was also charged more money for my dog to stay with us than what was agreed in an email I received from the hotel prior to our arrival. Overall not worth it.

Very nice location, close to the sea, near town centre and lots of choices of restaurants. Very reasonable prices to stay in hotel, breakfast was not really my choice.

My partner and I really enjoyed our stay. To mention we did find a dog bone under our bed and the building itself is very dated especially in the upstairs corridors. The floorboards are quite creaky, and you can hear people walking around. However staff were really friendly and helpful and the breakfast was decent and the bedsheets were clean. View from the dining area is spectacular.

The lady on reception was the only friendly and helpful person. The restaurant staff were awful, very rude and treated us as if they were doing us a favour. Wouldnt recommend to anyone.

Room wasnt very clean at all, carpets stained to high heaven, balcony was all rusty tiles moving under you're feet, not safe at all bathroom door handle not even on, was a non smoking room but coridoor and room smelt had to fill with air, hotel is far from what pictures and advertising suggest

Staff are ok
One guy on reception was not helpful
The bar had closed early, I asked if I could buy a bottle of wine he said he had cashed up and locked up. I asked if I could get some ice. He said he had locked up. This was 10.30pm. I later saw him scurrying off with his pizza

I hate fake customer service where they address customers by titles such as Sir or Madam. At St Ives Bay hotel, I was treated like a normal person and that I liked.
10.0
Very confident, close to the train station and the town centre.
6.0
Great hotel location with good views over the beach and the bay towards Hayle. Unfortunately the staff were only interested in the coach parties attending the hotel and we felt rather ignored. No mention of bar or restaurant when we arrived or even during the stay until we asked. Room was outdated but a good size. Parking for cars behind the hotel, but travelled in a van so unable to use.
4.0
We didn't expect a lot from this stay because the price was very reasonable.
The property requires much updating.
The room was clean but again required updating.
The walls are clearly quite thin which was disappointing as I was disturbed by the neighbours showering in the night and because our room was at the top of the stairwell we had the banging of the stairs door every time someone went through it.
The overpriced breakfast was very limited and the staff were clearly quite stretched.
Location was good, however the parking was off-site.

Another wonderful stay at this lovely hotel. Views amazing! Thank you to the fabulous friendly staff. Dan and the team are fantastic. Nothing is too much trouble. We will be returning.
