Simply perfect!

This is an inexpensive B&B in an old building in the Portacatena area of Salerno. Carmen the landlady is a very kind and considerate host who clearly enjoys helping her guests. The Loft has high ceilings, good Aircon, a mezzanine bedroom, kitchen and bathroom. The property is clean, secure and surprisingly quiet.
The neighbourhood is not quiet! The area is the old town of Salerno and is filled with bars and restaurants. It's a little grimy and rough around the edges but that is it's charm. It's a 5 min walk to the Norman duomo built around 1080, beautiful church of the Annunziata (sketched by Turner in the early 19thC) is literally next door! Across the road is a elegant park with a traditional lemon granita stall.

We stayed for 5 nights. Carmen the host was friendly and accommodating. The breakfast spread was beautiful. Hot egg options. Fruits bread yogurts cereals. Home made cakes and marmalade. This was a good location for us. Our room was spacious and clean.
We went by ferry to Positano Amalfi Ravello. Bus to Vietri and cava de Trenii.
Train to Pompei. Lots of choices to dine out. Close to the shoreline. Lots of shopping choices close by. We came off our cruise early to stay here. A great base.

Carmen was such a lovely host and made our stay feel really special! She was always smiling and incredibly helpful and made sure we were always happy - which we were! The location is excellent, only a few minutes walk to the beach and also the Main Street with all the restaurants. The hotel itself was well maintained and clean, all because Carmen, you can tell, takes real pride in what she provides which makes her a fantastic host. We would definitely go back again!

The Host was very Kind, the breakfast homemade; lovely

The only negative was that the bed linens felt damp. Aside from that the b&b was in a great location breakfast was wonderful cooked by the owner Carmen. The room was huge and very clean.

This stay was very nice. Check in was very simple and breakfast every morning was so personal and delicious. It was right in walking distance of everything but still very quiet.

Carmen the host was the most wonderful welcoming woman. She made our first stop in Italy such an enjoyable experience. The accommodations were very pleasant and as advertised. The beds were comfortable and additional bedding was provided for the chilly evenings. The breakfast was delicious and Carmen makes a fantastic cappuccino and we got the honor of tasting her delicious lemon cake. It can get noisy on the street up until midnight but that is going to be true no matter where you stay so just come prepared. The balconies have two sets of doors so make sure both are closed and it will buffer most street noise. The location is very convenient to shopping, so many restaurants, the park, one port is just a 9 minute walk through the park, the other is a just a beautiful walk down the waterfront about 25 minutes. The bus is right on the other side of the building. It couldn’t be more convenient. Only a few minutes bus ride from the train station. Would definitely stay again!!! Literally the only thing to be aware of….if you are a bit on the larger size, the shower is quite small. It is definitely European size. You can use the removable head and keep the doors open but if you like move around I would keep this in mind.
But overall definitely a five star experience

Carmen was a wonderful host! After letting us into the property, we found the Loft was more than spacious, bright and clean. A quick 10 minute walk took us to the tomb of Saint Matthew, a must if you stay here. Plenty of dining choices in the area, too!
After a good night’s sleep, we woke up and were treated to breakfast in the lobby area of the B&B. Cappuccino and eggs how we wanted, fresh apple cake (baked by Carmen herself), cheese, salami, and fresh juice. A wonderful stay!

A charming bed and breakfast with a very nice owner who did all she could to make our stay a pleasant one. The room is spacious and breakfast was delicious. The location was also ideal. We walked to the B&B from the bus station, having taken the bus from Amalfi. Dining and shopping are all walkable.

We rented room 2 which had two bedrooms. Perfect for our family of four. Great balconies to view the street, great location for our visit. The shower was small for my six foot tall husband but it was fine for a short stay. Breakfast was lovely and Carmen is a very considerate host. I would stay here again. Room was cleaned daily which was very nice. There is a mini-fridge in the main room and a nice table and chairs.

What a lovely place, we had the roman room, which was large, bright, very clean, and has a great view of the street. The beach is very close and the choice of nearby high quality restaurants is excellent. Best of all are the breakasts, all cakes and pastries are home made. Carmine will take very, very good care of you

The hotel is lovely. I would highly recommend. Carmen is a magnificent host.
Hotel was easy to find and offered everything we needed. The breakfast daily is a nice touch. It is offered 8am-10:30am daily. We had to miss twice because we had other plans that has us leaving early.
We arrived late by train on night 1 and this was no issue for Carmen.
The hotel is a 20 min walk from train station. We walked a few times for our day trips and took taxi when with luggage. Carmen took care of ordering taxi which was greatly appreciated.
Hotel is a great location for walking… harbour 6 mins. Tons of restaurants close by too.
Hotel is super clean and I felt like a true Italian in my little apartment. It was very spacious and we were very comfortable- 3 adults.
The alley outside can be very noisy. This would be the only item worth mentioning. Church bells, street sweeper, garbage truck, people. We could hear it all. We did get used to it and it didn’t really bother us.
I would highly recommend.

Only reserved a it started it had laundry available with an icon of a washer and dryer. Come to find out it is a $17/ bag service by the property owner and she'd have my clothes ready by 9 or 10 or 11. On a 2 week vacation we explicitly needed a place to freshen up clothes for the family and this didn't fit the bill. Owner was very nice. Rooms were good (shower tiny) but the laundry killed it for us

Great service. My wife left her earrings in the room. The hotel’s owner found them and mailed them to my next hotel in Rome. Much appreciated, and strongly recommended.

What a hidden gem! The rooms are beautiful and our host (I think Carmen was her name) was so so lovely. Location is great, bed is super comfortable and the room was gorgeous. The only downside was that our room was above a resto-lounge and overlooked the street so getting sleep was a little tricky due to the noise. We had ear plugs though and the noise did subside so was a good night rest anyway. Highly recommended!

Tastefully decorated. Breakfast was good. The 2-bedrooms family suite was spacious. Be prepared for the need to go up a flight of stairs. Convenient location, restaurants within short walking distance. It gets noisy early in the morning from motorcycles and people talking in the neighborhood. A small fridge in the room, no kitchenette / cutlery in the room. AC in the main larger bedroom only. The hot water tank was not large enough for all 4 of us so we had to wait for it to boil between showers. The owner helped arrange parking for us at a private garage about 10-15 mins walk away (18 euro/ night). We drop off grandma and kid and the luggages on Via Roma before heading to the private garage. Recommend good food & good price at nearby restaurant Antonio La Trippa which is a small museum itself. Short walk from Via Roma. Supermarket is 9 min walk away. The Cathedral is worth a visit!

Very close to the old centre and an easy walk from the train station and port. Charming hostess who was very friendly. The breakfast in the lovely breakfast room were great with good coffee and homemade cakes. Real old fashion style with the building. Lots of character.

We booked a last-minute trip to Salerno, knowing very little about the city and we are so happy that we chose Home47 as our home base. For what we wanted, the building location was perfect: in the medieval section of the city, not far from the train station (about a mile), and a five-minute walk from Santa Teresa beach and the boardwalk. Multiple restaurant options along Via Roma. Great place to relax and just enjoy the area. The apartment is spacious (we stayed in the loft), well-kept, and air-conditioned. Carmen was a wonderful host, providing lots of printed information on sights to see and how to get around Salerno and the area, as well as good conversation (even with my limited Italian skills). Breakfast was delicious, with many food options.

This place was AWESOME! The room was enormous, spacious and divine. Great facilities to self cater. The breakfasts were amazing and there was so much. Our host, Carmen treated us like royalty. She was absolutely fabulous. This apartment is situated in the historic centre which had so much charm. We just loved it. Quick, easy walk to the wharf as well for ferry trips. We used Salerno as a base for exploring the Amalfi Coast. Our experience with this apartment and with Carmen meant that Salerno was the highlight of this part of the trip and not Amalfi.

Exceptional place! It was such a lovely stay. Everything was impeccably clean and the rooms were nice and large with comfortable beds. There is daily cleaning of the rooms and daily breakfast. The breakfast is delicious, with a different baked good everyday and Carmen makes the best cappuccinos! Her cat is very cute, friendly and affectionate. For 15 Euros, Carmen will make you a 3 course meal with wine, water, dessert and digestif included. It is a daily menu, using fresh ingredients and is also delicious.Carmen had served us some of the local strawberries which were insanely fragrant and sweet during dinner. She ended up giving us some more as we left as a parting gift since she saw how much we loved them. The only slight issue we had was that the wifi was very slow, but this seems to be a common theme in Europe. I would absolutely recommend staying at Home47. Staying here in itself is a very nice experience that one should have if possible -- this is coming from someone who doesn’t usually care about the accommodations too much.

We had a quick stay in Salerno to catch a boat trip. Carmen was a lovely host and was very kind to let us check in very late due to airport and train delays.
Lovely room, fabulous breakfast and we wish we had longer to stay.

Great place! We booked a large room (ca. 900 square feet) with a kitchen. Carmen even provides coffee for us to make in case we didn't have enough for breakfast. Fancy towels, fantastic beds, nothing could be better. The only drawback was the street noise but we kept windows open. So if you like fresh air not from AC be ready and take your earplugs with you like I did. Thank you, girls, for the hospitality!
Don't believe the signs on the beach. Everyone swam there regardless. I did too and it was awesome. There's a shower but no changing rooms so put your swimsuits on in the room. It's just a 2 minute walk. If you smoke like my friend, you could do that on the balcony.

A nice stay with a friendly owner who made the stay feel more as a home than as a guest.
