Beautiful hotel right in the centre.

While the bed is very comfortable, the 5 star rating of this hotel is a little mysterious. There is no cafe or restaurant although these are available outside the hotel. I was moved from a noisy room on the ground floor near the desk to a quiet room at the back. Room showed some signs of wear, carpet stain, marked fabric on the chair. It was adequate overall.
2.5
The hotel is smack in the middle of the city and a short walk to bot the train station and the main bus terminal. Although George street has deteriorated in the last years, the hotel is across from the theatre so it is lively and feels more or less safe. Cafe on the left. Two nice pubs on the right.

The hotel is not a 5 star hotel, the room is very small, there are no views, just some ceilings. I wrote to the hotel to ask if they could put some prosecco in because we were celebrating our anniversary. They didn't answer until 3pm, obviously they didn't give us the room. Paying 200 pounds for this hotel is a nightmare, it has nothing good. Sorry, the location is great. Otherwise, I wouldn't stay here again.

Fantastic location and very welcoming. Staff were lovely.
Room was large and clean. Recommendation's are to offer a choice of pillow's as I found them way too firm but this is a personal choice.
It would be great if they could find a way to offer breakfast.
Would definitely stay here again.

Check-in was appalling. Even though I'd called ahead and requested an early check-in, and had it confirmed, I was left to use the toilet in reception to get changed and head out for the afternoon/ evening. The room was very cramped and decorated as if a blind person had been let loose in the 3rd aisle of Lidl. There was no window and the bed was possibly the most uncomfortable I've ever had the misfortune to sleep in. An all round shocking establishment.

Very dated hotel. Our room was in the basement and was very small (not much room between the end of the bed and the wall), AC unit was loud all night but had to stay on because of the heat in the room. We had no sleep and left at 7am just to leave the hotel.
2.0
The hotel is in a great city centre location, within easy walking distance of the main tourist sights. However, this also had a disadvantage if you are a light sleeper, as there were large groups of people talking outside until about 2am (I assumed from people outside pubs / clubs) that could be heard even on the 3rd floor. Unfortunately our stay also coincided with the glass bottle bins being collected at 6am.
On the positive side, the hotel staff were friendly and helpful, everything was spotless, all the facilities worked and there was good access control from the ground floor.
The bed was very comfortable, and heating / air conditioning worked very well despite being incredibly quiet.
Buses to and from the Peartree and Redbridge Park and Ride services came very close to the hotel (about 2 doors away on the Peartree inbound service!) Buses to the Oxford United ground were also close by.
There is no breakfast at the hotel, but the Oxford Brunch Bar next door was excellent and gave a 10% discount to hotel guests.
The area around the hotel was safe and there were a good variety of restaurants and pubs within a 10 minute walk.
We would probably stay again if visiting Oxford in the future.

It was ok and right in the city centre. Was mystified why the lady on reception asked me to email my passport information to the hotel!! I didn't bother.

My one (short) night at George St. Hotel was fine. For a luxury hotel, I found the facilities to be a little on the shabby side (there was a sliding door that did't quite close, and the warren of mirrored, gold-trimmed corridors that lead up to the first-floor reception were quite dated; the stairs are also uneven and marked with striped hazard tape) though everything was basically fine for a single night's stay. The staff was friendly, and the shower was excellent.
The cleaning crew that came in early in the morning was very noisy, however, and this wasn't exactly what I was looking for the morning after a late formal dinner. Underwhelming for its description on the web (the Randolph it is not) but actually totally OK.

The GSH was very accommodating and comfortable. They brought in a full-size twin bed for our young adult and that and the king bed were very comfortable. Happy to store luggage before check in and after check out. Great location and easy to walk to/from the Oxford train and coach stations.
2.5
We had a small room with no window but still felt open and comfortable. The staff are excellent, the rooms clean and comfortable. We will be back.

Good hotel. Staff very helpful and friendly. The room was clean and well appointed.

This hotel is in a great location for walking the central area of Oxford. Staff is very kind and helpful. Rooms are clean and comfortable.

I had a wonderful time at The George Street Hotel. The location is perfectly located within walking distance to famous sites, the bathroom was 5 star, and the small refrigerator was a lovely surprise since a fridge in a hotel room is extremely rare in the UK and Europe.

Only stayed one night but found the location to be great. Staff was excellent. Basement room was without window so if staying longer I would not have stayed in this room but for one night was fine!

I needed to stay in Oxford at the last minute. This place was perfect. It is a little bit odd that the entrance is on a busy shopping street and the reception is on the first floor, but hotel is in the centre of town and is close to multiple transport options. The staff were very friendly and the hotel was super clean and tidy. My room was small but had everything I needed for the night. Would stay again.

Small room, great location, very good service, fair price for Oxford.

Basic but clean and good showers!

Our first night after an overnight flight. Couldn’t get into room till 2:30 pm and we were exhausted. Probably wouldn’t use it again because of price

Definitely not even a 2 or 3 star hotel let alone a 4 star. Needs seriously updating. It is clean and very close to everything in the city centre but that is the only benefits. I don’t know how it can even be legal to have a windowless room in the basement beside where they do the laundry, there were alarms going off all night. I’m

The hotel is in a very convienient location especially for the restaurants and shops. The staff is very responsive and helpful. Overall, our stay was very pleasant.

Lovely little boutique hotel right in the centre of Oxford. Clean and tidy rooms with all the normal facilities you’d expect.
Reception staff very polite and helpful who made a date stay very pleasant.
Would stay again

The rooms without windows are probably illegal and violate fire laws.

Lift not working. Plug in basin not working. No window so very stuffy room & difficult to get to sleep. Ridiculous to charge a lot extra for a room with a window. Very expensive for standard of hotel - without even breakfast included. Wouldn't ever consider staying at this hotel again.
4.0
The hotel is easily accessible to all the key attractions. It has a nice atmosphere, and I really appreciated the historical architecture. While I don’t have major complaints, I must say that the room was a bit too small for me, and at times, I could hear conversations from outside the room.

Good location

Awkward entrance, the room had no window and is definitely not representative of the images shown. The toilet barely flushed and the bed was extremely uncomfortable and I could hear talking from the front desk all night. If I’d have known about any of this I would have avoided and I will not be staying again.

The term 'hotel' is definitely an overreach at this property and I question its claims at 5 star.
At best, this property is a 3 1/2 - 4 star guest house.
Note, there are absolutely no facilities at this property other than reception and the bedrooms.
I have also never come across a '5 star hotel' that charges to rent an umbrella!
The rooms are comfortable and relatively clean albeit very small and quite basic.
They have a very mixed style with touches of what i think the owners thinks looks blingy and shiny, very odd and not fitting for the area and style of the building.
Had it marketed itself as a 4 star guest house, would have gotten full top reviews. But as a 5 star hotel - its is definitely not!
Would i stay again? No probably not. There are far better options around.

The Hotel was in a great area, it was central for everything going on. My room was clean and tidy the staff were friendly I couldn’t ask for more.

Very difficult to access and not user friendly to check in

Great location in the city center.

More dated than luxurious, room crammed with enough furniture to cause mild claustrophobia.
Beds were super soft.
Location is really good.

Rooms don’t look like the pictures. I had what turned out to be a single bedded inside room without a window, for around £250. Not a great experience at all

The hotel is very far even from 3 stars standards.

Comfortable beds in quite a small room. Hotel itself is quite dated but is fine for a one night stay.

This was possibly the worst hotel stay I've ever had. Where to begin? The false advertising? I did not have a balcony. Instead I was in a windowless basement without heat in spring. The furniture literally was duck taped together and there was adhesive on the mirrors. There was no door on the closet. I could hear music much of the night from the bar next door. The rug was filthy and there was no tea or coffee for the coffee pot. The make-up mirror light did not work. I asked to be moved since I was sold a balconied room via Hotels.com. Owner offered to move me for 75 pds more, he 'couldn't do anything better' (although he owns the hotel). Guess God might've been angry? When I complained about the damaged furniture he over explained that the 'last guest' had done all that. Sure. I believe you. Finally, after repeated requests I was given a 100pd credit - which I've yet to see 4 months later. This hotel should be removed from Hotels.com platform.

Arrived early and staff was very accommodating. Location is perfect for walking around city center. Hotel is clean and quiet. Great stay.

Weird entrance, unfriendly staff, took an hours worth of in person conversations and calls to change my stay by 1 night, definitely not more than a 3 star stay. Good location.
