Very disappointed. Hotel had recently changed hands but not communicated that to guests who had already booked. Had to chase for the entrance code which was supposed to have been provided 72 hours prior.
New management were inept sent me the booking details, card details and phone number of another persons booking.
I’d paid for breakfast for the two of us. The photos still show a lovely spread of pastries etc but there was nothing. Fine if the new owners don’t want to offer breakfast but you need to at least tell guests who have booked and paid a premium in this premise. Room was fine, comfy bed but outside noise from taxi rank was disturbing. I would not book again or recommend to anyone. Wished I’d stayed out of town instead. Communal areas very unwelcoming, stained carpet, dodgy alleyway. Not at all like the photos!

Despite having 'Hotel' in the name, this is not a hotel. It's more of an airbnb set up, you will not check in with anyone and there is no service or breakfast set up. If you have an issue you can't just pop to the lobby. Unfortunately, we forgot to look at the reviews before staying (big mistake) if we had we would have chosen somewhere else, I can back up the reviews - terrible experience, overpriced, AVOID. The only good thing is the central location.
Our windowless r̶o̶o̶m̶ cell wasn't particularly clean, we suspected the towels were not fresh, the packaged milk was partly open and off (so we couldn't even make a cup of tea!). The decor is tacky and the finish is terrible. It's located above a pub so noise was an issue, even with the windows closed. Despite coming to Oxford for a well needed break we left like zombies having both had a terrible, sleepless night.
The code for the entrance door is sent via text, this is how you access the room. The way the code for the front door and to the room is, I strongly suspect there is a security issue. For instance, we could access another part of the hotel (we went through the wrong door).
For the price, we were expecting an actual hotel. Do not stay here unless you want a substandard experience.

The property was located centrally. Close to the shopping centre, restaurants and easy walk to the train station.
Room 4 is small but nice and comfy

The customer service was beyond expectations. We were met outside and our bags brought in and up for us. The room was ready early. When we checked out we mentioned we were heading to the train so she packed a lovely bag of waters and snacks for us. It was such a kind act.

I didn’t realize it was a property that you check yourself in and out of so when we got there early we had to call to find out where we could store our luggage. Once we talked to them they were very responsive.

Very difficult to contact reception bc there is no central location. Had to use data and call them for a code to get in. That cost us $$. Room was ok...window blind on one window did not work, and could hear everything in next room. Luckily they were fairly quiet except when on their phones. Nice lounge with water and coffee.

Best location. Lounges are perfect!

This hotel isn’t like a traditional hotel, it has no front desk and everything automated. We were able to get a quick response when we had trouble with the blind in our room and the room was nice, comfy bed and pillows. It’s in a great location for walking around Oxford!

Great location, good value.

Positives:
-- EXCELLENT location both for tourism and for those who have business at one of the colleges (but don't come with a car)
-- clean, comfortable bed
Negatives:
--given that the hotel has no office or concierge on site, inadequate communication about how to find and enter (it's not easy)
--loud noise from local intoxicants et al ALL NIGHT LONG (bring earplugs)
--LED clock didn't work
--safe didn't work
--remotely controlled blinds only semi-functional
--room 8 and its bathroom are tiny (room not big enough for two)
--no one to tell or correct problems
The balance falls to the negative side of the ledger.

The hotel was lovely. We were very happy with our stay however the bed was very small.

Great solo stay - was pretty much self service - you get texted your building, room access code, and also the wifi details - theres no reception or staff visible as such (at least, in the front part of the building where I was staying), but it's clean and comfortable enough. There were stairs and a spiral staircase to access my particular hotel room, so check if you have accessibility requirements.

The whole hotel including the bedrooms smells like sewage. They clearly have a plumbing problem as I could hear the pipes bubbling and emitting a stench throughout the night. Impossible to sleep in.
Avoid!

Once we had our access code evrything ticked the box!
Would likely use again next time we visit Oxford

Our stay at Museum Hotel Oxford was amazing thanks to its staff and location. Khadija was of great help, she assisted us promptly when we had questions about the hotel and she was able to recommend locations nearby to explore and have food. The location was in short walking distance to many main attractions.

The Museum Hotel was a wonderful discovery. Great linens, great complimentary amenities and food in the lounge, nice to have a full-size kitchen.

Scam! They advertise this as a hotel but it's a Airbnb at best. The entrance for our bedroom was shared with a 24h betting shop full of dodgy people. The stairs to access the room are so narrow that if you have any suitcase it will be a real struggle to squeeze in. The room is tiny, no shelves or even a stool to put your clothes, only 2 clothes hangers (one broken), the window is facing a pub's roof with their exhaust fan facing the window (noisy and smelly all the time). The toiletries are NOT the ones advertised in their photos (they're cheap and nasty), not to mention we arrived to find a used hand soap, multiple half used toilet rolls in a drawer and an empty toilet roll on the floor in the bathroom. During our days in there, we had no service whatsoever. No one came to do the bed, refill toiletries, nothing. On our last day, despite the "do not disturb" sign we decide to use, they knocked on our door until we opened it. The breakfast they charge £10 for is a bunch of nasty food inside plastic bags. Nothing is fresh or even a bit nice. At the price they charge for the room, this place should be ashamed of themselves. I feel totally scammed, especially because I know they won't care about bad reviews.

We were in Oxford for a night out at The Ivy, so the location was fantastic. We had to use a car park which was a few minutes away but we knew that in advance. Just factor in an extra £35. The hotel has no lobby or reception and we didn’t see any staff at all. Instead you let yourself in via a keypad on the door which is down a side access road.
This leads up to a series of rooms which also have keypad entry.
The room itself is fine. The wooden beams give it some character but the headboard and furniture didn’t really match and looked quite tacky. The bathroom was nice and it felt clean.
What let it down was the carpet on one side of the bed felt damp. Also the room got hot during the night and the air conditioning unit didn’t work, even though it had power. I was looking forward to a good nights sleep being away from the kids but unfortunately this didn’t happen.
There is a breakfast room which was well stocked.

Dreadful

Unique. The hotel was not well marked, but there was a small brass plaque at a bookstore informing me that the entrance was down a nearby alley. Then the door in the alley was not well marked but the emailed passcode allowed me entry to a dark poorly lit dingy entrance. To your immediate left is a closet filled with cleaning supplies and directly in front of you are a flight of creaky stairs with worn carpeting. Mounting the stairs I found my room and entered a separate passcode to enter. No lobby, no reception, no other human. Just a door in an alley and passcodes. The room was nicely appointed and every bit a converted old building. The bathroom was nice but there was no hot water. And of course in the morning the coffee machine was broken. I departed at my checkout time, 11 AM without seeing any hotel representative or another guest. But the bed was comfortable, the room was quiet and the blackout blinds allowed me to sleep soundly.

Great stay. Perfect location to get to the local attractions. Beautifully decorated in keeping with the history of the building.

A perfect spot of a nights stay! With wonderful AC for the summer.

The hotel is situated in an ally. It's very noisy. Had little to no sleep whatsoever. Air conditioning unit leaking water and room smelt very damp.

Staying here has been a great experience. It was very easy to find and in a prime location! The rooms are clean and the air con was a bonus. We especially liked the laminated cards that told the history of the building as well as interesting features about it. The one note I do have is that Expedia lists that door and rooms codes will be sent out 72 hours in advance. When it was the day of and I hadn’t heard anything I started to worry. I sent a message to the staff through Expedia and heard back within a couple of hours that that information was sent when it was okay for us to enter the property, which ended up being just a tad in the early side, a plus of us. We heard other guests going to and from their rooms, but other wise a very quiet stay. Well pleased, would definitely come back again.

This property should not be marketed as a hotel as the level of service and amenities is non existent. The carpets are worn and dirty, the “lounges” make the average branch of Costa coffee look like the Savoy, the wifi in our room didn’t work (they told us to log on to the wifi that belonged to the room next door) the cable TV kept cutting out every five minutes, there are no staff (just one caretaker with fairly limited English) and the entrance is a key pad that gives out onto a grotty alley where there was a gang of lads sitting drinking beer. My wife felt distinctly unsafe there. And yet we were charged £260 for a one night stay in something that felt less high end than a Days Inn, despite the claims that everything is of the highest quality. I would rate this as the poorest hotel I have stayed in over a lifetime of frequent travel. It is a disgrace and I feel cheated to have paid so much for something so poor. I suggest you consider seriously whether you wish to continue listing such a poor property on the Expedia website

Compact, comfortable room. Excellent staff and support. Ensure you get your key entry code - otherwise it is a problem. Great location.

Easy to find and access, superb quality interior and very comfortable. Might be nice to provide earplugs against the 2am drunken fun that was going on outside my window but it is a student city so much to be expected l. Very much liked the Academics Lounge, fill up the cake stand on my next visit?

We had no issues entering the hotel and found it clean and tidy. We were attracted by the quirky idea of the hotel and its beautiful period features, which didn’t disappoint. To note - the staircase was a little tight getting up and down but it was an ok fit with our smaller bags. We were impressed by the facilities. The bed was large and comfortable and the bathroom was modern. The lounge was great and we enjoyed having a chance of a coffee with great views before heading out. The location is ideal and very central. It was a bit noisy at night but not too bad bearing in mind the location. Would definitely visit again.

We really enjoyed our stay, the room was clean and the bathroom was lovely. Check-in was easy and there was hand sanitiser available at the entrance. The bed was comfortable and the air conditioning was great. A speaker was available in the room and the TV had HDMI ports.

Had a lovely stay here. It was very clean and the bed was comfortable. The lounge was also well stocked. We did have issues with the wifi however, and couldn't connect to it during out stay.

First - this is not a hotel it is an Airbnb - no one is in staff, there is no front desk - room was expensive for the size and amenities. Our first room smelled due to a bar below and you have to enter through a alley drive way. They did graciously move us to another room. Our second room was better but you had to enter the entrance though a shaped doorway with a shady business with people smoking and drinking all night long right in front of the door into the rooms. Not the most comforting.

The entrance was shared with a betting shop. There are no staff on site. The breakfast was very poor for this price . Trying to get in with some unsavoury characters watching was not pleasant. This info was only communicated at the last minute when it was too late to change our booking as they would not offer any kind of cancellation.
